Bunett’s The Secret Garden is very popular both in the children and the adults.It is because the book’s writing style is very simple---not very formal or informal.And the characters in the novel are all distinct personality and true to life.
Mary is the hero of the book.She is born in a wealthy family, but her parents don’t care about her at all.So at the beginning of the story, Mary is an unattractive and selfish girl whose all people don’t like or care about.But when she is sent to her uncle’s manor in England, and met the secret garden, things begin to change.When her uncle, Mr.Graven asks her what she wants, she says she just wants a bit of earth to plant something.I think this is a symbol of her changes.
Colin is the son of Mary’ uncle, he is a sad, weak and wired boy.When Mary met him, she does not laugh at him but does something for him and shares happine and sadne.So they establish their friendship which Mary has never had before.Mary shows up and takes Colin to the outside world and to the secret garden.Finally, it trues out that the three children---Mary,Dickon and Colin---become the close friends and have the wonderful time in the secret garden.Mary gives light and hopes to Colin, helping him defeat and overcome his illne.At the end of the novel, the fresh air and beautiful flowers in the garden benefit them a lot.They both change into sunshine boys and girls.
After reading the book, I have much feeling about this book.What’s more, I benefit a lot from it.
On one hand, this novel tells us something about the attitude to life.In the novel, we can see many changes: the change of the garden itself, the change of Mary, the change of Colin and his father.All of this changes are due to the secret garden.The garden symbolized the dream and the hope.Mary finds the garden, and finally, she find the dream and the hope, she changed into a kind, positive, brave and beautiful girl.Life is so beautify and colorful like the mazing secret garden, so we must find and plant it the same as Mary plants the seeds, makes things grow and sees them come alive in the secret garden.So if you want your life full of succees, you must have a good attitude and a good character.
On the other hand, opening the secret garden is just like opening the heart that people always closed.In my opinion, there is a secret in everyone’s heart in which there are something like bad memories or sad experience that they do not want other know it.So as a friend, we should find the key to open the door of the secret garden
use our love, our heart and let our friends feel warm and happy, then the heart will full of love.What’s more, we should open the door of our heart to get on well with our surrounding.We should kind to everyone, we should do everything in a happy mood we should do our best to help others.The whole world will be beautify and shining.
And then, the novel tells us the family education is very important for children.It is said that parents are the first teachers for children.Their ways in normal life are teaching their children a lot.Their concept, their love and their care may affect their children’s whole life.Mary has the same problem who is the hero of the Secret Garden.Mary is a tyrannical, selfish and bad-tempered girl at first, it is not her false, she could not has had this tragic result.This result is due to her parents’ poor family education.When Mary was a little child, her parents were only busying outside, they pay le care for Mary, and let her live lonely.She needs more love and care from her parents.If her parents love and care about her much more and always accompany her in her childhood, she will have a lovely childhood and a healthy personality.So, family education is very important for children.They need more love and care from their parents.
At last, the novel tells us nature is also very important for children.A beautiful and flesh nature can make children happily, the growing plants show their hope and power.Children need beautiful things in nature as their friends.To say it honestly, the nature is magic, just as the Secret Garden.The secret garden in the novel provide children a flesh and a hopeful atmosphere, so, Mary, Dickon and Colin are opening their heart when they find the magic in the garden.
In a word, I like this novel very much.It has a happy ending, and the ideas involved in the novel are easy to understand.According to the novel, family education is very important for children, and we should pay more love and attention to them.We also should provide a healthy atmosphere for children.And, we should be hopeful for our life.If getting in a trouble, don’t worry, just do our best, everything will change for a good situation.
