Fuxian Lake
Ladies and gentlemen: I am very pleased to serve as your tour guide; today we will visit the famous and beautiful scenic area ---Fuxian Lake.before we reach there, i \'d like to give you a brief introduction to it.Fuxian Lake is lacated in the boundary area of the Chengjiang county Jiangchuan county, and huangning county.which is a about 70kms from kunming.
Fuxian lake has a shape of inverted gourd, it covers an area of 212 square kms , which is the 3rd largest lake in yunnan.you know, the largest lake in yunnan is the dianchi lake and the 2nd largest one is Erhai lake. with the deepest point of the 157.8 meters and the average depth of 87 meters ,so Fuxian Lake ranks the 1st in yunnan and the 2nd in china in terms of depth, it is second only to the deepest lake in china---the volcanic crater lake of Changbai mountain in northeast china.
its total water capacity is18.9 billion cubic meters which is 12 times of dianchi lake and 6 times of rehai lake on this point Fuxian lake ranks the top in yunna.The lake is a half-closed plateau lake, so the water supplement of the lake comes from the surrounding Streams/ Rivers underground springs and rainfall.The lake is so clear that the deepest visibility can reach 12.5 meters.Thus the water quality of Fuxian Lake ranks the 1st in yunnan and it is also one of the clearest inland fresh lakes in china.So now you know FXL has 3 NO.1 titles in yunnan, its depth, water capacity and water quality.It deserves its fame.So how about its name-actually, the name of the lake -Fuxian---means to attract immortals.it is said that rocks resembling 2 immortals stand in the southeastern beach of the lake.it seems to indicate that the lake is so charming that everyone including immortals would be completely enchanted with it.
the main scenic spots around Fuxian Lake include luchong village and Yusun Hill in the west, the hot water pond in the east, xiangbiling Hill and jinsha Bathing beach in the north.haimei river and gushan island in the south.The lake is so large that we will visit the lake along the major routes, first we will visit the Haimen river scenic spot, then we will visit the gushan island, and finally I will take you to the luchong village and have a special meal.
Ok, that is enough.Now we are in the scenic area of Fuxian Lake.
The Haimen River is our first stop.Situated in the south of Fuxian Lake, Haimen Rivers links Fuxian Lake and Xingyun Lake.Although Haimen Rivers is only one kilometer long it is an absolutly valuable place to visit.Now as you can see, there are 3 chinese charactets on the rivers bank\"jieyu shi\" Meaning \"fishing separeting stone”, maybe you will havea a question--why are they written here? in fact ,such a specical name comes from a unique phenomenon----the fish in xingyun lake and Fuxian Lake never swim acro the stone with the 3 characters, it seems that they understand the stone as the boundary of the 2 lakes, it is said that Emperor Qianglong in the Qing Dynasty wrote the 3 characters on the stone to mark the wonder.
After visiting the Haimen River let\'s go to our next stop by boating, because next we will visit another important scenic spot in Fuxian Lake-Gushan Island.
Now we are standing on the gushan island which was originally called \"yinhai mountain\" and it was linked to a nearby island by an iron bridge.later the bridge was destroyed by an earthquake.the mountain was renamed Gushan, meaning \"isolated mountain\" as you can see a new archway was built at the dock as entrance of the resort.and there are 8 temples 5 halls and 3 pavilions erecting on this island.because in the Ming Dynasty, this island was famous for its buddhist temples and Daoist constructions .in front of us is another important building on the island, it is a brilliant copper pagoda, standing on a huge base, the pagoda is a 13--story construction decorated by colorful paint and inscriptions of Buddhist sutras.
Now you may realize there are many new pavilions, paths, and bridges were constructed so as to connect all the scenic spots on the island.up to now Gushan ialand has been developed into a comprehensive resort with good facilities for tour, entertainment and accommodation.ok, let\'s take boat back to land.Maybe the land will make you feel better.Now we are in luchong village, lying in the weatern shore of Fuxian Lake, luchong village is reputed for its tranquil beach, banian trees and hospitable villagers.Here we can enjoy the beautiful Fuxian lake and penholder-shaped Bijia hill, we can also play some interesting aquatic games here.later you can experience by yoursives.but we come here not only for its beautiful views but for a special fish.the fish in the lake is namesd kanglang fish, it is a kind of fish that does not acro the \"jieyushi\" to the xingyu lake, before we are going to have a meal of the special fish, i\' d like to give you featurea about Kanglang fish.Kanglang fish is one of the eence of Fuxian lake, which cannot be found in any other lake or sea around the world, it is aunique species.A kanglang fish is le than 20cm long“kanglang” means “ to fight against waves”, because kanglang fish like to against waves.There is a great deal of wind and rolling waves on fuxian lake, and the lake used to be teeming with kanglang fish..The fish swim from deep water to shallow waters near the bank to spawn every year from the beginning of spring to the beginning of autumn.So the fish season lasts from march to September every year.People make full use of the fish’s habits and characteristics in fishing.Wooden water wheels are used to pump water out of fish caves, and kanglang fish will swim against current, then into the fish cages placed in the water beforehand.Kanglang fish have fine flesh and are considered delicious.Living in the high quality water of fuxian lake, the fish are very clean.We therefore don’t need to cut open their bellies cooking.The fish can be air—dried, salted, deep—fried, steamed, or boiled in copper pots.However this fish species is nearing extinction due to overfishing in recent years.So the price of the fish is very high, and the way of the sale is also strange.Due to the fish live in pairs, they do everything in pairs including swimming eating and spawning like a couple of lover, so the local people sell the fish in pairs for respecting their love
besides kanglang fish , another important local product is lotus root starch, the local lotus are famous for being big ,stout and sweet.being made of fresh lotus roots, the lotus root starch is sweet glutinous smooth and fragant L&G, that’s all of our tour today.I hope fuxian lake has left you a wonderful impreion.Thank you for your cooperation.See you again.
