二、读写任务

Recently the reporters of CCTV 11 made a random survey in some big cities in China among the pedestrians on the correct spelling of some most commonly used Chinese characters, the result of which was completely beyond their expectation.
The expreion they used was \"embarra\", which is pronounced in Chinese \"gan ga\" First they asked eight students from grades 4 to 6 in a famous primary school in Beijing, and half of them could write them correctly.Later they came to a secondary school and asked eight students to do the same thing, but this time only three of whom wrote the two words correctly.What\'s more surprising was that they asked five persons who had got master or doctor degrees to write the same words, but only two of them could write them correctly.The result was not only terrific but ironic as well.Is it too difficult? Absolutely not!
All the surveyors held that they almost did all the writing on computers in their daily life instead of writing them by hand.Actually, as time goes by, the ability of writing Chinese characters and handwriting in our daily life is decreasing sharply, which has aroused great attention of experts and authorities of education department on the use and development of our mother tongue.

The young man listened politely, then bent down, picked up another starfish and threw it into the sea, past the breaking waves and said, \"It made a difference for that one.\"

I\'m Tom, a middle school student.To some extent, I think, middle school students are some kind of privilege cla (特权阶级), because though we aren\'t armed with power and wealth, we are protected so well.For example, we buy half price bus or train tickets when travelling around.We go to amusement parks and cinemas with discounted tickets or sometimes no tickets at all.Special laws are made to protect us teenagers.We are actually taken good care of both in and out of school.

As is shown in a random survey by CCTV 11, the ability of writing Chinese characters among young generations is decreasing, sharply in recent years, which is mainly due to too much dependence on computers.
I can\'t agree more with the cause mentioned in the paage..As computers have become part of our daily life, we get almost everything written down on them instead of with our own hands.
It is easily seen that failing to write Chinese characters may bring about some negative effects on our life.For one thing, it often makes no sense, which might lead to some misunderstanding between people.For another, miswritten Chinese characters in a test or in your resume may reduce your chances of paing the exam or finding a job.
Therefore, to help people write Chinese characters correctly, a few effective measures should be taken.For example, we appeal to people to send fewer emails but write more letters by hand.Besides,some activities like a character-writing competition should be organized to arouse students\' interest in correctly writing.Chinese characters with their hands.

The Starfish
A young man was throwing starfish back into the sea.A wise man asked how he could save all on the beach, and he said at least he could make a difference to some.

It can\'t be denied that every kind act counts.As you know, life is not all roses.Nobody can be immune from misfortune, becoming a starfish.If a person is in trouble, others\' help means a great deal to him.If everyone focuses on helping one starfish at a time, it will produce the far-reaching effect on our society.
Help is not measured by how great or how little you have done, so as a student, all I can do is strive to be better every day to make a small difference.We can smile more at people.We can say a few encouraging words to each other.We can give better service, to others in our work.We can offer a coin to an aged beggar.In a word, we can lead by example.
All in all, if we each keep an eye on our starfish and throw our starfish wisely and well, the world will certainly be bleed.

Celebrate my Graduation from High School
Li Yue shares with us her first experience of donating blood, as a way of celebrating her graduation from high school, which made her proud and happy by helping others.
I really appreciate / admire / think highly of/sing high praise for Li Yue\'s way of celebrating her graduation from high school, which is really meaningful and unforgettable.Not only was she able to help those in need but also she proved that she did grow into a mature and responsible person.
High school life is a bitter-sweet time to make academic achievements as well as to develop
6 all-rounded abilities.Frankly, I have benefited a lot from it.First, I have achieved lots of knowledge and skills in various subjects, which lays a good foundation for my future study.In particular, I have greatly improved my speaking and writing skills.Besides, I have learned how to get along well with my clamates and teachers, further developing my social skills.
Looking back, there are many to whom I should expre thanks and gratitude.I know that it is my parents\' unconditional love that enables me to grow up healthily and happily.I also owe it to my teachers that I have made great progre in various aspects for their profeional knowledge and devotion to their work.Also I cannot forget to thank my clamates for helping me and caring for me during all these years.

In his speech, Tom says middle school students are well protected with special rights by society, but some of them behave badly in public places, which makes him feel ashamed and puzzled.
The cases of middle school students\' improper behaviour on public occasions can be frequently seen around us.It\'s common that some of my obedient and polite clamates at school turn into uncivilized strangers the moment they walk out of the school gate.It seems that they prefer doing what they are not allowed at school.
As far as I am concerned, some reasons can be listed to explain this phenomenon, For one thing, since they feel bored and restricted at school, they tend to behave completely differently as soon as they step out of school.For another, greatly influenced by movies or TV series, some students feel it cool to imitate some uncivilized behaviour.
As middle school students, they should make great efforts to leave a good impreion on people by building up a healthy image in public places.They are supposed to behave like civilized, polite, loving, and trustable persons no matter whether they are in school or out of school.
In short, it is neceary that middle school students should behave properly in public places.The society is tolerant to us, but we should deserve the kindne.

Exceive love means harm
In the fable above, the old couple has shown us their valuable moral characters of being kind, friendly, considerate and unselfish to the swans, which made them unwilling to leave.
There is no denying that the couple loved the swans so much that they spared no efforts to help the swans.Helpful as it was at that moment, it would gradually weaken the swans\' living abilify and cultivated the habit of lazine.Eventually, they took all the help for granted and completely depended on others.In the long run, this kind of love isn\'t the real one.
Had I been the couple, I wouldn\'t have done the favor to them unconditionally.Instead, I would have forced them to live independently, which might be cruel but would prove to be effective.
The harmful love is to arrange everything perfectly for him while the real love is to give him wings which results in lifelong benefits.
