Distinguished guest, ladies and gentlemen.
Good afternoon.
My topic today is “belief and faith”.To begin my speech I would like to share a story with you:
Once there are four explorers stumbling through a jungle with a heavy case.The captain, however, falls ill severely when the succe seems to be just around the corner.Before he dies he gives his fellows the box with the last words:”please be sure to have it arrived to my friend.You all will be awarded with something more precious than gold.”
After the burial of the captain the rest of the group walk on with the heavy box, but the forest seems like an endle maze.Moreover, with the increasing difficulties along the road they almost lose the hope and get ready for accepting the doomed demise in this bloody place.The dim light of “something more precious than gold” is the only thing that keeps them staggering forward in the mud.
One day they finally get out of the jungle and succeed in handing the box to that friend, whom, however, has absolutely no idea about the box thing.Together they open the box and right in front of their eyes is nothing but a pile of bare woods.
Do they get nothing but a bunch of worthle woods?
Not really, what they actually obtain, conversely, is indeed something more precious than gold, that is---life.
Without the captain’s words, which incrementally became a faith, how could they manage to survive?
As for us, being normal people, will all experience rise and fall throughout our lives with no exception.For me, it is the token and words of the Roger Rolls, the first black governor of New York, that always echo in my mind during the downturn of my life---“Belief worth? Faith is worthle, and it sometimes is a well-intentioned deception, but if you persevere, it will quickly rise.”
Will he ever be able to achieve the position without nurturing the tiny seed of encouragement” you can certainly become
governor” from his primary school teacher into an unswerving faith? Of course not, in fact it is obviously impoible to attain anything thoroughly with lacking in faith.
Just think about this---How many of you are ready to compete aggreively for everything you always dream of, whereas how many others are just ready to do as they are asked,--- sitting idle and waiting for whatever is to be aigned to you? For those industrious ones, is it the innermost faith that constantly bolsters your pursuance of eminence? While regarding the rest of you, when was the last time you tried to foster the seed of your faith within your heart? Can you still remember the pulse of it?
Tolstoy, the famous writer, once called the faith as the guide that sheds light upon road of our life, and so as Repin, the old master of Ruian who produced the great work of \"Trackers on the Volga \", had uttered such words “a man without belief is a trash” as well.
Faith, therefore, is the tremendous power that invigorates us to stride through the daunting darkne, to keep us pursuing in defiance of frustration, to rip up the waves of difficulties, to
subjugate the obstacles await and, in the end, to accompany us in savor of the final embrace of succe.
With the staunch faith my dearest friends, what could then make us succumb?
