从文字的角度来看，汉语具有象形、形声和会意的特点。中国的汉字源于图画，每一个汉字就是一张图画，我们称汉语为象形文字。中国一般是字画不分，字就是画、画就是字，我们只要通过字面就能够理解事物的形态和功能。

象形：“囚”字－“人”在无门的四堵墙，就成了“囚”；“困”字－“木”在无门的四堵墙内要受“困”。

形声：“胡”字作为一个字根，可以合成蝴、湖、葫、瑚等，以同样的声音表达不同的事物。

会意：“日”和“月”组合起来，就是日光加月光变成“明”；“人”字和“言”字合起来，是“信”字，就是这个人遵守自己说过的话。

语言是一个人进行思维的工具，思维实际上是一种心里说的过程，如果在说话时表达得快，那么，思维的速度也应该跟着快。中国现代语言学先驱赵元任曾经比较用英语和汉语背诵乘法口诀的速度，汉语使用了30秒，而英语使用了45秒。因此，如果两个人同时用英语和汉语来背诵的话，到了30秒的时候，汉语使用者一定想到了九九八十一，而英语使用者则一定到不了那里，说不定，他想到的仅仅是七七四十九。这说明了使用汉语的思维速度比使用英语的思维速度快。

英语能力，留学申请不可缺的优势

英语已经成了事实上的全球通用语言，每年最出科研成果的两个国家是美国和英国，因为他们的母语就是英语，他们的科研人员可以方便直接地阅读全球最新的科技论文，直接从中受益。但是对于我们，却是不得不拿出很多很多的精力来面对英语学习的问题。奇怪的是，这么多年来，平均智商93%的中国人却怎么也学不好平均智商只有83%的美国人使用的英语。

如果英语能力好，能够提交好托福或者雅思的成绩，那么申请国外的院校相对会容易。由于国外院校要求学生提供平时成绩，这样一来一定要留充足时间准备语言考试或是平均成绩不理想的学生来说选择读预科课程会比较保险。一般只要是认真努力的学生都能够申请到较好的大学。

到了国外不一定可以学好英语

很多人在出国前，英语大多不好，可都这么想：到了国外英语环境自然就会了，天天听，而且被迫说英语，有几个月就流利了。当然，

有人也不行，那他们一定是因为老在中国人圈子里。

在唐人街上的华侨一辈子都可能不会英语。可到了国外后，发现大家真还都不在唐人街住，因为那里讲广东话，更不懂，在唐人街上跟中国人也是讲英文的。尽管人家一般先用广东话跟你打招呼，发现没反应后双方就开始各操费力的英文开始交流，好在到那里去的唯一目的是买菜，对付的了，不过感觉很滑稽，大家明明都是华人，还非得讲洋话。在国外一段时间，居然很多人把广东话学会了。

虽然很多中国学生平时在英语环境的，是在外国人家住的，也打工，也上补习班，也看英文电视和报纸。可过了几个月，甚至一两年过去了，发现怎么自己的英语还是这么差呀，听不懂，说不好，只会一些日常生活很简单的用语，还讲得好难听。当然，到了国外，从张不开嘴到敢于开口，这一关还是过了。到国外两星期都敢说了，因为被逼的。一旦敢说了，也就不再有心理障碍了。但说了两年了，怎么翻来覆去还是只会那几句?在留学前就学好英语，进行海外的留学事半功倍。

近几年，新航道的课堂上又出现了不少有留学或国外背景的学员，这些英语学习的“回流族”，很多说话张不开嘴，发音不准，更有人的英语水平还不如出国前。

在国内学习英语，可以实现中英文化的转化，可以培养一种语言习惯，实现中文思维和英文思维的相互转换。在国内学习英语，会有相对理想的语言环境，学生可以选择自己喜欢的英语课程和老师进行学习。再者，国内可以接受相当正规的语言教育和专业的英语培训且费用远远低于国外。磨刀不误砍柴工，好英语才能留学成功!
