Love Makes Differences After watching Freedom Writers, I am deeply impreed by the great power of love.It is love that brings great changes to the students’ lives as well as to Erin’s.Only by loving each other do the students and Erin make sense of their lives.The students used to loathe the society and act violently after seeing violence and watching their relatives and friends died because of it.However, deep inside, they are desperate for love.They wanted to be loved by their parents, friends to gain a sense of belonging.This desire is overwhelmed by the hatred against the community, where discrimination exists, leaving them nothing but violence and loneline.The sharp contrast between the desire for love and the lovele reality makes them furious.Violence is the only way they have to fight back.Thus they suffer bitterly from this vicious cycle.While Erin offers another option, love.She moved them, making them realize that there are other people out there who understand their plights and are willing to help them.Erin helps them to love life again.This kind of love really makes sense.With love from clamates, Eva is able to be true to her heart and do what’s right.Also, due to love from clamates, the boy who read his diary in front of his friends feels the kind of warmth that can only be got from home, giving him hope and strength to live.It is love that makes students face their plights bravely, thus making them heroes.As for Erin, she becomes a teacher out of her love for teaching.This love gives her strength to leave the safety of her hometown to teach at Woodrow Wilson High School.Gradually, her love for teaching sublimate to the love for her students, which gives meaning to her life.She becomes a guider, a savior to her students.Scott, Erin’s husband, loves nobody but himself.He desires to be loved and respected by Erin while he’s unwilling to give his slightest respect for Erin’s career.His incapability of truly loving his wife brings disaster to their merriage. Love is of paramount importance to the characters’ lives in this movie.It makes me realize that no matter whom I am, where I live, or what difficulties I am facing with, with love, there will be hope and miracles.
