Children’s WishesI’ve read a lot of fairy tales in summer holiday .[The Five Children With It] is my favourite, thewriter is Edith Nesbit.Cover with five children, they all have golden hair and blue eyes.Their surprised look let me can’t wait to read it.
It’s a wonderful world of children’s stories.It’s about five childern called Robert, Anthea, Jane, Cyril and a little baby.When they played in a gravel-pid, Anthea found a strange sand-fairy, its name is Psammead ,children stood and looked at it ,it could move its eyes and out on stalks ,it had big eyes and its body was fat and round and furry.
My favourite part is when they knew that psammead can help them to realize wishes, they all had many funny wishes, although when the sun goes down, everything goes back to what it was.It is so interesting that I can’t stop laughing.First, Anthea wanted to be pretty, but when she became pretty, their parents and nursemaid couldn’t regonize her,when the baby saw her,he cried loudly; then,they wanted be very rich, but when policemen saw the children with lots of money, they thought that the children were thieves and catched them; next, Cyril and other children wanted to have wings, but everyone was afraid of them and screamed and ran away when they saw the children with wings; and then Robert became the biggest people just because the tall and large baker’s boy pushed him, but soon he was the most exciting thing to see at the fair.All the wishes brought bad things.But their last wish made me feel moved,when they heard that their mum will come home, Robert and other children asked Psammead to give their mum lots of jewels.But soon when mum saw lots of jewels,she thought that jewels were stolen by someone and put these in her room, then she knew that only Martha’s boy friend went into her room,so she thought he was the thief to get jewels.Children felt sorry and unhappy,they knew he wasn’t a thief,so they went to ask Psammead for help as soon as they could.Children’s wishes are naive ,but they also very good ,care of family.
Cyril is my favourite character.He was clever, when his brother Robert became the biggest man and had to shake hands with every body and talk to show that he was real, and how could he escape at the end of the day? Then Cyril had an idea and told people that his brother must be alone when the sun went down because he got very strange and angry then, so people must leave his brother alone or he’ll hurt someone.After the sun went down, Robert ran away with Cyril, Cyril saved his brother.Cyril was not only clever but also honest.When he and other children had wings and had to fly for a long time, so they felt hungry and took some food from the ricar’s house, but Cyril wrote a note saying that he was sorry to take food but he was really hungry.
This story is filled with interests, humor.After reading, I asked myself:” If adults get the sand-fairy, what will happen? Like Psammead said, if thay got hold of the sand-fairy, they’ll want to wish for real, important things—like free houses for poor people and money to give to old people.And they’ll find a way to keep them after the
sun goes down, And what will happen to the world it all those changes come at once? There’ll be terrible trouble.So although children always ask for “stupid” things, but they are the children’s naive and real wishes.Then I thought about something:Sometimes, that children’s wishes should depend on their own efforts to achieve, but some are just a funny dream.This book can help you to imagine, to think, to relax.So read it!
