Unit6 I like music that I can dance to.

Analysis of the students:

My students are in Grade3, Junior High School.They are greatly interested in all kinds of music, at home and abroad.And they poe certain cognitive abilities to read and write in English during the two years’ studying English.

Analysis of the Teaching Material:

My teaching material is Junior High School’ English Book, Grade 3, Unit 6, I like music that I can dance to.In this Unit, students learn to expre preference with the Attributive Clause.Mostly they will talk about music.Music is a very popular topic among the students.It will arouse the children’s great interest.That will be very helpful to practice using the target language.

Teaching Methods:

Communicative Methods, Situational Approach, Chain Drill.Teaching Aims and Demands:

1) Knowledge Object

In this Unit, students learn to expre preference using target language with the Attributive Clause.

2) Ability Object

To train the students’ listening, speaking and writing skills using target language with the Attributive Clause.

3) Moral Object

Music is a kind of language that can be understood by the people all over the world.

Teaching Key Points

Help the students to expre preference on different things in daily life, using the target language.

Teaching Difficult Points

Talk about why they like or dislike the bands, the singer, musician and music using the sentences with the Attributive Clause.Teaching Aids:

PPT, blackboard, chalks

Target Language:

---What kind of music do you like?

---I like music that I can sing along with.What about you? ---I prefer music that has great lyrics.

Teaching Procedures:

Lead in:

Firstly self-introduction to the cla.Point it out that I like music leading in the theme “music”.I downloaded some pieces of music to the students for listening.After listening the first piece, ask the cla if they like the kind of music, please hands up and let me know.Then the second piece till the last one broadcast, at the same time I

ask some students why they like or dislike lead in next part.Presentation

New Vocabulary:

lyric, gentle, prefer, dislike

Learning new words:

I use English--English Explanation to teach the new words.Explain the word\'s meaning as simple as poible to make students understand me.For example, \"prefer\" means love or like something better than others.Say the words and have the students repeat several times until they can pronounce them fluently and accurately.I show some pictures on the screen to make the students gue which word is suitable.Who hands up quickest who will get the chance to speak the word.The speaker will get a present.

Learning new structure:

I will show an uncompleted sentence on the screen.\"I____(love/ like/ prefer/ dislike) music that is/ has _____.(linked with the new words listed on the screen and at the same time lead in the new sentence structure) Ask some students complete this sentence, not only practise new word but also lead in next part, Grammar Focus.Grammar Focus:

Write examples on the screen firstly.Circle the word \"who\" and \"that\" and the Attributive Clause.Ask the students, what do the

Attributive Clause with \"that”——describe a person or one thing? Help the students to say out the right answer.Then ask the same question on the Attributive Clause with \"who\".Explain that the Attributive Clause with \"that\" describe things and persons, the Attributive Clause with \"who\" are used to describe persons..Ask the students to make up more similar sentences.The examples are listed as follows:

I prefer this kind of music, because it has great lyrics.I prefer music thatI like these musicians, because they can play different kinds of music.

I like musicians who (describe persons)

I prefer these groups, because they play gentle songs.

Ask students what has changed in these pairs sentences, arouse their interest in the grammar, lead them to say out correct answers.According to the observation, say out the advantage about the Attributive Clause.

Group work

Then students work in groups to make up a short conversation to expre preference with the Attributive Clause.The example is on

the screen:

Sa: What kind of music do you like?

Sb: I like music that I can sing along with.What about you? Sc: I prefer music that has great lyrics.

Ask several lines\' students to do chain drill with this example.Which line speaks best and quickest which one wins in limited time.The winner will get a present.

Task: speaking, writing

Practice:

Show some pictures and videos of the popular singers and groups among the students.Students work in groups to discu which singer or group they like or dislike, with reference listed on the screen:

\" I like groups that dance much.I love singers who dance much as they sing.I don\'t like musicians who always copy others \" and so on.Design:

Suppose the students were designers, now demand them to design an arrangement of a concert.List the list of superstars and rank by entrance order.Explain why they arrange like this, try to use the Attributive Clause structure.After finish the design, I will choose some to show to the cla.

Homework:

Write a short article to tell your favourite band, book, movie or

clothes using the Attributive Clause.

Summary:

In this Unit, we\'ve learned four new key words, lyric, gentle, prefer and dislike.Then we\'ve learned how to expre preference by talking about music, using the Attributive Clause with that and who.
