If I ask you what is the function of a chair? Everyone will answer it without hesitation.What about a campstool? It may take you a period to have a thought about it.Perhaps this is just a question.However, it is a most important thing for me.Calling back to my exciting memory, I took part in Beijing Challenge Cup.I won inspirational award for a little campstool.From that time, I found I became potty about the science of mechanical engineering and automation.As well as at that time, I decided to scale higher intellectual heights by undertaking advanced studies of M.E.Therefore, I would like to write this statement to impre upon you my carefully considered profeional, as well as personal experience for applying to your school and, thereby, to convince you of my likely superior future value to the field should your admiion to your excellent school.
My strong interest in research was born during the undergraduate years at Beijing Technology and Busine University.Upon entering the university in 1999, in my usual spirit of dedication and perseverance, I began to embark on my journey of industrious study in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Automation.My exceptionally solid foundation in mathematics provided me with a stepping stone with which I proceeded onto the exploration of other sophisticated and erudite subjects.My performance in all the specialty-related coursework not only enabled me to secure good GPA ranking in my cla but also furnished me with a powerful instrument whereby to materialize my dreams in the research, especially when I took part in the Beijing Challenge Cup in July 2002.As you know, it’s very difficult for a student who is still at school and has few experiences to run a corporation.Therefore, I invited three students to join my group from the department of law, accounting and marketing respectively.Before the competition, we looked up many materials and periodicals to make a decision what product we can design and meanwhile it can earn money.And then, we come together to select some ideas we all thought poible.Most of the members thought we should make some complicated machines so that we could earn much money.However, I thought our knowledge was still limited and we could make some simple tools or things.Such a plan not only could save the cost but also make profit on it.Occasionally, I found the chairs of auditorium and me halls in my university were fixed and troublesome to move.Two of my clamates and I decided to make a folding chair.We thought if the chair was folded to a cuboid and we could put them together like a floorboard.That will make an auditorium become an indoor badminton court easily.Intimating structure of present folding chair, we design ours.We designed a linkage, and folded them in order to see whether this structure can fold to a cuboid.After selecting a design, we made the static analysis to confirm the dimension and material of chair.We consulted a profeor of department of Material in Tsinghua University.He suggested us to use one kind of plastic, which was easy to shape and strong enough for our chair as environmental material.After the product was designed, I began to give questionnaire to manager of the auditorium.His opinion that this kind of folding chair could make more square for the limited space of the auditorium inspired us with the hope of succe.At the same time, other students were improving finance analysis and forecast and company law system.With these efforts, we succeeded in the final round of the competition.The special experience makes it very helpful for my further study.Firstly, I find the connection between theory and practice.Textbooks could hardly cover everything.If we want to learn more, we should pursue every opportunity to have practices.Meanwhile, I experienced the importance and mightine of cooperation.We divided ourselves into several parts, not only
doing one’s own work well, but also cooperating with each other harmoniously.All above are very important for research work.During my undergraduate study in my university, I used to make many design projects.The main research project I engaged in was to design a two level gears transmiion reducer.The main research task is to establish a program which can calculate design and proof of gear transmiion.Firstly, I listed all requirements as output data and the condition of the output as input data.After above basic work, I compiled subprograms to work out medium value such as torque, ratio of transmiion and so on.Then I compile main program and debugged it.Finally, I compile another program to use the output data to draw the transmiion part of the reducer in a computer.
Immediately after finishing my graduate program, I joined Beijing Embraco Snowflake Compreor Co.Ltd, where I have accumulated nearly 1-year and a half rich experience in the improvement of product quality and new product development.As the product engineer, I had participated in a compreor project.According to the kinetic analysis of the compreor, I got to know that there are three kinds of force act on this crank-slider mechanism—inertial force、load and force of friction.Then I tried to make a analysis report which covered following information, “Inertial force are divided as inertial force of reciprocating motion of piston, centrifugal inertia force produced by gyrating ma of imbalance of crank, inertial force produced by connecting rod motion; Frictional power includes reciprocating frictional power, gyrating frictional power.I proce some projects after analysis to improve COP (Coefficient of Performance) and transmiion efficiency, reduce noise and cost.” Due to my report, other engineers could easily find the suitable ways to deal with the troubles in the proce of the production.Still, I am eager to learn more in order to improve both on my knowledge, research experience and future career.
