Cla (Wednesday 3/4)

1.Why did Chris want to go to Alaska?

The reason Chris went to Alaska was that he was tired of his family and the so called sick society. It’s a kind of escaping. What Chris wanted was absolute freedom. His parents didn’t have a good relationship.Chris’s memory about his family was filled with quarreling and violence. The memory was just like a nightmare that he couldn’t get rid of.He thought his parents were living their life with masks.Further more the whole society was sick in his eyes.It was full of obligations laws and hypocrite. He was a perfect student who was being admitted by Harvard law. However, he himself just treated his school work as dull and boring duty. It’s just a kind of obligation. He just completed his school work under the preure of his family, religions and society. He wanted to get away from all of these. He wanted to be Alaska living with nothing, just being there in that moment, in that special place and time.Chris wanted to be Alaska to get rid of his family and the society so as to acquire absolute freedom.

2.Is Christopher McCandle an inspirational hero or a naïve fool? Why?

Christopher Mccandle is an inspirational hero.He is an inspirational hero both physically and mentally.First, he had striking physical strength. He had been in South Dakota and tried rapids in Colorado River all the way down through the Grand Canyon. He even went to Mexico before reaching his spiritual destination Alaska.Second, he could distinguish love from hatred, good from bad.He knew what he wanted clearly. He could spare no efforts to seek his dream.Third, in my opinion a man who can put his great dream into practice is a hero.No doubt Chris made it! To some degree, it was a sick world. Many people may saw the evil side of the world. However rare persons could speak out, let alone showed off their blood and fire.Chris made it! Chris was a strong giant who was bold enough to have a dream against the society. He was also a person who had faith and strength to realize his tough dream.Chris is a super hero!

3.After Chris graduated from college, he decided to travel to Alaska. If you could travel anywhere in the world after graduation, where would you go? Why?

When I graduate I would like to go to Holland, because I love the atmosphere of north Europe. It’s quiet, clean and romantic.Definitely, so many places of interests are charming to me.The USA is prosperous and full of magic. However, in my impreion, American is crowded and noisy as well as the main part of Europe.I want to travel to someplace which can clear my spirit and bring me the beauty of nature.I would like to live in a farm in Holland. There will be a windmill on the farm.I would get up early to breathe the clear air.I will lose myself in the scenery of sun rise and the countle roses on the farm. All of these scenery will bring me absolute relax throughout my whole body.I would like to travel to Holland to clear my spirit and feel the quiet beauty of nature.

4.In his notebook Chris writes, “Happine [is] only real when shared.” Do you agree? Why or why not?

I believe in“Happine only real when shared”.No one can live out of the society, even if you may dislike it or hate it.Everyone is a member of society. There you own your parents, your partner and your friends. With all the people who love you and whom you love, you can

share your bitterne and happine. When you are happy someone may laugh out loud with you. That’s good and that’s enough. In my opinion, what we do in life is partly for ourselves. We are seeking a better and more comfortable life for ourselves. The left part is for the guys we really care.We won’t want to let them down.We want to bring them happine.Maybe we could just get great happine from their happine, even just a happy word or a smile. So only by being with the ones you care, only by sharing, can you acquire real happine.

5.Write an alternate ending for Into the Wild.Be creative!

I’m dying! Chris thought. He was extremely hungry. He was faint. He closed his eyes and waited the bus to the Heaven.Suddenly, something flew down to his face.He opened his mouth with all his strength unconsciously. Some liquid flew into his mouth.Oh! It’s milk! Then he touched something like breast, he greedily sucked the milk flew out of it……

After a period of time, he struggled to open his eyes.Everything is indistinct. To his great surprise, a deer! It’s a deer! A deer saved his life! He saw tears in the deer’s eyes. She looked despairing. Then the deer got out of the bus.Chris also climbed out of the bus following her.The deer just walked around following some small footprints, and called with sorrow every now and then.

Chris seemed knew what happened. Her children got lost and she followed the small footprints here. But she still couldn’t find her children. Then Chris saw the deer moved to the cliff. She called out to the Heaven and suddenly disappeared! He could do nothing with a strengthle body.Tears flew out of his eyes.I know what I should do.He said.

Two days later, Chris recovered completely. He packed his baggage and went to the cliff where the deer falling down.He bowed over deep for a long time. Then Chris raised his head and shouted out to the sky “Thank you Alaska! Good bye!” Then Chris headed for south without looking back.

Never Stop Running

There is a provoking scene: “a piece of white and light feather is flying under the blue sky, and dropping down gradually to Forrest Gump’s feet who sit on the bench for bus.” Just like the feather is swaying with the wind, so is the human being’s life. Most of time, we are wondering everywhere without specific direction, goal and hope. What is more, we always look on life as tedious and even annoying. However, fate is mastered by our own, just like Forrest Gump devoted all his life to running for his own sky.

“Each man is the architect of his own fate”, such is the remark made by one of the great figure. This remark has been confirmed by more and more people.Forrest t Gump is an outstanding example. As the film told us Forrest Gump, born with disable body, he is a good soccer athlete, an hero in Vietnam war , a captain own shrimp ship, a runner croing the whole America.Asking yourself, who we are? What is the accomplishment that we can show off.Every one creates his or her own reality. We have absolute rights to describe our life. When you learned what you make of life is up to you and begin to live your life, you are able to design it according to your desires. To remember that succe lies within you, in my own brain, my own ambition, and my own determination.

One of the great figure remarked that unrest of spirit is a mark of life. This is the reflection of Forrest Gump’s life; he born with leg has disability. However, with astonishing speed, Forrest Gump entered the soccer team, then went to university and eventually graduates.Soon, he took part in the Vietnam War.In the Vietnam War, he is still remembered the words of Jeanne, ran his own life, honor and friendship. He just wanted to run; he used a running measure his life.

As we all known, an optimistic is not a luxury; it is a neceity. The way you look at life will determine how you feel and how you perform. There is enough good and bad in everyone’s life.Think about Forrest Gump, at every stage of his life, he has only one goal in mind to guide him, and keep positive attitudes towards the world. In our lives ,though barriers may sometimes stand in the way of your dreams, you should remember that your destiny is hiding behind them, to be optimistic and follow your dreams your ultimate goal is attainable so long as you commit are choosing to react positively to their diversities, tough times never last, but you should being positive.Life is a journey full of stumbling blocks, dangerous traps and unexpected crises, if you have known clearly what you want to be, it is optimistic, unrest of spirit and perseverance that carry you there. As far as my own experience as a student is concerned, nothing is more important than those merits in achieving succe. Please keep running and never give up on yourself.

2.watch the madne of primitive man, plays in the sentence: no dark,no in hide,No Cave has been around in my head.I was very moved.I thought this an anime not only lifelike 3D effect, also paed such a break with tradition, to be creative and positive energy. Not only that, deep friendship.Father of love, a father of adolescent daughter of that protection, attached shed, that responsibility is very emotional. As well as love, girls love to worship and adore the boy, very pure. Also has his son-in-law tolerance even of identity, are at ease with vivid realism.

My child is 10 years old, this film made him the entertainment themselves, also gave him a lot of inspiration in life, maybe he also does not take into account so many now, but imperceptible gave him the right to education. What is life, and is always accompanied by the value of life is what? said on the existential perspective, there is a value in itself. To a large extent, I agree with this view, that is, the value of.Because the discuion value, must be based on the existing leave, is unable to talk about values.

We need to acknowledge the existence and then its value.Live in constant pursuit of a belief in the future.

Perhaps a little too idealistic, people will not always be optimistic, full of faith, but apart from the metaphysical dimension, to build value, leave the search for life in the faith, it is difficult to find a compelling reason.More abstract to say that life itself is an act of faith.Beliefs tend to material succe and life into a succeful paradigm beliefs tend to dedication to the community, life transformation paradigm for dedication.

Self-faith block, then life becomes narrower; open belief in self, life became open.Life is a series of choices on faith. The film, perhaps the conduction is the belief in an open tomorrow, each different, but tomorrow is optional, must be selected based on effort and reach.

The review of Hoodwinked

Last week I had watched a cartoon movie through the English learning center. The name of this movie I had told you in the title, but you’ll never gue the story of it which has very big difference between what we watched and read when we were young.I can’t ensure weather it is one of prototypeof the Grimm\'s Fairy Tales, I’m sure it’s an interesting cartoon movie.

I write the eay to introduce some interesting points about the movie, of course included certain sentiment from my heart.

Do you remember the hateful timber wolfthat always tends to hurt the little Red and her grandmother? And maybe you will ask me why I ask thisquestion. Now I give you the brief introduction of Hoodwinked. The grizzliesand stork agent bill was ordered to investigate little red riding hood grandmother\'s house in case Of unrest, many people are police on charges Of criminal suspects, allowing researchers to include karate master little red riding hood, funny and a satirical Wolf, a slightly dementia in the woods Of Paul Bunyan. They were accused of there are a number of charges, including: the damage and the illegal invasion, and undermine social stability, illegal steal to eat, no license to use the axe, etc. However, all accused the suspects have their own story to tell, and this has become complicated and confusing the truth of the case, the only one, who is the real murderer......

The film is the first a fully independent investment shooting computer animation feature film.Follow is my thoughts about the movie.

From the timber wolf police I know that we can’t judge a person by his or her appearance. The kind person not to grow good looking, but the bad person must be ugly. What’s more, we can’t wrong people before finding the final facts.

The clever girl Red is an adventurous people.Little red riding hood will do deliciousdeerts,Will ride a bike, sing fair-sounding songs.

If let me say who lay the deepest impreion on my brain, the Red’s grandmother, is she.She is healthy, energetic, active, no longer that week old women.I believe the people who always take exercise will be more healthy than who that in the same age.Doesn’t she is the better example of it.

The movie was directed by Cory Edward Cory Edwards.

《Forrest Gump》

“Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.

When i watched the film that a disabled boy developed a real man by themselves.sound like Forrest gump’s mother, mama says, “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you\'re going to get.Gump’s mother is the same as another mama that she always loves her son forever.gump’s mama did her best to develop her son a real man the same as another children. To my surprise, miracles happen every day.although gump is a disabled boy,he is a good boy.gump don’t forget word his mother says forever.what’s more, gump is faced with his life.maybe he real don’t become so clever to deal with something. At last, gump don’t know if we each have a destiny, or if we’re all just floating around accidental--like on a breeze.

The film turned up Lt.dan Taylor is a soldiers he is a real man from a family ofheroes .i like him because he has his ambition in life, and do his best to do it.Fight! Excite!glory!.First and foremost, he makes friends with Forrest gump.,which tell us Lt.Dan Taylor is a good man and love in life.Gump is the same as Dan.As young people, lacking combatant spirit is becoming a severe problem in China currently, which happens many people.if one has no combatant spirit,he will always unsurprisingly fail. Why is this phenomenon so rampant? First and foremost, most young people are the only child in family.they are dependent and live at ease.Second ,they can hardly face frustration.Once they’re confronted with frustration, they trend to choose retreat.Last but not least, definite goals haven’t been set in their mind and they have no awarene of struggle. As a result, they have no initiative or ambition in life.

It is my life .our life have no war and fighting, although our life always develop quickly into better condition.as far as i am concerned, we got to put the past bad behind you before you can move on.Therefore,it is high time that young people summoned up all their courage and energy to fulfill their dreams. In my view, the key is to make their aims clear and practical.Once they have achieved something, they would collect their confidence and compete for higher goals.

In the present society, every individual makes an endeavor to pursue a higher living standard, but on the road it’s inevitable to be con fronted with the croing road in life. Thus perseverance or giving up is a common dilemma we meet in daily life. Some people put a high value on

perseverance, never giving up.However ,there are people who pay more attention to being capable of choosing and giving up in due course.

As i see it, both are of vital significance. We should persevere in what wee have chosen and give up what is unrealistic.Only in this way can we cultivate an aggreive and rational character and achieve a bright future.

Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.(生命就像一盒巧克力,结果往往出人意料)

《Flipped》film review

The plot of the film is a subtle statement, from the perspective of two people watching the same iue.Although only a small boy and small girl story, but he moved that noise. Two families with two children, also see people with different personalities.Memory of my grandfather on my grandmother, because of their age precipitation perception of life; the girl\'s father, the brothers take care of, appreciation of natural beauty, optimism and indifferent to life; also conceal the inferiority of his heart, boy.

The most shocking is the girl sitting in the fig tree to see the scenery, vast, magnificent.People seem to have such a moment, when a man began to wake up, start thinking, start moving, and Bryce, the attitude of Julie, from resentment, to doubt, from compaion, to accept, make me feel very real A child\'s thinking. When you are 12 years old to 13 years in such a stage, you will have a lot of things confused. You do not know who you are, you do not know how to do next.At this point there is a mentor and guide is a very important thing. This should normally be the role of the mother or father, but in this film, the father himself to the world full of anger.Bryce is lucky, he had a grandfather in life to tell him who he is, he should become a kind of person.Julie is very lucky, she has a family to give her the right values. The value of her own with a strong self-awarene, she knows what she wants. We can see such a family, giving them the right values, the children of other families can benefit from it, to seek their own value.

A Running Life

——《 Forrest Gump》

《Forrest Gump》,indeed a claic movie.Mainly because there has never been a movie character that I have appreciated so much as Forrest Gump.A simple man who experienced or even created some of the most significant events in American history, while all he really wants is to be with the woman he loves, Jenny.Just so! Many times as we like Forrest Gump can not find reason to do one thing, many times we are nowhere near as Forrest Gump, those who do not know why they are always very easy to halfway.Person\'s life is often so, as titles and credits in the patch of white feathers floating in the wind, most of the time, we may have in the drift, this floating is no specific direction, dull to boring. However, a fine line a turn, or by their total control, you only need to try to do it perfect, do not care how much you actually get, then you can fly higher and higher, you will find, the more upwardly mobile place, the closer heaven, I believe Forrest Gump\'s succe is not accidental.Forrest Gump has a lot of his theories, he sat on the bench side of the road way and did not know about his legend, he was preceded by the words of each theory: her mother said.

---- Mother said, life is like chocolate, you never know what you will taste the flavor.

---- Mother said, you must understand that you and the people around you, like you and they are no different, no.

---- My mother, I just told myself, when I do one thing, I will try to do it, do I ever like your mother, this is something I can not choose God to you gave me, my children, I must try to do your mother, I did.

Forrest Gump is a very obedient child, he remembered these words, he said, there are stupid as stupid. When Jenny told him to gallop, he stumbled up and running, running loose his memory of the first double-magic shoes, but also to discover the potential of his first: to run.He has been in the running to start is to escape, then he ran into the football team, then later ran into the University, run a degree. On the battlefield during the Vietnam War, he still remember Jenny, then ran back to their lives, but also back to honor and friendship.

You have to admit, in fact, a lot of things have their chance of succe factors, it does not because of your deliberate and closer to the end, but it will when you inadvertently give your efforts to praise one of the most appropriate reward.Loyal to him, so he was alone in the Vietnam War out of danger, he still ran back to the jungle to find his comrades. He was trustworthy, he promised his comrades were to buy a shrimp boat to be, but his comrades died, he was incredible in

the eyes of others to achieve his last wish, but also for their own gain great wealth. He was persistent, so he will leave after a run in the Jenny three years acro the entire United States, has been kept, he told you, he just wanted to run, he was measured with a running life, which do not need to Peace and Freedom, or any high-sounding things as a reason. His friendly, lieutenant saved his life after losing both legs of the lieutenant had been killed on the battlefield that they can not still to disability footer Gouqietousheng and shame, and anger, as lieutenant is such a person: him as honor above all else, he can not tolerate ordinary, is Forrest Gump with a friendly and regain the confidence of his life, so he found that, even without legs, life is still full of life..

Forrest Gump doesn’t have ambitious ideal., he also lost a lot.He has few friens and even always been laughted by wise man.moreever, his mother and jenny left him one by one.He has not despair, love still continues, he has his own children, a clever little Forrest Gump, his life continues, he is not smart, but he always knows how to make life full of hope.He also won the honor, wealth and love, ordinary people can never have both of these things.

The Shawshank Redemption

The Shawshank Redemption is a 1994 American drama film written and directed by Frank Darabont starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman.

Tim Robbins stars as Andy Dufresne, a succeful young banker who is sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife and her lover.Andy is sent to Shawshank prison, a dour and depreing place where brutality from both guards and other prisoners is commonplace.Andy makes friends with Ellis Boyd “Red” Redding (Morgan Freeman), a lifer who has already spent many years inside.Red specializes in smuggling items into the prison for the other prisoners.Red soon discovers that Andy is a most unusual prisoner, although at first it seems to do him little good – he is brutalized by other prisoners

He starts to get both other prisoners and guards on his side when he offers to help one of the most notorious guards with a tax problem in exchange for bottles of chilled beer for everyone in his work party. From then on, Andy always seems to be working on one thing or another. He improves the prison’s tiny library, and helps those prisoners who want to study. He also handles the guards’ tax returns, and even helps the swindling Warden (Bob Gunton) cook the books.Over the years, he gains the respect of most of the other prisoners and guards.More importantly, he never loses hope for the future – a hope he tries to pa on to the other prisoners. He never stops believing in life’s poibilities, but to make the most of them he needs to be free.

20 years later, when Tommy, who might prove Andy\'s claims of innocence, was killed by Warden Norton, he had a decision.Andy returns to his regular cell block and tells Red of his dream of living in Zihuatanejo, a Mexican-Pacific coastal town.He instructs Red, should he ever be freed, to visit a specific hayfield near Buxton to retrieve a package Andy left there. The next day at roll call, Andy\'s cell is empty. After escaping, Andy poses as Randall Stevens to withdraw most of the corruption money from several banks, and then sends evidence of Norton\'s corruption to a local newspaper. The police arrive at the prison and Hadley is arrested, but Norton commits suicide to evade arrest.

The happy ending is that Red receives parole after serving 40 years and violates his parole and travels to Fort Hancock, Texas to skip the border to Mexico. The two are happily reunited on the beach.

Based on the Stephen King (non-horror) novella “Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption”, this is a simple story made remarkable by the interaction between the two lead characters. Both Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman do a fine job in terms of making their roles

genuine and appealing, and also in the way they work so well together.

It\'s simple to say The Shawshank Redemption is about hope, but it is also about faith and friendship.Red says “Hope is a dangerous thing.” Because after 30 years’ struggling he lost his hope. However, Andy tells him “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies”.So he spent 20 years digging a way to freedom. When he crawled from the stinking piping filled with foul water, he can’t help shouting in the heavy rain.He deserves it.I still remember when Andy spares no efforts to play an Italian song in the radio, the prisoners and guards just stand where they are and enjoy the song from god.It is the time when they feel freedom.“It takes a strong man to save himself, and a great man to save another.” When repairing the roof, Andy helped the guard and won beers for friends. He just sit on the roof and watch them drinking and laughing, and smiled with great happine. In fact he wanted to find the feeling when they were repairing their own house freely.

However, strong man is always the minority.Brooks, who stays in the prison library for 50 years, tries to not be released on parole by hurting others. Is it strange? Brooks had been ruled by the rules in prison. And without them they won’t live.Brooks finally got free physically, but his soul had been locked in the prison forever. He finally can’t bear the situation of not being adapted to freedom and commit suicide. And even Red, the wiser man, found it woefully that he should report to his manager when going to W.C., or he would feel uncomfortable. He even thought of breaking rules to get back to prison or suicide like Brooks.

Busy for living, or busy for death.Maybe those who are always busy working or struggling for living should stop for a moment, noticing someone around you or just look into themselves.

This is a movie about friendship, not love. The friendship between men in prison shocks me.The friendship between Andy and Red is under the wall, but it seems purer and cleaner than anyone in the world. They are both introvert, but they know each other. So when they met each other on the sunny beach on a small island, they smiled, which means everything.

5 years ago, I watched this movie for the first time.In my eyes, it was a motivational movie at that time.It told me never lose hope and to stick to my faith, by which I can hold my fate. And now I see rules in this movie. In fact, everyone lives in a prison, which has its own rules. It is the rules that imprison us, not the walls. At first you may hate them, and then you get adapted to them little by little, at last you won’t live without them.Andy’s story is just a fairy tale for adults. As dreams never come true, no one will be an Andy.

Review of “The Grandmaster”It’s more than fair to say that Wong Kar-wai’s movies are not easy to understand. The Hong Kong director rarely focuses on narratives in his works.Yet, he is undeniably an excellent storyteller who always feeds audiences with a visual and emotional feast.

His latest movie, “The Grandmaster”, which chronicles the life of the Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man from the 1930s in Foshan, his flight to Hong Kong during the Second Sino-Japanese War,and the events leading to his death. It is another of Wong’s typical movie: light on narrative, but full of his trademark elegance, the movie weaves the director’s familiar themes of love, lo and the corrosive nature of time around gorgeous martial arts sequences.

Fight scenes in a martial arts movie are like song-and-dance numbers in a musical: After certain amount of dialogue, you are ready for one.The choreography of the action scenes in “The Grandmaster” was designed by Yuen Wo-Ping, whose credits include “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and who understands that form is more important than function.

There’s also a competition to find unlikely settings for martial arts scenes. In “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” Lee gives us a scene of startling daring, when two protagonists cling to the tops of fall, swaying trees and swing back and forth during a sword fight. In “The Grandmaster,” many of the kung-fu scenes are set in beautifully furnished parlor rooms that suggest the quiet intensity of a high-stakes che game, but one in which the threats could mean life or death.Such as Gong Er(Zhang Ziyi)’s challenging Ip Man (Tony Leung Chiu-wai) to regain her family\'s honor in Golden Building, and they agree that if anything breaks, Ip loses.\"Kung Fu is about precision.\" It becomes clear that Mr.Wong is showing his audience that kung fu is not only a sport of strength superiority but an intellectual pursuit.

“The Grandmaster” takes place mainly from the late 1930s to the mid-1950s, a turbulent time in China\'s history, but one that the film doesn\'t dwell on, and focuses on Ip Man(Tony Leung Chiu-wai)\'s marriage to his wife Cheung Wing-sing(Song Hye Kyo) and his tentative friendship with Gong Er(Zhang Ziyi).Ip loves his wife deeply and try his best to please her.Regardle of the rumor, he takes Cheung out to the Golden Building just because she loves opera. What about the relationship between Ip and Gong? Until their final meet, we get something.Gong said, “Mr.Ip, you’ve in my heart.” We can’t confirm that she loved him.Maybe, in some degrees, Gong to Ip is not so much a competitor as a confidante.

Wong is a fan of recurring themes and “The Grandmaster” is no

exception. In this movie particularly, the idea that age makes them weak and le able to defend themselves troubles the martial arts masters.During the Sino-Japanese war, Ip Man (Tony Leung Chiu-wai) loses his two daughters due to starvation.Gong Er (Zhang Ziyi) loses her desire to use martial art and be a doctor.Another kung-fu expert, Razor (Chang Chen) descends into a barber.Time proves once again to be the greatest enemy, causing people not only to grow old but also to forget the things they hold dear.

Ultimately, the movie poetically delivers the wisdom of martial arts tradition. As a line in the movie goes, “They say live without regrets, but how boring life would be if there was no regret.” The culture of martial arts is entrenched in a profound philosophy of life. Therefore, it will be a challenge for the audiences to understand what Ip is thinking or what the story is trying to convey.

When it comes to my favorite movie, I will say” The Lord of the Rings” without hesitation.Directed by Peter Jackson, the movie is very popular and has drawn large audiences by it magnificent scene of war and the vivid description of people.Telling aboutsacrificing lives todefend the homeland for the world‟s bright future, the movie consists of three parts, they are“the fellowship of the ring”, “the two towers”and” the return of the king”.

There is a character that moves me most, whose name is Frodo Baggins. He is a hobbit living in Shire, but the ordinary hobbitbears the burden voluntarilywhich seems can‟t be completed. It‟s true that he is one of the Nine Walkers in the company of ring but, neverthele, all the main job falls upon his shoulders.Frodo Baggins, like Jesus, bears his cro throughout the three parts of the fantasy adventure, not trusting anyone with his heavy and, at times, dangerous burden.Despite knowing that his true friend Sam is always ready to help, Frodo knows-he is the one responsible for the outcome of the journey.

Frodo, as we all know, is a strong character bearing the One Ring longer than anyone else.Prolonging his life, the ring undermines his health however. After the journey, his distinctive mark is the scar on his left chest, wounded by the King „sNazgul‟s blade. What‟s more, he was short of one of his fingers, which was bitten off by Gollum together with the ring on the slope of the Mountain Doom.

It‟s hard to imagine that an ordinary person can complete the task.Frodo wants to give up during the journey, but he doesn‟t turn back, for he holds on to the belief that there must be something good in this world which worth fighting for.

Even if you are not powerful, not strong, you can change the world like any great man. This is what I learn from” The Lord of the Rings”.Everyone can be a lord.

马语者 The Horse Whisperer 英文影评 review by James Berardinelli

Low, gray clouds scud acro the sky while the gra of a seemingly-endle plain ripples in response to the prompting of a spring breeze.Thunder rumbles in the distance. On another day, a bright sun gazes down on those same fields while cattle roam from horizon to horizon. The silhouette of a lone cowboy on horseback stands out against an evening skyline.Above these vistas, the Rocky Mountains tower like implacable guardians, seeing all. These are only some of the images from The Horse Whisperer, a film as rich in its visual presentation as it is in its emotional resonance. As directed by veteran actor/film maker Robert Redford, The Horse Whisperer is a powerful and moving tale of love and lo that eschews melodramatic manipulation in its pursuit of a simple, honest tale.I have not read the best-selling novel by Nicholas Evans upon which the movie is based, but if it\'s as good as (or better than) the motion picture adaptation, it\'s easy to understand its appeal. As a director, Redford has made some impreive films; this is among his best.

The Horse Whisperer opens peacefully enough, with two teenage girls leaving their houses in the early morning hours for a horseback ride. The sunrise is brilliant, and, as snow begins to fall later in the day, the fields and forest are turned into a winter wonderland of blues and silvers.Everything is picture perfect until tragedy strikes, brutally and without warning. One of the girls\' mounts loses his footing on the icy ground and, suddenly, the two friends are in the path of a skidding 18-wheeler.One girl and her horse die.The other pair, Grace MacLean (Scarlett Johanon), and her beloved steed, Pilgrim, are badly injured.Grace loses the lower half of one leg.Pilgrim is driven mad, and everyone advises that he be put to sleep.

Grace\'s parents, Annie and Robert MacLean (Kristin Scott Thomas and Sam Neill), are ill- prepared to help their daughter cope with her physical disability and the mental scars of having seen her best friend run down by an out-of-control truck.Annie decides that Grace\'s recovery will be aided if she can find a way to heal Pilgrim (the film\'s only dubious contrivance). So, with her daughter and the horse in tow, Annie heads out to Montana, where a legendary \"horse whisperer,\" Tom Booker (Robert Redford), lives and works on a ranch. After seeing Pilgrim, Tom agrees to try to help the horse, and so begins a long period of restoration for four souls: Pilgrim, Grace, Annie, and Tom.

Those of a romantic nature may focus on the understated relationship between Annie and Tom, but that\'s just one aspect of a story of great depth. The Horse Whisperer is about the healing power of love.Like Atom Egoyan\'s masterpiece, The Sweet Hereafter, this film eloquently illustrates how difficult it is to recover from a life- altering trauma, and how the ripples from such an event can affect those who were not directly involved.Everyone in this film has their own demons to wrestle with.Grace, who retreats into a sullen cocoon after the accident, is raw on the inside, but won\'t let it out.She resents her mother\'s emotional distance and is frightened that the lo of her leg makes her usele and will doom her to a life alone.(\"Nobody will want me like this!\") Annie, who is used to being in charge, doesn\'t know how to cope with the situation, and, when she takes the time to examine her life, she recognizes how the preures of her career have leeched away her humanity.Meanwhile, Tom, who is basically at peace with himself, begins to re-discover what it means to love, something he had lost when his wife left him.

There is an Oscar-caliber performance in The Horse Whisperer, but it isn\'t given by Redford, Scott-Thomas, or Neill.Instead, it\'s the work of young Scarlett Johanon, who has already proven her talent with a remarkable debut in Manny & Lo.As Grace, Johanon makes a case to be placed alongside Christina Ricci and Natalie Portman as one of the best actrees of her generation. She does everything neceary to make Grace a living and vital character, and, like all good performers, much of her acting comes through subtle expreion changes and body language.Johanon is so effective, in fact, that Grace\'s story becomes The Horse Whisperer\'s emotional core, not just a plot device whereby Tom and Annie find themselves and one another.

Redford\'s Tom is exactly the kind of character we expect from Redford: a solid, kind, rugged man who is long on patience and rarely displays much emotion. It could be argued that the former matinee idol is a little too old for this sort of role, but, even with his features growing wrinkled and weathered, the camera still flatters him.Kristin Scott Thomas makes a worthy opposite: she\'s attractive (but not so stunning that she steals the spotlight away from her older co-star), mature, and a good actre.Solid support is provided by the always-reliable Sam Neill, Chris Cooper (Lone Star), and Dianne Wiest.

Emotionally, The Horse Whisperer finds the perfect pitch.There\'s no overacting and no overt audience manipulation; we feel with and for the characters, but there\'s never a sense that we\'re being tricked into providing a particular, desired response. The film is neither relentlely downbeat nor needlely cheerful; it\'s about healing, but there is a strong, bittersweet current running through the love story subplot.

As a director, Redford has never shown greater mastery of his material. His presentation of Montana, with all of its glorious open spaces, is enough to make anyone in the theater think about heading west.He also manages to make the day-to-day activities of running a ranch and working with horses seem interesting. At the outset, I feared that I might be bored by The Horse Whisperer, but, despite the running length (which creeps close to Titanic territory with no shipwreck in sight), I found myself thoroughly absorbed. The presentation of the truck accident is memorable for the way in which it is staged -- it\'s loud, horrifying, and chaotic. The editing and cinematography are perfect, and fashion an unforgettable cinematic moment.

Speaking of cinematography, it\'s neceary to say a few words about Richard Richardson\'s work, which is effective throughout. As good as Richardson is in photographing the sky and land, and presenting instances in silhouette, he is no le accomplished in capturing the nuances of small moments -- a quick smile here, a studied glance there. Most capable cinematographers would be hard-preed not to make a shot of the Rocky Mountains look impreive; Richardson does as much with his photography of the characters as he does with the setting.

Redford, along with screenwriters Richard LaGravenese and Eric Roth, has made a significant change to the ending of the story as presented in the novel. But, while die-hard fans of Evans\' book may be disappointed by the alteration, which significantly dampens the level of melodrama, it fits perfectly with the delicately-balanced tale and characters Redford has brought to the screen.Every summer, it seems that there is at least one literate, intelligent alternative to the mindle blaze of action films. For the early season of 1998, it\'s The Horse Whisperer.Godzilla may be bigger, but for those who care about plot and character, and who want to experience a genuine emotional response, this is the real giant.

When i began to read the novel Rebbecca, I was deeply absorded by the misterious plot.\"Last night, I dreamt I went to Manderley again\" is the book\'s often quoted opening line, and from here its unnamed narrator recollects her past, telling the story of her transition into womanhood.

Maxim was the owner of Manderley, a big country house by the sea.His beautiful wife Rebecca had died there, and Maxim went to Montr Carlo after her death because he needed to get away.In Montr Carlo, he met an ordinary girl who then became his second wife. The week they spent in Montr Carlo together was extremely happy. But when they returned to Manderley, the woman’s problem began. At the heart of the story was the woman’s desire to please her husband and her feelings of hopelene as she compared herself with his beautiful and highly educated first wife, in comparison with whom she felt plain and dull. The first wife seemed to be always in the background and threw a dark shadow over her relationship with her new husband. The name of the second Mrs.de Winter is never revealed and remains a mystery. After read the book, we only see Rebecca through other people\'s eyes, predominantly Maxim\'s eyes.Because Maxim hated her, we are led to think that she was bad.Yet it is clearly stated that she had a knack for getting people to love her. This is told in such a way that we think of Rebecca as a manipulative person. But was that the case? Was she genuinely nice? I think this is a case of the unreliable narrator.Because of her affairs Maxim and his family hated her but that may not be her whole story.I think it would be nice to have some discuion of this iue in the article. After reading the whole story of Rebecca, i can not help asking: why does the heroine remain namele? This absence of a name symbolizes the heroine\'s uncertain identity, on which she often nearly loses her grip during her time at Manderley. In marrying Maxim she has taken a new name, and her new acquaintances addre her by this name, but she cannot feel comfortable in it--for she is not the first Mrs.de Winter.Effectively, she is competing for the right to bear her title of Mrs.de Winter- -competing with a ghost, the dead Rebecca. What I have learned from this book is not only about some writing techniques and skills that had been perfectly used into this novel, more important is Daphne du Maurier the writter, she give us a brand new perspective of the women characters in the novel and women in general, and about the relationship between people.

because Lincoln iued the emancipation black slaves declaration, \"so black got liberation, but the social reality of see, is still black position than white men, because black people are all through the triangle trade from Africa to the americas transportation of slaves. The American civil war completely buried slave system, the bourgeois government ruled out the sons of former slave owners interference, carried out a series of measures to economic development, and promote economic development. While the United States take up a lot of foreign immigrants, especially European immigrants brought the advanced production technology and some capital, greatly accelerated the pace of the industrial development. The United States government is so pay attention to culture education, and actively reward technological invention, promote the overall development of the national economy. The United States enjoy long peace and stability of the environment, can feel at ease for development and construction, and has abundant natural resources available for use, thus promote the economic high.So the United States can be in after the civil war le than thirty years\' time, industrial output in the world first place quickly.A, black American equal rights struggle in law and certain level in actually made great achievements, black condition of the improved obviously, this is obvious to the facts.

The bill of rights from the law destroyed for a long time the United States in the social segregation, to eliminate the social life of the racial discrimination malpractice plays an active role. After the civil rights movement, the first black political status has improved and increasing the number of participation.Second, the black economy may have got better.[2] the life of the Negro than ever with improved. In the cultural education field, because of the civil rights movement constantly impact, the United States has long practice of education system of segregation to basically be abolished, the black teenagers of the opportunity to go to school than ever to have increased. At the same time, from the s to the civil rights movement now 30 years, American society of racial discrimination atmosphere compared to the past has greatly abate, the concept of racial equality in the form in the cla started, and in the law, the administration, education, etc shows that influence. In short, history is on the march, it slowly, the trend of the forward is stop.

ut for black people in the United States in the achievements of the above all can estimate is too high, and must sell at a discount greatly.Just as in politics, the number of participation was increased, blacks in the United States politics have not got the number of its equal status and influence, they are still excluded from government decision-making program besides, far failed to control his own political fate.In scientific and technical areas, black engineers and scientists also can be counted, LiaoReChenXing, most black for science and technology. In a word, today, the shadow of racial discrimination in America is still in the political life, employment, education and technology, social customs and psychological state many aspects such as serious exists, and often take more hidden form, make black suffering bitterly, but difficult to ? in words

The U.S.economy, the American society, the psychological state of the United States, all has the racist nature.......Against black law is could be abolished, but the problem of poor will still exist, and this problem is due to the color of skin caused by the historic and institutionalized the results.

After 50-60 s civil rights movement after the impact, the education system is apartheid was repealed, but because racism to the profound influence of the vast black teenagers today have not been equal education by chance. The current black face a variety of problems, such as low political social status, employment, housing, medical treatment insurance, etc discrimination and their life poor etc, all from education are not racial discrimination find root.

The film review of “My Fairy Lady”

Eliza Doolittle, a beautiful young lady. She is a girl with happine, even the place she live is dirty and crowd, she never let smile slipped out from her face. She has a dream, a warm house with her lover, and a lot of chocolates to eat.“Wouldn’t it be lovely?”

Henry Higgins, an English Linguistic profeor, is a typical English wealthy and defiant bachelor. He regards marriage the most boring and troublesome thing in the world. He is also a precise worker in his work as a language profeor. It is often mistakenly said that they collaborate because Higgins decides to improve Eliza\'s cockney accent. But in fact it is Eliza who takes the initiative, presenting herself at Henry\'s bachelor quarters to sign up for leons: \"I know what leons cost as well as you do, and I\'m ready to pay.\" The leon followed is a nightmare to not only Eliza but also Higgins.Higgins take this collaborates as an experiment and always a way to show his ability. He pushes Eliza day and night practicing her pronunciation. As Eliza and Higgins train together, they become accustomed to each other even though it is an abusive relationship on Higgins\' part.

This film stays true to the original material, and Higgins doesn\'t cave in during a soppy rewritten \"happy ending.\" Astonished that the ungrateful Eliza has stalked out of his home, Higgins asks, \"Why can\'t a woman be more like a man?\" Why can not? He believe man is much more justice faithfulne and tolerate than woman. With his mother’s remindful words, Higgins realizes he loves Eliza, but even in the play\'s famous last line he perseveres as a defiant bachelor: \"Eliza? Where the devil are my slippers?\" It remains an open question for us, at the final curtain, whether Eliza stays to listen to what he says next.

This story has no busine with romantic in my mind. What it tells me is about change and attitude.Eliza’s father, used to be a man has nothing left to lose, is now tied by morality and status which he never cares about before. The change of his financial affairs leads to the change of his living attitude.Casting back the reason why it happens is just a joke said by Higgins, and that is really a satire, isn’t it? Generally speaking, although three hours of the time is actually a little bit long, this film is still worth to watch, I highly recommend it.

War Horse

The film is based on the adaptation the British writer Michael.Moerpuge, namesake children\'s literature, as background to the First World War, briefly about courage, loyalty, peace and brotherhood between a horse named Joey and boy Albertthe touching story. There are two clues movie, a boy looking for love was conscripted to the war horse turning back onto the battlefield, and the other a small Maqiao Yi experiences in the war all the cruelty and moved. The overall tone of the movie is heartwarming, full of youth inspirational elements.

You may find yourself resisting this sentimental pageant of early-20th-century rural English life, replete with verdant fields, muddy tweeds and damp turnips, but my strong advice is to surrender.Allow your sped-up, modern, movie-going metabolism, accelerated by a diet of frantic digital confections — including Mr.Spielberg’s just-released “Adventures of Tintin” — to calm down a bit.Suppre your instinctive impatience, quiet the snarky voice in your head and allow yourself to recall, or perhaps to discover, the deep pleasures of sincerity.

If you can fake that, the old Hollywood adage goes, you’ve got it made. But while “War Horse” is, like so many of Mr.Spielberg’s films, a work of supreme artifice, it is also a self-conscious attempt to revive and pay tribute to a glorious tradition of honest, emotionally direct storytelling.Shot the old-fashioned way, on actual film stock (the cinematographer is Mr.Spielberg’s frequent collaborator Janusz Kaminski), the picture has a dark, velvety luster capable of imparting a measure of movie-palace magic to the impersonal cavern of your local multiplex.

The story, in its early chapters, also takes you back to an older — you may well say cornier — style of entertainment.Joey, the fleet-footed, headstrong half-Thoroughbred of the title, is purchased at auction by Ted Narracott (Peter Mullan), a proud and grouchy Devon farmer with a tendency to drink too much. His household includes a loving, scolding wife, Rosie (Emily Watson); a cantankerous goose; and a strapping lad named Albert (Jeremy Irvine), who forms an immediate and unbreakable bond with Joey. The teenage boy trains the horse to pull a plow and together they ride through the stunning scenery.

But this pastoral is darkened by memories of war — Ted fought the Boers in South Africa, an experience so terrible he cannot speak of it to his son — and by

social divisions. The Narracotts are tenant farmers at the mercy of their landlord (David Thewlis), and if “War Horse” pays tribute to solid British virtues of decency and discipline it also, like a Thomas Hardy novel, exposes the snobbery and economic oppreion that are, if anything, even more deeply rooted in that nation’s history.

The movie, I was very shocked that two Anglo-German soldiers join forces to cut iron gill nets to rescue Joey that episode. This fragment is not long, but deeply appreciate the war to bring the two warring sides suffering of the people and helplene,At the same time showed the desire of the yearning for peace.British \"Times\" also comments: \"horses\" is an absolute can not mi the touching works ,it allows us to re-experience the happine of living.

After valiantly battle Maqiao Yi met with the boy, this scene touched by the presence of all the officers and men.In this case, the roar of gunfire, we seem to have heard the hymn of love, their friendship through the war, acro the English Channel, the life and death of distre without fear remains steadfast as ever.

Reflects the love in the movie moved us, let us ponder reflects the yearning for peace. It tells us that war is cruel, heartle, we should cherish the life, cherish the hard-won peace.

After seeing the film TITANICT,what impreed me most is that the film is really well written and I love the way it is told in flashback.

It begins with a group of present-day treasure hunters exploring the wreckage of the Titanic (which results in some brilliant underwater footage). However They find nothing but an old safe that\'s completely empty save for a drawing of a woman. An elderly woman suddenly phones them and says she\'s the woman in the picture which makes them surprising. She then tells the divers and her granddaughter the main plot of the film.

One thing that I really like as well about the flashback format is the editing. Each time the film always shifts between the past or present via a match cut, such as a video of the wreckage of the Titanic in the present day changing into the Titanic before it left in 1912 or a close-up shot of ýoung Rose\'s eye to the eye of the elderly Rose in the present.

The characters are all really well developed.I love how the film manages to blend some of the real historical figures (I.E.the crew of the Titanic) with fictional characters (I.E.Rose, Jack) and yet it is still incredibly believable, as if this really was a true story. The story is largely focused on the relationship between Rose and Jack, but the film constantly manages to develop other characters.Even the present-day characters are really well developed.

The story is very well written, and I love the way how it changes in tone throughout. The film starts off exciting, with many people excited, yet still manages to portray Rose in a somewhat sympathetic role.A large portion of it is the romance between Jack and Rose, but the film manages to have some dramatic scenes, with a large sub-plot of the story being the conflict between Rose and the rest of her upper-cla family. The film even manages to include a bit of humour here and there, but doesn\'t take it too far. However everything changes near the end, when we have the iceberg, and all of a sudden the film becomes very dark and tragic.

The climax is very impreive. It takes place once the Titanic hits the iceberg. At this point, the film manages to succefully shift focus between different people. It manages to focus on the protagonists, but also manages to focus on the chaos and tension as the ship sinks and the crew struggle to keep order and get the paengers off safely. It brilliantly manages to capture the tragedy and horror of the disaster.

Overall this movie is a cinematic masterpiece and one that you definitely should see if you haven\'t already.

简介

Tripp walks into a bank to get some change and ends up as a hostage to two bank robber-teams, robbing the bank he is at.It does start with two sets of robbers with very different backgrounds and techniques. One a very profeional veteran crew of highly skilled robbers with a well laid out plan. The other was a pair of absolute complete idiots without the slightest clue of what they are doing. In an almost Sherlock Holmesian way he has to solve this Agatha Christie inspired mystery and win the girls heart. But not everything is at it seems, and there are many twists and turns in this comedy.

感想 I wasn\'t expecting that much from this going in, but grew interested very early。One team is after the vault the others after the ATM\'s.So a loose pact is made between them.As for what comes next, let\'s say there are a lot of very entertaining high jinx between the hostages and the robbers, there is twists and turns and even more twists and turns as Dempsey\'s character

leads viewers all around with his witty and neurotic behavior, he is the glue to the film and acts as the glue to the \"flypaper\" as everyone gets stuck one by one, You won\'t be figuring out what is happening next and the surprise ending is sure to leave you with a smirk.....

The two women in the life of Forrest Gump

----the film review on the film “Forrest Gump”

Forrest Gump, the movie which I have watched for three times, is a film that surprised and moved me so much .It was based on the novel of Winston Groom while the hero is a famous actor—Tom Hanks. He performed so well all through the film that I enjoyed the warm human nature, the inspiration of belief and other virtues through any scene in it.

The female, a kind of role, is very eential in the film as it acts in the real society .As the Chinese saying goes, women hold up half the sky.In the life of Forrest Gump, there are two women—one is his great mother, the other is his lifelong lover, Jenny. They accounted for Forrest’s whole life.

At the beginning of the film, Mrs.Gump, Forrest’s mother, impreed me much .I think Forrest with an IQ of 75 was so lucky to own such a strong-minded and smart mother. She and her Forrest lived in Greenbow, Alabama, all on their own.She told Forrest he was no different than anybody else was though he braced his legs.Under her philosophical words, “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get”, Forrest achieved marvelous succe in his life step by step such as entering college, being awarded the Congreional medal of honour, being a gozillionaire and so on.She was just like any mother to love Forrest from the bottom of her heart and inspire him any time.In turn she was also proud of Forrest with happy smile in his college graduation ceremony and when he was awarded as a Vietnam War hero.Unfortunately, she was sick with a cancer and died on a Tuesday. At the end of her life, she still teached her son to accept death as a part of life and to pursue his own destiny.Though keeping far away in the heaven finally, I think this mother would still look at and ble her son.

Jenny was Forrest’s lifelong lover. They met each other in the school bus.In the film Jenny did many bad things to Forrest. From their childhood right on up Jenny and Forrest were good friends .They came to school together and grew with each other’s accompany. Finally though they stayed far away from each other, Forrest

always loved his Jenny. No matter whatever she had done, whoever she was and wherever she stayed, Forrest still remained in the home of Alabama miing his girl and waiting for her return from day to night.

This is just Forrest Gump. This is his love. This is his Jenny.

I also thought of such scene: Forrest kept in the dorm of Jenny and Jenny asked about who he would dream to be.Forrest just gave an answer that he wanted to be himself.I am moved deeply by it because though he is a fool, Forrest knows what he really needs. As to him, he only wants to be himself and fall in love with a lady named Jenny.

Besides in another scene in Washington Jenny asked,“Why are you so good to me ?”, while Forrest’s answer was “You are my girl”.Why is it not “I love you”?Because there is no need of more words to expre Forrest’s love to Jenny .It was not added with any limitations and no request of paying back.We can compare today’s love with Forrest’s and then gain the feeling of purity. At the end, Forrest Gump, the fool of Alabama, married his lover Jenny and had a little Forrest.

There are more to consider about Forrest Gump.I believe it is so excellent a movie and every one would be moved by Forrest Gump.
