In the movie, the religion was no more beautiful and pure.The religion became a hinder for the king to show his power.Therefore, the king against the church.I think no matter the king was good or bad, the decrease of religion’s influence was a improvement of human civilization.Human got power back from the god, religion converted to simple believe and no longer be a political tool.
