Ambition is to life what compa [ˈkʌmpəs] is to journey.Without compa one may get lost, and if without ambition one may find no cue[kju:] to gain achievement.
There is a strong view holding that succe is a myth [mɪθ], and ambition therefore a sham[ʃæm].Does it mean that succe does not really exist? That achievement is at bottom [ˈbɒtəm] empty? However, even the most cynical [ˈsɪnɪkl] critics secretly [ˈsi:krət] admit that succe exists; that achievement counts for a great deal; and that the actions of men and women are futile [ˈfju:taɪl] is a ridiculous aertion [əˈsɜ:ʃn].
During the trip in Tokyo with my family I visited a famous sushi restaurant. What surprised me was that there are only 6 seats.I wondered why they don’texpand it to accommodate more customers and thus make even more profits[ˈprɒfɪt] until our local friends explained that all the top restaurants in Tokyo are in that small scale, and usually they only specialize in one signature [ˈsɪgnətʃə(r)] dish. The reason behind it is that the owners don’t want the quantity to diminish[dɪˈmɪnɪʃ] the quality, and only with small scale can they concentrate on achieving excellence and profeionalism [prəˈfeʃənəlɪzəm].Consequently the joy of achievement can delight themselves and surely the customers as well.
I find it ashamed that once when I was in high school my motto was: Done, not good.
However on the first day of my freshman year, some students introduced themselves to me by telling me that they want to be the president. While their attitudes and self-confidence speak for themselves, I couldn’t get rid of the self-doubt.Driven by such discomposure [ˌdɪskəm\'pəʊʒə(r)], I decided to do something meaningful here, and that is why I am now standing on this stage.
We do not choose to be born [bɔ:n].We do not choose our parents. We do not, most of us, choose to die, nor do we choose the time or conditions of our death. But we do have the right to choose the way we live:courageously [kə\'reɪdʒəslɪ] or cowardly, honorably or dishonorably [dɪs\'ɒnərəblɪ], with purpose or in drift. Our lives are formed by what we decide and choose. In the end, deciding our own destiny [ˈdestəni] is what ambition is about.
