Pride and Prejudice

In the Pride and Prejudice written by Austin, the heroine Elizabeth deeply loved by the rich and powerful person named Darcy was born in a small landlord family.Regardle of the status and wealth gap,Darcy wanted to marry with Elizabeth, but was refused.Elizabeth on Darcy\'s misunderstandings and prejudices is one reason, but mainly she hates Darcy\'s pride.Because Darcy\'s pride is actually a reflection of differences in status. As long as there is the pride, it is impoible to have the same feelings between Darcy and Elizabeth, also not impoible to have the ideal marriage.Later, Elizabeth personally observes Darcy\'s manners and a series of actions, especially Darcy has changed and he is not arrogant any more.So Elizabeth eliminates the misunderstandings and prejudices on Darcy , which concludes the great marriage with Darcy.Elizabeth\'s two different attitudes to Darcy actually reflects the female to personality independent and equal rights pursue. This is the progreive significance of the characters of Elizabeth.

In addition, Austin has also written several of Elizabeth\'s sisters and his girlfriend\'s marriages which used to compare with the heroine\'s ideal marriage. For instance,Charlotte and Collins are living with a comfortable life after marriage, but there is no love

between them.Such a marriage is actually social tragedy hiding under the gorgeous coat.

Although Pride and Prejudice which the theme is narrow , dull and lack of plot twists and turns of rich is good at depicting the characters\' psychological and social reality of height .Different from most of the books, Pride and Prejudice is full of women\' thinkings, worldview and style of life, rather than form a male\'s point of view the world. And it fully reflects the style of the times.Austin dose well in shaping the distinctive characters in everyday ordinary things. Not only the worthy of recognition characters like Elizabeth and Darcy is written in real and moving, but also the sarcastic characters like Wickham and Collins do.At the same time, Austin\'s language is discretion. She is fastidious in the dialogue art humorously with the satire and contrasts the characteristics of the character in the humorous language. This innovation makes her work of art has its own characteristics.

Male and Female Attitudes towards Marriage

Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by Jane Austen,an English writer, who first gave the novel its modern characters through the treatment of everyday life.“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in poeion of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. However little known the feelings or views of such a man may be on his first entering a neighborhood, this truth is so well fixed in the minds of surrounding families, that he is considered as the rightful property of some one or other of their daughters.” The novel directly begins with the theme: Marriage and Money.Jane Austen imposed her view of marriage on her describing of relationship among different males and females.According to the novel, males and females in some degree have diffident values towards marriage.Through some main characters, we can have a comparison.

First, we throw our eyes to the male characters.Take George Wickham for example, he is an old acquaintance of Darcy from childhood, and an officer in the militia unit stationed near Merton.Superficially charming, he rapidly forms a friendship with Elizabeth Benet, prompting remarks upon his suitability as a potential husband. He spreads numerous tales about the wrongs Darcy has done to him, coloring the popular perception of the other man in local society. It is eventually revealed that these tales are distortions, and that Darcy was the wronged man in their acquaintance. He is a man with bad quality, but his appearance is deceptive, he has a witty tongue and elegant behavior, who is a deadly attraction to women like Lydia.Once he was addicted to gambling and escape from Breton because of a large amount of debts.Lydia has neither high status nor money, but he is willing to have an accompanier on his escaping way.The book never mentioned why Wickham choose Lydia as his wife. The primary reason, in my eyes, is money.Because he fell in love with Mi King and Elizabeth before not because of love but money. At that time, Wickham can not have a large heritage because of his lower social status, so he is greedier for money. At last, Mr.Darcy helped him to pay for his debts and provided him with another 1000 pounds and a official position, which immediately led to his marriage. So we can easily see, in spite of paion, money played an important role in their marriage.Besides, Mr.Collins aged twenty-five, is Mr.Benet’s clergyman cousin and, as Mr.Benet has no son, heir to his estate.Austen described him as \"not a sensible man, and the deficiency of nature had been but little aisted by education or society.” He is a clumsy and conceit man and good at flattering, so he can easily appreciated

by Mrs.Catherine and gets a position in church.Mr.Collins chose Lady Lucas obviously attributed to love.He expreed his reasons about marriage when he asked for Elizabeth’s hands:” First, that I think it a right thing for every clergyman in easy circumstances (like myself) to set the example of matrimony in his parish.Secondly, that I can convinced it will add every greatly to my happine; and thirdly which perhaps I ought to have mentioned earlier, that it is the particular advice and recommendation of the very noble lady whom I have the honor of calling patrone.” So Mr.Collins is a person who sacrifices his marriage to reality and reputation.

In spite of Mr.Bingley and Mr.Darcy’s values, I think, Wickham and Mr.Collins’s attitudes toward marriage should be the majority of values at that time.Males pursue high status and money rather than love.So how could they be happy? Their marriages are doomed to tragedies.

Now we will throw our eyes back to females.Of course, Elizabeth Benet is our first consideration.Elizabeth Bennet is the main character and protagonist. The reader sees the unfolding plot and the other characters mostly from her viewpoint. The second of the Benet daughters at twenty years old, she is intelligent, lively, attractive, and witty, but with a tendency to judge on first impreions and perhaps to be a little selective of the evidence upon which she bases her judgments.Elizabeth believed that marriage must be based on love, which is one of the reasons why she misunderstood Mr.Darcy before. She is such a girl with great wit, courage and self-conscience so that she is not polluted by society and keeps her own opinions. And at last grasped Mr.Darcy’s heart tightly and live a happy life.In contrast to Elizabeth, her intimate friend Charlotte Lucas doesn’t think highly either of men or of matrimony, marriage had always been her object. She believes that it is the only honorable provision for well-educated young women of small fortune, and however uncertain of giving happine, must be their pleasantest preservative from want.So although Mr.Collins to be sure was neither sensible nor agreeable; his society was irksome, and his attachment to her must be imaginary. But still, he would be her husband. This is a miserable marriage which put interest ahead of everything.

It seems a little bit difference between males and females’ attitudes towards marriage.Males completely regard money and status beyond everything while women conceal something in some degree but still be obseed by reality.Elizabeth is an exception.Jane Austen expreed

marriage and love vividly among gentlemen and ladies around her by her specific female foresight. She criticized the civil marriages through Elizabeth’s tongue. It was obviously that the author not approved that money should be totally divided with love, but not equal to love.It was true that money played an important role in marriage, but it not means one can gain love and marriage through his big fortune. The author made full of other ladies’ relationships to expre the ideal marriage of Elizabeth.

I have the same opinion with Jane Austen on marriage and love.According to the novel, the marriage based on money and reputation is not stable at all and people can not feel happy.Whether you admit or not, marriage and love do sometimes aociate with property and status, in my eyes, it not completely lies on property and status.Marriage should be based on mutual love and respect.

In a word, we can’t judge a person without any further recognize or by other people’s words!

LoveTypes

My understanding and half-finish of the book Pride and Prejudice, its movie helps me a great deal.Having a clear idea about each person¡¯s emotions¡¢feelings and traits, I fully understand it, which I find completely neceary to speak highly of as an exceeding affecting love story, though sadne(Elizabeth, with whose head the detestation towards Mr.Darcy who appears to be highly proud ¡¢superior and conceited at everyone¡¯s first sight, filled at their first meet in the ball) spreads as soon as the story begins, a happy end, turn out to be at length.

This well-known to every family story, which is about love between a beautiful young lady and a handsome young gentleman., written by Jane Austen. The former lives in countryside with four other sisters brought up in family without even a tutor, while the latter raised in strict ¡¢traditional rules, inculcated with polite breeding and earns ten thousand pounds per year.

At then circumstance, in which fierce well-matched marriage value was still deeply rooted in every member¡¯s mind. The poibility of their love leads them to marriage appears to be out of reach.Because: the disinclinations, which Elizabeth has nothing except ,towards Mr.Darcy after in the ball her ask to dance with him refused. No sooner places she the trust in Officer Wickham¡¯s malicious prejudice against him, besides increasing the detestation, she is even so a little bit fond of Wickham that she can¡¯t prevent herself from looking for him in the ball held in Netherfield where Mr.Darcy¡¯s friend- Mr.Bingley lives, and disappointment swelled after finding his absence.Till this, the impoibility of Elizabeth¡¯s marry Darcy seems to be certain.Sever months later, she happens to overhear it¡¯s Mr.Darcy separated Mr.Bingley from Jane, her eldest sister, the hatred increases sharply to the edge. However, one of her sisters Lydia elopes with Wickham, who secretly ask her father for a huge amount of charge. This event confirms Wickham¡¯s dark character which has been mentioned in Mr.Darcy¡¯s explanation letter given to Elizabeth.Ice seems to melt slowly; Elizabeth seems to begin to trust him a little. What another good news later to be is that she accidentally learns the it was Mr.Darcy again shoulder the whole cost of Lydia¡¯s wedding with Wickham.Lydia spills the beans when she lost herself in ecstasy. The moment on hearing this, she is greatly shocked, then highly touched, finding she has wronged??Mr.Darcy all the way, hearty saying with tears in eyes to her father when facing Mr.Darcy¡¯s proposal ¡°I do, I do like him.I love him.Indeed he has no improper pride. He is perfectly amiable¡± .The ice hitherto entirely melts which always stands before a hearty love. The end, everybody seems to know, they living in forever felicity, just as wished.Four kinds of person I consider there are in this book, according

to attitude towards love. Each archetype , which can be applied to even now, comes from and goes back to allude to the relevant social one.The first one is Mr.Collins as fine model, who took the advantage of his poeion of Mr.Bennet¡¯s house to propose to Elizabeth, then refused, but ridiculously thinks her repeated refusal is usual with young ladies to reject the addrees of man whom they secretly meant to accept. Then, he hopelely marries Charlottle, Elizabeth¡¯s friend. This kind is self-conceited¡¢proud¡¢unauming and ignorant, similar to those who consider everyone would marry money, and treat love as trade, or just intent to find a life-long companion instead of a life-long lover, when they being at marry age.Another word: They follow their age, not feeling from the bottom of heart.

The second is Lydia as good example, similar to those who always take a shine to lady-killers at the first sight, and so blindly fall in love that leave aside family member¡¯s cares and advices, resulting in easily taken in for their light love (if it can be called love) which ruined their felicity in return.

The two above both are love players.Has anybody ever thought of one who combines both of them exists. The answer is Mrs.Bennet, who eager to introduce all her daughters to Mr.Bingley in the ball with the hope of one of them could be singled out; who screams out along with Lydia when seeing charming officers paing in line in the street; who coaxes and threats Elizabeth to accept Mr.Collins¡¯s offer of marriage.Similar to those kinds of parents who always try every thing to make , sometimes even force their children to marry the rich. The last kind is Elizabeth¡¢Jane¡¢Mr.Darcy¡¢Mr..Bingley as fine examples.??They take affection serious, as a matter of entire life.No matter poor¡¢fortune¡¢sick¡¢healthy, as long as love make each other close, they will always go whole hog to carry on the entire life together, screw courages to overcome whatever threats¡¢forces jump out.Because they have already realized what they are when finding whom they born to live with for the whole life.Nothing in the world could stop the faith. The book says so, so does the truth.I believe this kind of person will be forever happy, for following their real feelings and instinct, not money¡¢fortune or anything else.

Truth be told, I didn¡¯t finish the book before the writing. But having watched its movie aures me what worthy reading and what fascinating to be got, convinces me to carry on and repeat. What I¡¯m talking about may appear to be superficial, they are my inner voice indeed.

Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice is a novel by Jane Austin, first published in 1813.The story follows the main character Elizabeth Bennet as she deals with iues of manners, upbringing, morality, education and marriage in the society of the landed gentry of early 19th-century England.

In the Pride and Prejudice written by Austin, the heroine Elizabeth deeply loved a person named Darcy.Darcy wanted to marry with Elizabeth, but was refused.Because Darcy\'s pride is actually a reflection of differences in status.

\'Pride and prejudice\' tells the tale of how the aloof Mr.Darcy came to be with the feisty ms.Elizabeth bennet.Because of property a position, Darcy is born with pride, which leads to the prejudice of Elizabeth. But finally they get rid of their pride and prejudice and find their true love.Through its vivid characters, pride and prejudice contrasts many human qualities: depth and superficiality; honesty and dishonesty; pride and humility; independence and servile compliance; selfishne and generous. The movie very respects the original, it still shows the writer’s idea about love and marriage: it’s wrong to get married just for property, wealth and status while neither would it be without caring about those elements.Jane Austen just attached great significance to marriage by telling people that marriage shouldbe regarded carefully cause it is not a game you could just enjoy without prudent consideration. This movie is very enjoyable, like melodious and claicaltweedle, like calm and full of vitality of rural life, like Darcy including his pride.I also like

quiet calm, kind and shy Jane, and lively, cheerful easy-going Bingley. They find their true love too. In the end, when Darcy gently call Elizabeth at Mrs.Darcy in the night sky, the air filled with happine, sweet seems to direct the audience \'s heart.I love the happy edding.

087161 20161000658 I always thought that a masterpiece with such a high name must be serious literature. Surprisingly, it turned out to be a romantic novel.I was disappointed at the beginning of reading it.

However, after reading other people\'s impreion, my thoughts began to change. Jane Austen-- was born in a well regulated family at the end of the eighteenth Century. This novel is more like the depiction of the love she longs for.

It is the ancestor of modern romantic novels and have more rigorous logic than them The proce of Darcy and Elizabeth gradually abandoning their pride and Prejudice in love strikes one snag after another .The story set up a correct view of love earlier --Love should not be bound by status and money and the quality of a person is the most important.

Reading note

Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by the famous English writer, Jane Austen, who was the sixth children in a family of seven and was born in the village of steventon in Hampshire in 1775 and died of Addison’s disease in 1817.The book first published on 28 January 1813 by the bookseller Thomas Egerton who had also published Sense and Sensibility, the original version of the novel was written in 1796-1797 under the title First Impreions .

Pride and Prejudice is a love story, mainly tells the love between Elizabeth and Darcy. It divided into 2 volumes and is composed of 42 chapters altogether. The major characters are Mr.Darcy, A rich and proud young man.Elizabeth, the second eldest daughter of Mr.and Mrs.Bennet.Mr.Bingley , A rich young bachelor.Jane, the first daughter of Mr.and Mrs.Bennet.The story begin with Bingley’s arrival. One day when Mrs.Bennet hear Bingley has taken Netherfield, a house near her’s.She is so happy and arranged one of her five daughters marriage with him.At a ball, luckly, Bingley and Jane fall in love at the first sight.Darcy, a friend of Bingley’s , was attracted to Elizabeth, a lively and spirited girl. But Darcy greatly offends her by his supercilious behavior and this dislike is increased by Wickham, a dashing young militia officer of the unjust treatment he has met with at Darcy\'s hands. One day when Darcy and Bingley’s two sisters disgusted with the vulgarity of Mrs.Bennet and her two youngest daughters, effectively separated Bingley and Jane.Meanwhile, Collins, a cousin of Mr.and Mrs.Bennet, married charlotte, a friend of Elizabeth’s, for Elizabeth’s refuse to marry him.But One day Darcy send Elizabeth a letter, in which he justifies the separation of his friend Bingley and Jane and make it clear that Wickham is.So Elizabeth changed her opinions and ideas toward him.Once when Elizabeth visited her uncle and aunt in the north of England, she met Darcy there and witneed his changes through series of behaviors, no longer pride and become gentle and attentive, all these made their marriage arranged, and they also suitably provided for Bingley and Jane’s reunited and engaged. The story ends with both their happy marriages.

My point of view towards the masterpiece of Jane Austen’s is that this novel reflects the English human sentiment of the end of 18th century and the early of 19th century under the circumstance of conservative, and tells us the difference ways and attitudes to marriage of Mr.and Mrs.Bennet’s five daughters’.Thereby reveal the author herself attitude towards marriage, that is love and marriage based on money, property and social status is not perfect, but it is also stupid Without considering all of these. There, the author emphasize the importance of ideal marriage, meanwhile, to be opposed to love & marriage based on money or property and to be opposed to people’s laugh love & marriage off.The author takes the affection/love as the cornerstone of ideal marriage between male and female.Elizabeth as the leading character in this novel, was born in the family of squireen’s, and is loved by Darcy.Darcy propose marriage to her in spite of difference in the poeion of property and social status, but is refused by

Elizabeth for his pride , the novel demonstrate that if the pride of Darcy’s existed , there will be no love and also happy marriage between Elizabeth and he, it is really nice that Elizabeth witne the changes of Darcy’s through series of behavior in the following days.viewing that he is no longer pride and then eliminating her prejudice to him, finally engaged with him and leading a happy marriage. The author described that female is in pursuit of independent personality and equal right through several different attitudes of Elizabeth for Darcy’s propose marriage.Meanwhile, demonstrate Elizabeth’s independent understanding for a happy marriage. In this article, the writer described several unperfect marriages of Elizabeth’s sisters and close friends, aimed at making a sharp contrast with Elizabeth’s beatific marriage and revealed that marriage without love but base on social status and property actually is a kind of public tragedies.Humorous, ironical, polished language and real storyline is also occurred in this article.

Many people simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters. The characters have their own personalities.Mrs.Bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters.Mr.Bingley is a friendly young man, but his friend, Mr.Darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior.Even the five daughters in Bennet family are very different.Jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others.Elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion.Mary likes reading claic books.(Actually she is a pedant.) Kitty doesn’t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia.Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate. When I read the book, I can always find the same personalities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century.

The family of gentleman in the countryside is Jane Austen’s favourite topic. But this little topic can reflect big problems. It concludes the stratum situation and economic relationships in Britain in her century. You can find these from the very beginning of this book.

The first sentence in this book is impreive. It reads: “It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in poeion of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”.The undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but poeion.

People always think that Austen was an expert at telling love stories. In fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs. After reading this book, I know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man.

I couldn’t forget how eager Mrs.Bennet wants to marry off her daughters. If you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, I must mention the situation in Britain at that time.Only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his father’s poeions.Younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in poeion of a large fortune to continue their comfortable lives. Thus, we can see that getting married is a way to become wealthier, particularly for women without many poeions.Jane Austen told us that money and poeion determined everything, including marriage and love in her century.

In “Pride and Prejudice”, the sister of Mr.Bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying Jane because the Bennets don’t have many poeions and their social positions are much lower than them. From this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. The society, the relatives would not allow them to get married.

In modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people’s mind.A lot of parents try hard to interfere their children’s marriages.Education background, poeions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one’s marriage.Marry for money is still a big problem in our society. We can’t help thinking: can money determine everything?

Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems.Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics.I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and claic.Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.

\"Pride and prejudice\" this book in junior high school have touched.Just at that time only saw the emotional entanglement between the actor and actre, ups and downs mood and let people immersed in them, after a few years, through again, do not have a flavor.

Bennet had five daughters were not married, and Mrs.Bennet is a neurotic vanity is dye-in-the-wood woman, will each is her this life only event but never bother to discipline daughter\'s behavior, and Mr.Bennett is a family-centered old gentleman, but orgiastically wife and daughter\'s inappropriate behavior, prefer to hide into the library to seek calm.Jane Bennett is bennet\'s daughter, beautiful appearance, disposition gentle, quiet, Ellie was Bennett is bennet family second daughter, personality vivacious, intelligent and beauty and rig, The third daughter Mary looks not if other sisters well, therefore in character and knowledge on studying hard, but also caused her arrogant attitude; The Kitty ranked fourth personality buckish, with yao sister Lydia hottest loyal dancing, behavior often disrespect not know; Yao daughters vanity, pay attention to enjoyment, dancing and and army officers dou make fun is her sole purpose in life. One day the near their house moved to a rich single man bingley Charles. He is a personality temperate, personhood sincere not the nuances of the rich young man, in a banquet bingley but love on the bennet daughter Jane, and Jane Bennett mutual love, While bingley\'s good friend darcy · fee Bates William personality formal serious, mismanagement words often give a person arrogance arrogance impreed, unwittingly like work knuts the second daughter of house was Ellie, but because the Bennett a itself is not decent family make these two relationship by obstacle, Ellie was the beginning of arrogance darcy bias, the main thing is to describe their this relationship transformation proce.

Pride and Prejudice is a chefdoeuvre. But my first impreion of this story was from screen.

It\'s long long ago, maybe before I can read english books.I don\'t remember which movie edition I had seen. But I was impreed by the music, the scenery and the costume.I was very favor of a section of music in its balls.It\'s pretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird.Regarding to the characters, I liked Elizabeth, the heroine, though I didn\'t think she\'s beautiful. But she\'s smart. However, I didn\'t pay much attention to the plot.I thought it\'s so long that it made me impatient and bored.By now, I haven\'t read the whole story in English or its Chinese version, either.I owe it to my prejudice.

In fact, I didn\'t understand the story at that time.I didn\'t know why it called Pride and Prejudice.Of course someone was pride, but I didn\'t find where\' s the prejudice.I thought it\'s normal, the way people treated each other in that.I considered prejudice would be very disgusting. But to the movie everthing was OK in my minds, except its length. Now, I think I have understood more about it.I\'m a prejudiced person so I can\'t find where\'s wrong.I merely like to do the things I like.Everytime I meet somebody or something,my thinking about he or it all depends on my foregone experience and my mood of the time.I like it so just like it, if not so just not.I\'m a person thinking by heart not by brain. What is worse, I actually didn\'t think it\'s wrong.I thought everyone is all like has his special way to cognize the world. So it\'s individuality, not prejudice. But I think something is wrong.Though everyone can judge in the way he likes, he can\'t ignore other ones. You can like what you like and hate what you hate, but you should be objective when you meet external world.I think it means that you should consider things roundly, not just partial.Individuality is different from prejudice. What is it? I need to think more.

Love seems to be the perpetual theme all over the world. But actually what is love? For most girls in 20s, love may mean everything to them. They seek for love bravely no matter what difficulties they may face.In their eyes, love is pure or even holy. However, those are just an ideal situation, n real life; people tend to find a balance between love and property.

Pride and prejudice is Austin’s great work.Through the discuion of the different marriages and love, the writer demonstrates her concept about love and marriage: love and marriage is closely aociated with property and society, however, love and marriage can not only be decided by the property and social status. An ideal marriage should be based on mutual affection, respect and the same interest. She rejects the marriage based only on wealth.

Different people have different ideas upon marriage.By the description and discuion of the four marriages in the novel, we can see that Austen fully exprees her views on love and marriage.Only by appreciating the marriage founded on the basis of mutual understanding and true love, but also by satirizing the marriage founded on the basis of origin and desire.

The marriage based on social position and money can’t bring happine in life.Aimle marriage and love are unpractical.

Everything goes wrong for poor couples.Marriage based on wealth is not a fault. At least, it can offer us a better condition of life.Property is not everything in the life but without it, we can do nothing. This is called reality. But if you only married for wealth, you sell your liberty. The rest of your life might be miserable, and your marriage will filled with endle bitterne.

Book Review : Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice is a very claic book written by Jane Austen, an English novelist whose works of romantic fiction , is one of the most well-known writers in the world. Her realism and biting social commentary has gained her historical importance among scholars and critics.Pride and Prejudice is one of the representative works of Jane Austen, first published in 1813.Though the story\'s setting is turn-of-the-19th-century, it retains a fascination for modern readers, continuing near the top of lists of most loved books. The novel mainly tells us a love story between Elizabeth who from a poor family and Mr.Darcy who is a rich young man and used to be very proud .It is at a ball that Elizabeth meets Mr.Darcy for the first time and his pride and supercilious behaviors has left Elizabeth a terrible impreion .This is the reason why Elizabeth\'s prejudice towards him at first .Besides this reason , there are two other reasons strengthens Elizabeth\'s prejudice .The first is that Wickham speaks ill of Mr.Darcy behind his back, which makes she thinks him is unworthy to knowing more about him .The second one is that Elizabeth regards Darcy is the person who separates her sister Jane and Mr.Bingley .But with the plots developing ,Darcy has changed himself and become no longer pride ,he also helps Jane and Bingley\'s reunion .All these factor change Elizabeth\'s attitude towards Darcy.Eventually , Elizabeth and Darcy break all the obstacles and become a couple and lead a happy life from then on.From the book, we can see, owingto Darcy’s proud, he offends the girl he loves, and because of the prejudice, Elizabeth is failed to see the advantage of Darcy, but fortunately, they didn’t mi each other ultimately.I still remember the first sentence said in the book: “It is a truth well known to the world that an unmarried man in poeion of a large fortune must be in need of a wife.” Through this sentence I think maybe the writer want to tell us her views and attitudes about love and marriage. So the theme is very clear : Marriage should be based on a real love .the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but poeion.Love seems to be a perpetual theme all the time .I love this story, it arouse people’s awarene of the importance of true love in a marriage , also it make me believe the true love.

All shall be well, Jack shall have Jill.

(Bingley & Darcy is walking form the door, Elizabeth & Jane are looking at them) Elizabeth: Smile at Mr.Bingley.Smile! (to Jane) Father: Mr.Bingley, this is Jane and her sister Elizabeth.Mother: It is a pleasure.l have three others, but they\'re already dancing.Bingley: I\'m delighted to make your acquaintance.Father: And may l introduce Mr.Darcy of Pemberley in Derbyshire.Jane: How do you like it here in Hertfordshire? Bingley: Very much! Elizabeth: The library at Netherfield, I\'ve heard, is one of the finest.Bingley: It fills me with guilt.I\'m not a good reader.I prefer being out doors…Oh, l mean, l can read, of course. And I\'m not suggesting you can not read out of doors.Jane: I wish l read more, but there seem to be so many other things to do.Bingley: That\'s exactly what l meant.(Bingley is dancing with Jane.) Elizabeth: Do you dance, Mr.Darcy? Darcy: Not if l can help it.(一曲结束)

Mother: How well you dance, Mr.Bingley.Bingley: I\'ve never enjoyed a dance so much.Mother: My daughter Jane is a splendid dancer, is she not? Bingley: She is indeed.Mother: Of course, it\'s my Jane who\'s considered the beauty of the county. When she was 15, a gentleman did write her some very verses.Elizabeth: I wonder who discovered the power of poetry in driving away love.Darcy: I thought poetry was the food of love.Of a fine, stout love.Elizabeth But if it is only a vague inclination, one poor sonnet will kill it.Darcy: So, what do you recommend to encourage affection? Elizabeth: Dancing.Even if one\'s partner is barely tolerable.

Darcy: May I have the next dance, Mi Elizabeth? Elizabeth: You may.Elizabeth: Did I agree to dance with Mr.Darcy? Charlotte: I dare say you will find him amiable.Elizabeth: It would be most inconvenient since I\'ve worn to loathe him for all eternity.(Elizabeth is dancing with Darcy) Elizabeth: I love this dance.Darcy: Indeed. Most invigorating.Elizabeth: It is your turn to say something, Mr.Darcy.I talked about the dance. Now you ought to remark on the size of the room or the number of couples.Darcy: I\'m perfectly happy to oblige. What would you like most to hear? Elizabeth: That reply will do for present… Perhaps by and by l may observe that private balls are much pleasanter than public ones…For now, we may remain silent.Darcy: Do you talk as a rule while dancing? Elizabeth: No, No, I prefer to be unsociable and taciturn…Makes it all so much more enjoyable, don\'t you think?

Darcy: Tell me, do you and your sisters very often walk to Meryton? Elizabeth: Yes, it\'s a great opportunity to meet new people.Darcy: Mr.Wickham\'s bleed with such happy manners, he\'s sure of making friends.Whether he\'s capable of retaining them is le so.Elizabeth: He\'s been so unfortunate as to lose your friendship. That is irreversible? Darcy: It is.Why do you ask such a question? Elizabeth: To make out your character.Darcy: What have you discovered? Elizabeth: Very little.Darcy: I hope to afford you more clarity in the future.S3 雨中告白,爱恨交融(此段是重头戏)

Darcy: Mi Elizabeth.I have struggled in vain and can bear it no longer. These past months have been a torment.I came to Rosings only to see you.I have fought against judgment, my family\'s expectation, the inferiority of your birth, my rank.I will put them aside and ask you to end my agony.Elizabeth: I don’t understand.Darcy: I love you.(Pause) Most ardently.

Darcy: (cont\'d) the inferiority of your birth ...my rank and circumstance...(Stumblingly) all those things...but I\'m willing to put them aside...and ask you to end my agony...Elizabeth: I don\'t understand...Darcy: (with paion) I love you. Most ardently.Elizabeth stares at him.Darcy: (cont\'d) Please do me the honor of accepting my hand.(A silence.Lizzie struggles with the most painful confusion of feeling. Finally she recovers.) Elizabeth: (voice shaking) Sir, I appreciate the struggle you have been through, and I am very sorry to have caused you pain.Believe me, it was unconsciously done.(A silence.Gathering her shawl, she gets to her feet.) Darcy: (stares) is this your reply? Elizabeth: Yes, sir.Darcy: Are you laughing at me? Elizabeth: No! Darcy: Are you rejecting me? Elizabeth: (pause) I\'m sure that the feelings which, as you\'ve told me, have hindered your regard, will help you in overcoming it.(A terrible silence, as this sinks in.Neither of them can move.At last, Darcy speaks. He is very pale.) Darcy: Might I ask why, with so little endeavor at civility, I am thus repulsed? Elizabeth: (trembling with emotion) I might as well enquire why, with so evident a design of insulting me, you chose to tell me that you liked me against your better judgment. If I was uncivil, that was some excuseeven, on occasion, your father.Forgive me.(Lizzie blushes. He has hit home.Darcy paces up and down.) Darcy: (cont\'d) you and your sister - I must exclude from this...(Darcy stops. He is in turmoil.Lizzie glares at him, ablaze.) Elizabeth: And what about Mr.Wickham? Darcy: Mr.Wickham? Elizabeth: What excuse can you give for your behaviors? Darcy: You take an eager interest.Elizabeth: He told me of his misfortunes.Darcy: Oh, they have been great.Elizabeth: You ruin his chances yet treat him with sarcasm.Darcy: So this is your opinion of me? Thank you.Perhaps these offences might have been overlooked had not your pride (Elizabeth: My pride?!) been hurt by my scruples about our relationship.I am to rejoice in the inferiority of your circumstances? Elizabeth: And those are the words of a gentleman.Your arrogance and conceit, your selfish disdain for the feelings of others made me realize you were the last man in the world l could ever marry.Darcy: Forgive me, madam, for taking up so much of your time.(Darcy 走了,留给Elizabeth一封信,说了Wickham的事及他拆散Bingley与Jane的原委,Elizabeth对她对Darcy的偏见感到懊悔。

Mr.Bennet: Shut the door, please.Lizzie, are you out of your senses? I thought you hated the man.Elizabeth: No, Papa. Mr.Bennet: He is rich, to be sure. And you will have more fine carriages than Jane. But will that make you happy? Elizabeth: Have you no other objection than your belief in my indifference? Mr.Bennet: None at all.We all know him to be a proud, unpleasant sort of fellow. But this would be nothing if you liked him.Elizabeth: I do like him.I love him…He\'s not proud.I was wrong.I was entirely wrong about him…You don\'t know him, Papa.lf I told you what he was really like, what he\'s done...Mr.Bennet: What has he done? (Elizabeth told all the thing to Mr.Bennet…) Mr.Bennet: Good Lord.I must pay him back.Elizabeth: No.You mustn\'t tell anyone. He wouldn\'t want it.We misjudged him, Papa.Me, more than anyone, in every way, not just in this matter.I\'ve been nonsensical. But he\'s been a fool about Jane, about so many other things. But then, so have I.You see, he and I are... he and I are so similar.We\'re both so stubborn.Papa, I...Mr.Bennet: You really do love him, don\'t you? Elizabeth: Very much.Mr.Bennet: Then, I heartily give my consent.Elizabeth: Thank you, papa.Mr.Bennet: If any young men come for Mary or Kitty, for heaven\'s sake, send them in.I\'m quite at my leisure.
