international attention in recent weeks.We know that you\'ve been on the phone with the foreign ministers of some countries discuing this iue.Can you talk about China\'s view on the current situation in Ukraine and how do you think the Ukrainian crisis should be resolved?
[王毅] 我知道今天一定有人要提乌克兰的问题。我首先要告诉大家的是，中国在乌克兰问题上秉持公正和客观的态度，我们已经多次阐明了我们的立场。
Wang Yi: First, let me tell you that China follows a just and objective position on the iue of Ukraine, and we have stated our position on multiple occasions.
乌克兰的局势发展到今天事出有因，令人遗憾。同时也折射出这个问题背后的复杂历史经纬和利害冲突。越是复杂的问题，越需要慎重对待。
It is regretful that the situation in Ukraine has come to what it is today.Yet it is not by accident that the situation has reached this point.There is a complex history behind it as well as conflicting interests.The complex the problem is, the more neceary that it is handled in a prudent way.
中方呼吁，从维护乌克兰各族人民的根本利益考虑，从维护地区和平稳定的大局出发，当务之急是保持冷静克制，避免局势进一步紧张升级，要通过对话协商把乌克兰问题纳入到政治解决的轨道当中。中方正在继续与有关各方进行沟通，我们愿意为乌克兰问题的政治解决发挥建设性的作用。谢谢。

Responsibility of great powers
In recent weeks, the iue of Ukraine has been the focus of international attention.The chaos political situation inside and several international forces outside made the iue much more complex.Nowadays, Chinese comprehensive national power had enhanced very fast for our economic development.So we should use our national influence to maintain regional peace and stability.It is our responsibility to contribute our strength to peace and stability of the world.As Foreign Minister Wang Yi said, there is a complex history behind it as well as conflicting interests.So when we face some national iues, a just and objective position is the key to solve problems.
As one of the most important emerging powers, China has responsibility to help to solve the event.As Minister Wang said, “China will play a constructive role in bringing about a political settlement of the Ukrainian iue.” That is how we should do now.The best solution of the Ukrainian iue is a political settlement rather than fight and blood.The people of Ukraine have their rights to choose their own political direction.The great powers must respect their selection and help them find a way to go out of the mud.
