高一英语Unit 17 Reading教学案例

教材分析

本节课为阅读课,内容主要是有关圣-彼得堡的历史,包括它的建造、被摧毁及重建的过程。表现了圣-彼得堡的人民坚强、勇敢、不折不挠的优秀品质,说明了圣-彼得堡的人民是英雄的人民,圣-彼得堡城是英雄的城市。通过对课文的学习,可以让学生了解一些俄罗斯特别是圣-彼得堡城的历史,可以培养学生热爱家乡的意识和社会责任感,让学生意识到保护文物的重要性。通过对课文的学习,培养他们用英语获取信息和解决问题的能力,更好地理解文章内容,培养学生的合作意识。阅读教学理论认为,阅读是一个主动的、有目的的、有创造性的心理过程。《普通高中英语课程标准》指出, 英语教学要关注学生情感, 使学生在学习过程中,提高独立思考和判断的能力,并树立正确的人生观、世界观和价值观, 增强社会责任感, 全面提高人文素养。

一、教学目标设计

1.To develop the Ss’ reading ability through reading the paage , such as skimming, scanning abilities, and enlarge their views of culture.2.Learn the following sentence patterns: It is true that———, do everything we can to save our city 3.Enable the Ss to be aware of the importance of protecting cultural relics.

二、教学过程设计

(一) 精心设计导入,激发阅读兴趣

利用Powerpoint演示the Eiffel Tower、the Big Ben Clock Tower、the Great Wall等图片) Throughout the world, there’re many well- known cities.Some of the cities are well received by the people, and some others have in or around them a number of famous cultural relics.Now let’s have a free discuion about the following questions: (1)Some cities, like Paris and Beijing, are called great cities of the world.In your opinion, what makes a city great? (2)What are your favorite cities? 这样的活动能充分发挥学生的主观能动性;另一方面能调动学生学习英语的积极性。

(二) 合理安排教学步骤,使学生积极参与 Step1 Pre-reading Show a picture of St Petersburg.Introduce the city St Petersburg generally.St.Petersburg is the second largest city in Ruia after the capital, Moscow.The city was built by Peter the Great, who wanted a port for trade to the Baltic.The city was seen to be a “window looking out on Europe”.It was also the capital city back in 1712.Italian and French architects planned its streets and buildings, giving it that special claical beauty for which it is famous today.St.Petersburg became the center of literature, music and theatre in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.It was renamed twice during revolutions.It became Petrograd in 1914 and Leningrad in 1924.Then in 1991, local people voted to give it back its first name.During World WarⅡ, St.Petersburg was cut off from the rest of the country.It was under attack for more than two years.It was awarded the title of“Hero city” for the heroism shown by its people.从视听入手进行阅读教学,能使学生获得更多听和说的机会,有利于培养学生的听说能力。

Step2 Skimming Ask the Ss to skim the text to find topic sentences of each paragraph.Suggested answers: Paragraph 1 : The Ruian Czar Peter the Great built a new capital-St Petersburg.Paragraph 2: St Petersburg has also been the center of many important events in history.Paragraph 3: The people of St Petersburg began rebuilding the city.Paragraph 4: The people of St Petersburg are the Modern heroes of Ruia.让学生阅读课文,归纳每段的主题,培养学生归纳文章主题的能力。

Step3 Reading

Get the Ss to read the text carefully to find details of the paage.Para1: Build (the city) 1: when———300 years ago 2: where———near the Neba River 3: who———Peter the Great and the people of St Petersburg 4: what...like———large, beautiful, strong and proud.Show the pictures of Peter the Great and the beauty of St Petersburg.Para2: Destroy (the city) 1: when———1941 2: who———the Germans or the Nazis 3: how long———for nearly 900days 4: how———the city———burnt the buildings———destroyed the paintings and the statues———lay in pieces the buildings and the paintings and the statues———in ruins Para3: Rebuild (the city) 1: who———the people 2: what———bring the city back to life 3: what to use———old paintings photograghs 4: what...like———as wonderful as in the past

Para4: Heroes (of the city) 1: Peter the Great———strong and proud 2: the people of St Petersburg———strong, proud and united Step4.Ask the Ss to listen to the tape while looking at the sentences on the screen, making a decision about whether the following statements are true or false.1.The city of St Petersburgh was built and rebuilt by Peter the Great.2.Many great palaces in the city, which were large and beautiful, were built after Peter’s death.

3.The Germans attacked St Petersburgh a hundred years ago.4.When the palaces and buildings were rebuilt, people changed their old beauty.5.A portrait of Peter the Greatwas destroyed by the Germans.6.It was difficult for people to rebuild the old palaces.7.Workers and painters used old photographs to help them rebuild the city.8.St Petersburgh will never be as beautiful as it was before.Step 5 Post-reading

Ask the Ss to discu the following questions in groups: (1)Why do people think St Petersburgh is a great city? (2) Why was it so difficult for people to rebuild the old palaces? (3)What did people use to help them rebuild the city? (4)Why are the people of St Petersburgh heroes? 以上活动旨在让学生了解和掌握课文内容,培养学生根据文章材料进行细节理解的能力。同时进行德育渗透,如提高学生保护文物的意识。

Step6 Homework

Summarize the paage and ask the Ss to retell the story.(三)挖掘文章的内涵,进行创造性的活动 针对这篇阅读文章提出了这样的话题: 1.Do you know any of the cultural relics in our city? 2.And any famous people? What kind of spirit did those people have? 3.What can we do to protect those relics and the spirit?

(四) Home work Have find more about St Petersburgh on the Internet.

反思:阅读课教学虽然没有固定的教学模式,但是在教学中必须树立以学生为主的思想,把握阅读的整体教学,精心设计阅读教学过程,学生综合运用英语的能力才能得以提高。
