This is the third time for me to write the reflective diaries.Two days ago, I had the academic writing cla.In that cla, Mr.Tang taught us the format of the Citation.When we wrote thesis before, we take little attention of format of the citation.However, after I learned this cla, I realized the importance of citation.On the other hand, it is a good chance for me to review when I write this reflective journal.Citation is considered very important in writing any article, research paper or the case study.It gives the reader ideas about the authenticity of the material and also tells about the related research links.The stronger the citation style will be, stronger will be the impact of arguments.Therefore, it is very neceary for us to make sure the format of the citation is true.One important thing during writing the article should be in mind that the citation should be for the convenience of the readers and not to divert them.After considering the importance of citation style; there are various styles that have been designed.However, the three most common styles are APA style, Harvard style, MLA style.But in our writings of thesis, we usually use APA style.In APA style, there are two ways in which we can refer to another person\'s work: The first is by direct quotation, and the second is by reporting.In the next two paragraphs, I will introduce the two ways respectively.Sometimes, we may want to quote another author\'s words exactly.There are four formats I will refer to.①Widdowson (1979, p.5) states that “there is a good deal of argument in favor of extending the concept of competence to cover the ability to use language to communicative effect.” ②According to Widdowson (1979),\"there is a good deal of argument in favor of extending the concept of competence to cover the ability to use language to communicative effect\" (p.5).③According to Widdowson, \"there is a good deal of argument in favor of extending the concept of competence to
