He went to a Chinese evening cla near his home and studied very hard for a month, and then his holidays began and he went to China.

When he came back a few weeks later, his friend said to him, \"Did you have any trouble with your Chinese when you were in Peking, Tom?\"

\"No, I didn\'t have any trouble with it,\" answered Tom.\"But the Chinese did!\"

\"Well, he left here for Waterbridge an hour ago.\" Waterbridge was a small town about 00 miles from the city.The city police at once sent four different photographs of the thief to the police in Waterbridge.

have caught the fourth this evening, we think.\"

Mrs Williams had a new neighbor.Her name was Mrs Briggs, and she talked a lot about the things she had.

\"Oh?\" Mrs Williams answered.\"And does it dry them and put them away too?\"

\"I\'ve had a dishwasher for twelve and a half years,\" Mrs Williams said.

\"Oh?\" Mrs Briggs answered.\"Does yours put the things away when it has washed them?\" She laughed.

\"Yes, he does,\" Mrs Williams answered.\"He dries the dishes and puts them away.\"

Long ago, there was a big cat in the house.He caught many mice while they were stealing food.

\"We could tie a bell around the neck of the cat.Then when he comes near, we can hear the sound of the bell, and run away.\"

Everyone agreed, but an old wise mouse got up and said, \"That is all very well, but who will tie the bell to the cat?\" The mice looked at each other, but nobody spoke.

Not long after an old Chinese woman came back to China from her visit to her daughter in the United States, she went to a city bank to get the US dollars her daughter gave her.At the bank counter, the clerk checked each note carefully to see if the money was real.This took some time.The old lady was in a hurry and did not want to wait long.At last she could not hold any more.She said to the clerk, \"Trust me, Sir, and trust the money.They are real US dollars.They are directly from America.\"

Tom had the problem of getting up late in the morning and was always late for work.His bo was angry with him and warned him to do something about it or he would have to leave the company.So Tom went to his doctor, the doctor gave him a pill and told him to take it before he went to bed.Tom slept well, and in fact, until the alarm went off in the morning.He had his breakfast and drove happily to work.

\"Bo\", he said, \"The pill actually worked!\"

\"That\'s all fine.\" said the bo, \"But where were you yesterday?\"

His friend replied, \"I don\'t have to run faster than it.All I have to do is to run faster than you.\"

Mrs Jones was still cleaning the house when her husband came back from work.She was wearing dirty, old clothes, her hair was not tidy, and she looked dirty and tired.Her husband looked at her and said, \"Is this what I come home to see after a hard day\'s work?\"

Mrs Jones\' neighbor, Mrs Smith, was there.When she heard Mr Jones\' words, she quickly said goodbye and ran back to her house.Then she washed, brushed and combed her hair carefully, put on her best dre, painted her face, and waited for her husband to come home.

Her husband came back, saw his wife and stopped.Then he shouted angrily, \"Where are you going this evening?\"

Mrs Brown\'s old grandfather lived with her and her family.Every morning he went for a walk in the park and came home right for his lunch.

But one morning two policemen came back home with her grandfather in a police car.One of the policemen said to Mrs Brown, \"The poor old gentleman got lost in the park, so we bring him home.\"

Mrs Brown was very surprised.After the policemen left, she said, “But grandfather, you have been to that park nearly every day for twenty years.How did you lose your way there?\" The old man smiled and said, \"I didn\'t quite lose my way.I just got tired and I didn\'t want to walk home! \"
