每日书摘：“积极行动”是应对逆境的良方

有一位朋友接二连三地遭遇不幸，在这里姑且称他赫洛德吧。他的不幸大到足以夺去一个人的生命。可是他有坚强的信仰，以坚强的态度面对袭击他的苦难。他能冷静思考，不会因为不顺利就情绪化地责怪别人。而且认为有很多苦难的原因在于自己。

他说：“人应该认识到在他的一生中总会遭遇几次痛苦。”

他严格而理性地思考自己所处的状况，惮精竭虑地寻求更好的方法，分析自己的过错，然后加以消除。

确实，他把聪明人能想到的事情都做了。可是失望的念头仍旧抓住他不放。他慢慢地、彻底被失望击败了。失望的念头渗进他控制思考的心灵，开始腐蚀他的坚强信仰。就在这个时候他突然采取了“矫正行动”，这不是他的术语，也不是我的，而是我常常借用友人吉姆·纳普的话。也就是不论想从何种失败状况解脱时，必须以气度、尝试信仰的指导去采取矫正的行动。关键在于“行动”。只要能采取正确的行动就能改正错误，这一点非常重要。问题不在于自己身上会发生什么，而是对发生在自己身上的该如何思考。如能不感情化而是客观的，不以消极的而是积极正确地进行思考，就能以刚毅的意志采取矫正行动。

这就是我的朋友得到的现实结论。对失望命令说：

“从我的心里滚出去！”

结果真的就会如此。当然也会遇到抵抗，只要以坚定的意志去面对，终能克服失望。他很得意地说：“我采取的完全是平凡而古老的行动。我对什么也不思考的人常有的不满或自我怜悯感到厌恶。我只想要行动、行动再行动！矫正的行动！”

“能不能告诉我采取何种方式的行动呢？矫正的行动到底是什么样的呢？”我向他请教。

他首先采取的是身体行动。

他不再落魄地坐在那里，在心里消极地想：“我为什么会落到这步田地？”而是到户外不停地走动或游泳，也再度开始打高尔夫球。这样的行动消除了掌管思维的大脑中枢的压力，使自己从思考转向行动。

不久他的头脑变得清晰起来，心理状态也逐渐好转，血液循环畅通，心脏的功能也得到加强。各种创意开始在脑海里萌生。有一天他终于高兴地说：“我摆脱了失望情绪。”

他恢复了原有的活力。虽然不是在很短的时间内做到的，但比想象中更快恢复了原来的活力。

只要采取具有强大矫正力的积极行动，情况就能得到改善。在身体行动之后，精神与思维过程也会得到显著的改善。

他面对每一个问题和困难，思考每一件事情能教会他什么。这时他也达到了我在别处引用的W·克勒蒙特·史东的名言“不论任何逆境也有相对的优点”所说的思考状态。

他知道祸福相依

道理后，一切事情看起来都不再那么糟糕。情况对他来说也开始好转。失望消极的态度所产生的无力感，被积极的态度和行动完全清除了。

The sun has begun to set and I hang up the smile I’ve worn all day, though I will make sure it is the first thing I put back on in the morning just in case it is “that day.” I want her to see me at my very best.
