In love with music李健:淡定做出好音乐。

FOR Li Jian, music is far more than mere entertainment. His aim for his lyrics and vocal delivery (声音传递) is the creation of an aural landscape (听觉风景): a quiet place for the listener’s mind to relax and meditate (冥想).

“His songs are like a refreshing breeze,” TV anchor Chen Luyu said on her talk show.“He never tries to be fashionable. His songs touch the heart and leave it feeling warm.”

Li is not a newcomer to music; but he had been out in the cold for many years. It was not until this year’s CCTV Spring Festival Gala that he regained (重新获得) public attention.Legend, the song that gave singer Faye Wong her comeback, was composed and first performed by Li.The song is currently at the top of Baidu’s Chinese chart.

In an interview with China Youth Daily, Li said he was happy that his music was winning a larger audience. But he claims that even during the years when he was out of the public eye, he was never depreed.

“All people seem to care about is commercial succe,” he said.“But there’s a difference between a busineman and a musician. The busineman is only interested in profit; but the best course for the musician is to stick with what he is good at.”

Li said that anyone who wants to be an artist should not expect to *make a fortune: “Life can be ok for the singer who is prepared to live modestly. You want to be rich? Better take up another career.”

Li does not believe in compromise (妥协) – he thinks it cannot lead to quality music. It was for this reason he left Shuimu Nianhua, the pop duo (二人组合) he formed with a fellow Tsinghua graduate in 2002.His uncompromising attitude toward music is apparent (明显的) in the title of his new album, My Belief in Music (《音乐傲骨》).“It’s fundamental (基本的) for a singer to stay true to himself,” he said.“It’s creativity that’s the important thing, not popularity, not entertainment.”

Let us have more sleep! 你每天睡够觉了吗?

SLEEP is food for the brain. However, many teenage brains are denied (拒绝给予) enough food.A good handful of students complain that they are sleeping six hours or le a night, as high school work multiplies (倍增).

Plenty admit they have difficulty waking up in the morning.

“I pre the button on my alarm clock so many times before I can make myself get out of bed,” said Zhang Xi, 16, from Taiyuan Foreign Language School.

She gets up at 6:00 am to meet her first cla at 7:00 am every weekday.

But why doesn’t she go to bed earlier? No, that’s not the right solution for her, Zhang said.

“It’s hard for me to get to bed before midnight, since I have homework, reviews and previews for a total of 10 subjects. And I don’t want to be left behind,” she explained.

Zhang mies the old days in junior high when she could sleep nine hours on school nights.Nowadays, she sleeps only six hours as the rigor (强度) of her schooling increases.

Zhang said she was not alone. Many of her clamates doze off (打瞌睡) in cla and feel tired throughout the whole week.

“A few of us drink caffeine (咖啡) to keep awake, although we know it’s harmful to our health,” she said. For some, having snacks secretly during cla is another “dangerous but helpful” way to keep alert (警觉的).“You’re in danger of being punished since snacks are not allowed in cla,” she said.

Sometimes, Zhang also takes a nap at noon.

Noon naps are of some help for better performance in the next hours. However, sleep-deprived (被剥夺的) teenagers need more deep sleep to pick themselves up, so they are able to stop streing about things.

“I catch up on sleep on Saturday afternoons – sometimes I sleep up to four hours,” said Dong Shang, 15, from Zunyi No 4 High School in Guizhou province.

Rest is the key

Losing sleep can be damaging.Your mood, memory, and attention span (长度) are all affected when you don’t get enough of it.

This year’s World Sleep Day falls on March 21.The day’s slogan (口号) is “Sleep Well, Stay Healthy”.So, try to make enough time for sleep at night, so that you can work more efficiently during the daytime.核心词汇throughoutprep.遍及The disease spread rapidly throughout Europe.
