The objective of the proposal is to provide St Mary’s with a much needed replacement foundation stage claroom and additional amenities. The new scheme is intended to provide the foundation stage cla with an exciting and engaging learning environment to enhance the children’s school experience at such a vital early stage in their school life. to explore .Tectoniques built the two schools on a sloping site opposite a wooded parkland in the northern city suburb of Rillieux-la-Pape.The two- and three-storey buildings were designed with V-shaped plans. The nursery school frames a garden, while the elementary school wraps around a narrow courtyard. In certain places the plant-covered rooftops appear to emerge from the ground, created a series of slopes and pathways that children are encouraged to investigate. The two schools operate independently, but share some facilities.A communal entrance provides a place for parents to congregate before and after school, and is linked to the village by a pedestrian pathway.Timber cladding covers most of the building\'s interior and exterior, but is interspersed with a few yellow-painted panels on the walls and ceilings.Spacious corridors run between clarooms and feature floor-to-ceiling windows to increase natural light.A vegetable garden grows on the perimeter of the school, plus a new gymnasium will be added to the site next year.

Consell Kindergarten The design unit: RIPOLLTIZON Location: Spanish balearic Completion: in 2010 Construction area: 996.05 square meters cost: 1369167 euros

Consell Kindergarten is the extension of the School Complex “Bartomeu Ordines” in Consell, Mallorca (Spain). The new building is composed of: six clarooms (for children between 3 and 5 years old), one psychomotor claroom and a dining area including kitchen. The design strategy intends to accommodate the whole building area in the ground floor and thus create a fluid relation between the interior and the play grounds. In addition to this, the need of creating the acce to the building from the main avenue, and the need to establish a pedestrian connection with the existing building, led us considering a building to be croed, to be traversed. The building will be a path.We like to think on this’path’ as the starting point of the project.A colorful route in zig-zag that drives the children through the building while it organizes the different ‘claroom clusters’ and functional areas.During the design we developed a typology of ‘claroom cluster’ that is composed by: 2 clarooms connected together that are opened with a glazed facade and a porch towards a private courtyard that serves as the outdoor extension of the claroom. The clusters are oriented east, what ensures good natural light quality for each of them, and avoids the visual relationship with the north facade of the existing school building.A roof follows and protects the’path’ in its zig-zag route, rising to greet us at the main acce from the Avenue, driving us to the clarooms, and offering us a sheltered area next to the playgrounds„ a vibrant and folded shadow roofing that covers and embraces us borrowing the colors of the orange groves nearby.
