Personal Statement of Intent
I am Chenken , born in 1990 in Zhejiang China , an area that has long been well known for its diligent people and high level of economy , and I am writing this letter in hope of pursuing advanced studies of master degree programme in your esteemed university .Such studies , I believe , are indispensable for my future career development and are beneficial for my whole life.
Now , I am a undergraduate student in Tianjin University of Finance and Economics(TJUFE) and it is my last academic year for the four-year bachelor degree programme .When I made the choice to select TJUFE in 2009 after paing the National College Entrance Examination(NCEE) , I knew that a meaningful life should be aiming high and working hard to reach targets .After entering TJUFE , I chose Actuary , a branch of Statistics , as my major because I liked this subject and had been attracted to this territory since I came into contact with its history , sophisticated technology and development in the world .
I have studied very hard and obtained rich experience and various skills in the learning of my major and different kinds of activities during my past 3 years studying in university .I have minored the second bachelor of Finance in my spare time for the interest and purposes to intensify my ability and to expand my outlook .In Tianjin University of Finance and Economics I have acce to the advanced softwares involving statistics such as R , Eviews , SPSS and SAS .In addition , I learnt theories and gained experience in the practice in out department’s laboratory and fulfilled several reports about statistics .The skills and knowledge I acquired in the studying of finance also help me comprehend the Statistics and Acruary better and establish critical concepts .And I become more and more interested in these areas .What is the most important is that the research aptitude I obtained that is matched for further study in master degree programme .I am preparing and working for my degree project with the help of my tutor Prof.Lasheng Li now .Idealy , I will get qualification of Bachelor Degree of Science and Minor Bachelor Degree of Economics , expected in May 2013 .I really appreciate the chance for the further study.Thus I am eager for the stage to improve and practise .
I am team-orientated and have rich experience in practice and gained a lot of honours in past .I required honorary certificates such as the outstanding student cadre of TJUFE in the first academic year , the third-cla scholarship of TJUFE in the second academic year , the outstanding student cadre of TJUFE in the third academic year and the merit student of TJUFE in the third academic year .Addittionally , I have taken diversified activites,such as the program of volunteer and the thesis competition of Department Statistics .Specifically , I participated in different kinds of activity of volunteer organization such as a volunteer in the athletic meeting of Tianjin University Students,as an aistant to improve scholling in primary
school,as a volunteer to take a consolation to the geracomium,etc .And my thesis about investigating the busine in Song Dynasty and understanding the development of salt industry and tea industry in that periodreceived the acceit of the competition .Through closely working and studying with my clamates, I thoroughly understood the importance ofcoordination and preparation for the task , which would be an important ability matching for the postgraduate .Further more , as a student cadre , I have the qualities, whick gained in practice, to fulfill any miions .Although i does not have much experience of internship,the confidence moves me on .What I believe is that my potential and capacity are suitable for the program in your university .
All these help me optimize my structure of theories .But realizing the limitation of my present scope of knowledge , I feel that it is neceary to further my study .I know the subjects of finance and actuary are developing significantly in China , and the technologies can be applied to many fields and the demand for the intellectuals in these fields is great .The Uppsala University enjoys a worldwide reputation in these areas and if I can study my master degree in Uppsala University , I cay lay a solid foundation for my future career development .
