Good afternoon, everyone! I’m Jack from Department of Physics.Today, I’m talking about the Independence Day of United States of America.

In the United States, Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.

My talk consists of four parts:The first is origin of Independence Day in US,fireworks,picnics and parades for the second,national flag for the third and the last part is Americans\' love for their country.

American Independence Day can date back to the independence war .At that time , America was one of the colonies of the Britan, and suffered a lot under the control of Britain.Great Britain kept trying to make the colonists follow more rules and pay higher taxes.For example,Stamp Duty Ordinance, Townshend Acts, Coercive Acts and the Boston Tea Party.People started getting mad and began making plans to be able to make their own rules.They no longer wanted Great Britain to be able to tell them what to do, so they decided to tell Great Britain that they were becoming an independent country.During that time ,on July 4th 1776 ,the Second Congre was held and adopted the Declaration of Independence, which was mainly drafted by Thomas Jefferson.Through tough struggle, they won the victory of the war and became an independent country .As a consequence ,July 4th has been celebrated as the Independence Day forever .The Declaration of Independence is more than just a piece of paper.It is a symbol of America\'s independence and commitment to certain ideas.

Some words in the Declartion are like this:We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that they are among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happine.

Fireworks are a feature of national day observations the world over, and play a major role in American celebrations..Firework shows are held in many states, and many fireworks are sold for personal use or as an alternative to a public show.Most fireworks shows in the United States end in an intense finale, with a volley of fireworks rapidly launched almost simultaneously.

Families often celebrate Independence Day by hosting or attending a picnic or barbecue.Outdoor barbecues and picnics are easy to prepare for the large number of people that often gather on the Fourth of July.The picnics are generally held in parks while waiting for fireworks, or at the beach.Picnics were traditionally carried in a

picnic basket, although coolers are more common now.

There are many symbols that can represent the United States of America, of which the most popular may be American national flag, the Statue of Liberty, Uncle Sam, the bald [bɔld] eagle and mount Rushmore.The national flag of the united states consists of 13 stripes and 50 stars .The stars on the flag represent the present number of states of the US, the red and white stripes, the original 13 colonies.

After all ,it is a day for people to expre their happine of being independent ,not a day for the government to show off the powerful military .In the evening of July 4th ,special TV programs will be broadcast .It is meaningful ,for one thing ,the programs can remind Americans of the history of their motherland ,for another ,they can encourage the Americans to spare no effort to make their country more beautiful and powerful .On balance ,American Independence Day is an significant festival in the eyes of Americans .Not only can they have a good time ,but also they can expre the love for motherland.
