Walden
I don’t know how to make a comment on this book.It is always said that it is a good book that is full of philosophy.Maybe I’m too young to read this book.And I can only get a little from it in such a short time.
As we all know, the book is based on Thoreau’s, the author, famous economy experiment.In 1945, he built a small house nearby the Walden, starting his two years’ quiet life.
It is quite hard to remark on this whole book, and it is not sensible to do that, too, for Thoreau wrote the book in different aspects that convey different thoughts.The best I can do is to learn from simple sentence that burn a light to me.
ONE
What is called resignation is confirmed desperation.
This is the first sentence I picked up from the book.We always complain the way thing goes is not that we expected.Usually we don’t know how to figure it out and let it slide.The fact is that we don’t want have a try rather than we don’t know.We are scared.We always don’t want to chase one thing hysterically, because we don’t want to sustain the pain of losing it.Factually, it is not reasonable to say lose it for we never poeed it.
Another situation is that you have done your best, even beyond your ability.But we are not sure about the outcome.We say let the god make the decision.But remember the outcome depends on you when you look for a certain commodity.We say that just make us feel better or we just escape from the fact.So in my opinion, resignation is not absolute desperation.What we need to do is to face the problem and make it.And we can foresee the future.No matter what the outcome is we enjoy the journey.
From the beginning I want to prove the sentence.But it turned out I changed my mind.How come?

The luxuriously rich are not simply kept confortable warm, but unnaturally hot,

as I implied before, they are cooked a la mode.
I don’t know how to understand it.I just want to explain it with my own thought.From my perspective, the rich have many accees to temptations.They face too many opportunities and they don’t give up anyone.As a consequence, they just continually get and abandon.They don’t have a certain good and lose their way.They are too hot to calm down.They are busy rather than substantial.So the author also said：”with respect to luxuries and comforts, the wisest have ever lived a more simple and meager life than poor.” The wisest know what life they want.They have a clear mind so that they can find their way in the foggy world.
In other words, we work to make life better.But many people forget the purpose of work, even put the cart before the horse.We exist to live, not live to exist.
THREE
In the savage state every family owns a shelter as good as the best, and sufficient for its coarser and simply wants, but I think that I speak within bounds when I say that, though the birds of the air have their nests, and foxes their holes, and savage their wigwams, in modern civilized society not more than one half the families own a shelter.
As far as I’m concerned, this sentence reflects two society problems.First is for the people who is really poor and they have no ability to build a house.With the society developed, the rich become richer and the poor become poorer.But our governments only pay attention to the better things.They have no patience to deal with the poor.In a word, the society isn’t justice.
The second is for the people who want a better house.They don’t satisfy with their house.When they have one thing, they always want a better one.Though they live in the house, their hearts are out of there and get cold.Everyone has desire.But we forget to insist on protecting what we have owned.A simple house would be a nice home with families.A magnificent mansion only separates heartlely into single room.
Well, it also lead to another problem.The author said:” When the farmer has got
his house, he may not be richer but the poorer for it, and it be the house that got him.” Men have become the tools of their tools.We always want to make us better.So we design better shoes, cars and so on.It turns out the tools that we use to live become better, but we can’t afford them.At the beginning we control them, but they gradually control us.
FOUR
While civilization has been improving our house, it has not equally improved the men who are to inhabit them.
With the science developed, we have new tools to do things easily, meanwhile, we are losing our instincts.In the savage state, human can sustain the cold weather without modern clothes.But now if we live in a forest, we have no idea how to protect ourselves from any kind disasters.The animals merely made a bed, which he warms with his body in a sheltered place, but human, having discovered fire, boxes up some air in a spacious apartment, and warm that, instead of robbing himself.”
I don’t know whether it is good or bad.In terms of that, the nature is justice.She gave us a smart brain and we had to pay something for it.But for some people, thee more instincts he loses, the more foolish he gets.That’s not a worth deal.
FIVE
There is never an instants truce between virtue and vice.Goodne is only investment that never fails.
In the society, most people don’t believe goodne now because we are scared of being cheated.Most people want a good future in the future when we were children.But we have to face the fact when we grow up.We live a common life mostly because we lock goodne into our hearts.Goodne exists everywhere if we want to open our hearts.And when we help someone else, the happine is beyond describing.
The earth is not a mere fragment of dead history, but living poetry like the leaves of a tree, not a foil earth, but a living earth.We can make it better, because we can create goodne.
SIX
Many a irksome noise, go a long way off, is heard as music a proud, sweet satire on the meanne of our lives.
We always think things come from other places is fascinating and there is a better place to live far away from us.We have created an ideal life overseas.But we forget that other people live in other places.Similarly, they may think as we did.We always dream instead of working things out.
For some people, staying at hometown is the best choose.He can begin his own busine with the help of his parents and friends.But if he goes to another city, he can’t get any help.
This is also telling us that not everything from abroad is good.We must tell what is good and what is bad.We go nowhere if we accept all things.We are not vacuum cleaners.
As the author said:” in proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakne weakne.The whole book conveys the thought.When we simplify our life, we have more time to live a life which we have imagined.It’s high time we simplified our lives.
