5.The Positive and Negative Aspects of Skyscrapers
In recent years with fast economic growth, many skyscrapers have appeared in big cities of China.People’s attitude towards the skyscrapers varies widely.
Some think of them as a sign of economic progre and a miracle of modern architecture.They also believe that building skyscrapers helps to solve the problem of the growing scarcity of land in the city, for they can obtain the maximum space per square meter of ground and meanwhile offer to the tenants offices and apartments that please them.Yet others speak of the problems skyscrapers have brought.They complain that the monstrous edifices interfere with television reception, blot out the sun and create many dark sunle streets.Besides, exceively large maes of human beings working in a single gigantic building overburden public transportation.Lightening, heating, and air conditioning strain energy supplies, to the extent that skyscrapers become lavish consumers, and wasters, of electric power.Worst of all, their reflective glaes coated with silver or gold mirror films raise the temperature of the surrounding air.
With these problems and the effect the skyscraper has exerted on the environment, more and more people have begun to wonder whether skyscrapers are neceary or desirable.
6.If There Were No Advertisements
Nowadays, advertisements can be found everywhere in a big city such as Shanghai.They shout at us from the television screen and radio loudspeakers, wave to us from every page of the newspaper, signal to us from the roadside billboards all day and flash meage to us in coloured lights all night.
Faced with a flood of advertisements, some people wonder whether it is neceary to have such huge sums spent on advertising.They often cite in illustration of it in attractive, but false and deceptive advertisements to which many consumers fall victim.They suggest that since advertising is an entirely unproductive industry and may even harm the customers\' interest, why don\'t we stop advertising and use the money to reduce the price of goods? It sounds like a good idea, but they fail to noticed the contribution advertising makes to our society.Because the production of a better product to compete for customers\' money is the goal of advertisers, customers are thus given a chance to compare their products and get the best and cheapest one.Besides, as the advertisement can provide people with a lot of immediate and detailed information as to the availability of a certain product, or a service or a job, it makes life much more convenient.And another thing we mustn\'t forget: the fact that we pay so little for our daily newspapers and TV programme is due entirely to the money spent by advertisers.
Advertising performs such a useful service to our society that we can’t imagine what would happen if there were no advertisements.

唉，不说了，不说了，转一段郎教授的话，看了他的讲座，挺有感触的。虽然他说的也不一定对，只是希望大家都不要盲目，毕竟，时间是自己的。

对于内地的研究生我有什么建议？我认为，现在找工作难，念研究生对很多内地学生而言是一种逃避。我告诉两个儿子，你们千万不要在任何地方念研究生，你们千万不要走上我这条路。原因是我希望他们在本科或者是专科毕业之后，能够先进入社会，了解自己想干的事。我认为年轻人最可贵的资产是有一个不用兑现的选择权。对于年轻人而言，你们不要急于选择，而要给自己更多的选择空间。
对一个本科生而言，如果你到社会上参加工作，你不但没有放弃念研究生的选择，而且同时也抓住了另外一个就业的选择。在这期间，说不定你会碰到喜欢的职业，也说不定你会遇到一个提拔你的领导。因此，你的选择空间打开了。如果你一旦决定念研究生——念博士那是最糟糕的选择，你的路将变得非常窄。所以我建议各位，即使你本科毕业之后很难找到工作，也不要念研究生，因为，年轻的时候多受点磨难，多看点别人的脸色，多吃点苦，对你来说只有好处没有害处。你还年轻，还有失败的本钱，也有再成功的机会，千万不要在年轻的时候，因为怕挑战而选择了读书这条路。你应该怎么样？勇敢地面对挑战，不怕失败。再说谁没有经历过失败？像我这一生失败太多了，而且年轻时候的失败对你的正面影响是非常大的，但是，到了40岁～50岁，在我这个年纪，你再失败就无可挽回了。我建议你们勇敢地面对你所面临的一切，把自己的工作做好。我希望在座的各位来宾，要勇敢地面对社会所带给你们的种种磨难。在年轻时候多受点磨难，多一些有益的积累，能保障你们未来的成功。

GMO is to modify, to fix, to splice, to recombine the genes for new organisms or much adoptable species.The technology of GMO is mainly applied in food supplies, such as vegetables, crops and animals, and medical care.
The positive side of GMO is evident.In the agriculture field, GMO foods can increase crop production, food quality and the diversity of species, for instance, more drought-resistant plants.And in the medical field, it could produce special elements, as some proteins, and even organs to treat some certain diseases.
However, the negative side of GMO is uncertain.It may do harm to some insects and human body.It may also affect the growth of the surrounding plants and animals, and even may cause biological pollution and destroy the local ecosystem.
By the end of 2013, the GMO plantation areas were expanded to 170 million hectares in the world and there are about 4 million hectares in China.And whether GMO is safe, there is no certain evidence.The maturity and benefits of genetic technology can never be justifiable for its wide application.
So in my part, we can never be too careful in the spreading of GMO.

本课程的教学对象是研究生英语教学改革试点班的非英语专业研究生。
二、教学目的和要求
本课程是为我校非英语专业研究生开设的一门必修课程， 该课程详细介绍英语演讲技巧系统，讲解和讨论有关英语演讲的基本知识，旨在培养学生公众演讲和口头交流能力。这门课程的知识性内容不多，不是理论传授型课程，是一门以实践为主的课程。主要通过演讲技巧和知识的讲解、讨论及分析，通过有指导的阅读和训练，使学生逐步了解英语演讲的类型与技巧，提高公众表达能力，从而为下一阶段的国际学术会议演讲打下坚实的基础。 本课程旨在向学生介绍基本演讲技能，通过演讲锻炼英语表达能力、提高沟通能力及领导才能。课程通过介绍英语演讲的基本知识，要求学生了解演讲语言、演讲稿谋篇的基本特点，不仅在语言上能达意，而且要充分调动各种非语言因素，如：眼神、动作等，以达到有效沟通的目的。本课程致力于帮助学生建立信心，最终获得得体流畅、言为心声的英语演讲及雄辩能力，以适应今后工作和社会交往中各种公众演讲场合的需要。本课程的主要内容包括：
（1）帮助学生建立信心，克服怯场和紧张情绪。
（2）认识公众演讲的三种类型，信息类(informative)，劝说类(persuasive)，特殊场合类(ceremonial)，根据场合的需要调动不同的演讲技巧。观摩经典演讲，指导学生掌握不同类型演讲的基本要领。
（3）学写演讲稿，标注演讲稿，列演讲提纲。组织专题讨论会，研读并背诵经典的演讲稿，分析演讲稿的内容创意，语言特点及修辞手段。
（4）在带视觉辅助材料的条件下进行公众演讲。
（5）学习演讲礼仪。作为演讲者，必须尊重听众，遵守时限；作为听众，应该学会倾听与沟通。
（6）正音练习。对有发音困难的学生，要设计针对性的练习方式，如绕口令，唱歌，辨音等。
三、教学计划和进度
本课程共开设1学期，每学期教学周数为15周，每周为2学时，共计30学时。
四、教学模式
英语演讲课的形式多样，学生参与度高。课堂上，遵循精讲多练，以学生为主的原则，采取问答、故事复述、模拟演讲、讨论等有利于学生学习英语并能引发学生对英语学习兴趣的多种课堂活动的方式， 以便达到教学目的。要求学生课下进行大量阅读，课上做好笔记，课后复习，背诵部分经典演讲文章，进行大量演讲模拟训练，使学生在公众表达能力方面得到提高。具体授课形式：
1学生讨论+教师讲解+师生问答 2观看经典+分析经典+背诵经典 3演讲+同学评委提问+评论： 4讲故事+问答：寓言，经历，名人轶事，每人至少准备一个问题
五、第二课堂建设 第二课堂英语教学设计，以学生为主体，教师引导和组织学生的各项活动，延伸和增强教学的实践性和趣味性，提高学生学习英语的积极性，拓展学生的演说和演示能力。 第二课堂活动可由任课教师和学生共同协商确定，每学期选择2项活动。活动设计可参考借鉴下列内容：
（一）英语演讲比赛
该活动在小组推荐的基础上，选择小组代表进行决赛, 所获得的成绩属于小组每个人（决赛选手有加分）。演讲比赛由命题演讲和老师现场提问二部分组成，各占80%和20%。根据演讲比赛的目的和宗旨，要制定出相应的评分标准。
命题演讲具体要求如下：
（1）内容：观点正确鲜明，内容充实，材料丰富新颖，结构合乎逻辑。
（2）语言：要口语化，又要讲究修辞，有诚挚的感情，有吸引力和说服力。
（3）态势语言：自然大方，有利于演讲思想表达的需要。
（4）演讲效果：与听众交流融洽，听众产生认同感。
（二）英语ppt展示比赛
该活动以特定的主题为题目，以小组为单位开展, 每小组4-6人, 比赛包括作品评分和现场展示及问答两部分。在现场部分, 学生在规定的时间内展示和解说自己准备好的相关主题的ppt；评委针对ppt和学生的解说提出问题，一般来说，每位评委都必须提出问题，学生当场进行回答。
评分标准主要包括；ppt内容、ppt设计、ppt技术应用、展示语言和表达、展示仪态与效果、回答问题情况等
六、考核方式及成绩评定标准（详见考核大纲）
考核方式：总成绩100﹪＝平时成绩60﹪＋期末成绩40﹪.平时成绩包含：出勤（10%）、课堂表现（10%）、课堂演讲（30%）、第二课堂活动（10%）。
期末考试包含：期末考试：40%。

一、课程概述
（一）课程性质
《中小学教育研究方法》是教育硕士专业的一门学位基础课程，是教育管理方向、学科教学方向的必修课程。
（二）基本理念
该课程旨在向学生介绍教育研究的基本方法，提高应用教育理论研究和解决教育实践有关问题的能力，为我国教育的改革与发展培养具有研究素养的专家型教师。本课程要求学生结合学位论文的写作，主动参加教育研究实践，并在教育研究实践中，运用所学的内容，进行教育研究的选题、设计、实施的实际操作，提高运用教育科学研究方法的能力。
（三）设计思路
本课程教学包括原理讲授、案例分析、实践作业、实地研究几个模块。通过收集、整理、分析研究资料，体验研究过程，提升学生阅读文献、问题解决、逻辑思考、资料收集、整合分析、论说叙理等研究能力，养成独立思考、自我激励、克服困难、遵循研究伦理等研究态度。
二、课程目标
（一）总体目标
本课程是实践性与理论性并重的专业课程。课程目标是结合课程论文以及学位论文的写作，通过教育研究的选题、研究成果综述、研究设计、问卷设计与实施、课堂观察、行动研究以及学术论文的撰写等学习与实践，掌握教育研究的基本理论、一般步骤及主要方法，明确教育研究的基本程序与规范，提高运用教育研究方法的能力，从而提高运用教育理论分析和解决教育实践问题的能力，初步形成学生问题中心的研究意识和严谨认真的研究态度。
（二）具体目标
1、通过本课程的学习，学生初步了解教育研究的一般原理，基本掌握教育研究的一般过程和主要研究方法的程序性知识。
2、通过本课程的学习，学生学会科学地提出问题、阅读研究文献、形成理论假说、设计研究方案、编制和使用收集资料的工具与方法、使用统计工具和程序分析资料、撰写规范的科研论文、学位论文。
3、能够使用上述技能对他人和自己的研究成果进行评价。非外语专业研究生英语教学大纲
一、总 则
为了保证达到《中华人民共和国学位条例暂行实施办法》中规定的外国语要求，进行非外语专业研究生外语课程的教学工作，特制定本大纲。
研究生外语教学的宗旨是为了使学生掌握外语这门工具，进行本专业的学习、研究与国际交流，为我国的社会主义建设服务。在教学中要坚持从实际出发、学以致用的原则，培养和提高研究生运用外语的能力。
二、教学对象
本大纲的教学对象是非外语专业的硕士研究生(以下简称硕士生)。
三、教学目的
硕士生外语教学的目的是培养学生具有较熟练的阅读能力，一定
的写、译能力和基本的听、说能力，能够以外语为工具进行本专业的学习和研究。对听、说能力要求较高的专业，可根据需要，加强听、说能力的培养。
四、教学要求 1.词汇
理解性掌握5000个左右的常用单词及500个左右常用词组，复用性掌握其中2000个左右的基本词。认知120个左右常用词根和词缀，并能根据构词法识别派生词。
2.语法
能较熟练地运用语法知识，能理解语法结构复杂的长难句。 3.读
掌握并能运用各项阅读技能(如概括中心思想，猜词悟意，预见，推理和推论等)，具有语篇水平的分析能力。能较顺利地阅读并正确理解有相当难度的一般性题材文章和其它读物，速度达到每分钟60—70词，读后能够理解中心思想及内容。计时阅读难度略低、生词不超过总词数2%的材料，速度达到每分钟100—120词，读后能理解中心思想及主要内容。
4.写
掌握基本写作技能(如文章结构、段落展开和起承转合等)。能按具体要求，在1小时内写出250词左右的短文(如文章摘要和常用应用文等)，正确表达思想，语意连贯，无重大语言错误。
5.译
1)英译汉：能借助词典，将有相当难度的一般性题材文章译成汉语，理解正确，译文达意。笔译速度达到每小时350个左右英文词。
2)汉译英：能借助词典，将一般难度的短文译成外语，无重大语言错误，笔译速度达到每小时250个左右汉字。
6.听
对题材熟悉、难度不大、基本上没有生词、语速为每分钟120词的听力材料，一遍可以听懂，理解中心思想和主要内容。
7.说
能进行简单的日常对话。稍加准备，能就所讨论的问题进行1—2分钟的连续发言，表达思想基本清楚。
五、教学安排
研究生公共外语教学时数为108学时，安排在第一学年进行。
六、考试
硕士生外语学位课程考试应该全面反映本大纲的各项教学要求，单独组织考试和评分，每学期举行一次。考试不通过者，可在下一次学位课程考试时补考。
四、教学方式及方法
在教学实施方式上，体现自主学习、合作学习、研究性学习，采取课堂讲授、课堂讨论、田野研究、实地分析等方式教学。做到“两基于、三结合、四环节”。
两基于：基于问题的专题学习，基于任务驱动的课程学习。 三结合：提倡集中授课与平时自学相结合，班级授课与个别指导相结合，理论教学与实践训练相结合。
四环节：基于问题的文献综述——团队研讨——专题指导——学习成果（课程论文、案例分析、观察报告、调查研究等）
五、实施建议
（一）教学组织建议
理论学习、实践活动并重，学生在教师的引导下，结合学位论文的写作，进行一次完整的选题、收集与分析教育问题的资料、撰写研究结果的研究过程，使理论讲授与实践活动结合起来，感性认识与理性认识结合起来，突出学生实践能力的培养，提高教学的有效性。
运用讲授法进行系统的理论学习，运用案例分析、小组合作探究、实践操作、作业、论文等方式，让学生掌握教育研究方法在教育实践活动中的操作技术，形成初步的教育科学研究能力以及研究意识。充分运用现代多媒体教学资源，提高教学实效。运用学校图书资源、网络资源以及中小学基地，为学生提供教育科学研究必要的文献资源与实践基地。
（二）考核方式
考试。形成性评价与终结性评价相结合。形成性评价指对学生学习过程的评价（包括考勤、课堂参与、平时作业）等形式，该部分占40%。终结性评价是指课程结束后以课程论文的形式进行评价，主要以学生研究论文或研究报告考查学生对本课程的基本知识、基本原理的掌握，以及运用所学知识分析实际问题的能力，该部分占60%。

（四）课外学习资源和案例教学资源等 建立课程资源库。具体包括以下内容：
