My hometown
Good afternoon, sir/Ms/Madam, please call me Jolly.I am from a small town in Tangshan City, situated in the North part of Hebei Province in North China.It is about 200 kilometres from Beijing.It is the center of Bohai Sea gulf.Perhaps everyone in the world knows the big earthquake occurred in 1976, which stroke my hometown, Tangshan hardly.Fortunately now it is a beautiful, energetic and modern city.And it has a population of more than 3 million (300万).
My study and work
As for me, now I am thirty-two years old.I work in Jiaotong University in Shanghai.In 2008, I got my PhD degree in this school, and my major is Environmental Engineering.Then I went to Tongji University, not far from here, began my two years Postdoctoral research.It is the State Key Laboratory of Pollution Control and Resources Reuse.That was an unforgettable experience to me, because I encountered a very strict and enthusiastic advisor, and several dedicated colleagues, and they are all workaholics! It was just from that stage, I became a real researcher.Besides, I learned new experimental methods and to manipulate many instruments.I love the researching work and would like to devote myself in it, though the earning is not very much and the job is accompanied with hardships.Now in Jiaotong University, my fields mainly involve solid waste treatment and reclamation, and contaminated soil remediation.Now our group is trying to fix the carbon in waste biomaes such as straw, wood chips, leaves or manures to soil and simultaneously leen the release of greenhouse gases.To me, it is urgent to go abroad for a visiting and learn what other countries are doing.My family, parents and husband
Now I would like to introduce my family.I live in a quiet residential community, situated in the suburbs, where is convenient for me to commute from school and home.More important, the house price here is cheap.And you know……We can’t afford a house in urban area.In normal times, only my husband and me live there.Although we are all busy with our work, we are very happy, because he is an optimistic and humorous guy.Occasionally, our friends come here to relax and that are good days.In winter, after or before Spring Festival, my parents come here from hometown to help us to do some housework, during which we would have countle wonderful-smelling delicacy [\'delɪkəsi:] and the body weight cannot be controlled.
My interest and plan
In my spare time, I like to do some cooking.I think it is a good leisure life.But unfortunately, my meal seems not being well received by our friends, so I can only cook for myself.I also like to grow flowers, like swimming, well…like writing blog.In most cases, I am satisfied with my present living.Simplene
is all.My long-term plan is becoming an eligible researcher and teacher.My short-term plan is to go to the USA for further education.
