An old man had three sons ,but the brothers were always quarreling.Their father tried to make them good friends ,but he could not .At last he called all his sons to him. He showed them here sticks and said ,”I have something to talk to you about .Take these sticks and tie them tightly together. Then try to break the bundle of sticks.”

The oldest son tried with all his strength ,but he couldn’t .Then the other two did the same ,but neither of them could break them.“Now ,”said the father, ”untie the bundle and each of you take one stick and try to break it.”

Each of them could do it very easily. Then the father said, ”My sons ,when the sticks are bound together ,they are very strong ,and you can’t break them .But when they are untied, you can break each stick easily .If you keep together and help one another ,you will become as strong as the bundle .But if you only quarrel and do not cooperate, you will be as weak as one of the little sticks all by itself.Nothing is more important than cooperation!”

she kindled a third match.again shot up the flame; and now she was sitting under a most beautiful christmas tree ,far larger, and far more prettily decked out, than the one she had seen last christmas eve through the gla doors of the rich merchant\'s house.hundreds of wax-tapers lighted up the green branches, and tiny painted figures, such as she had seen in the shop-windows, looked down from the tree upon her.the child stretched out her hands towards them in delight, and in that moment the lights of the match warm quenched; still, however, the christmas candles burned higher and higher, she beheld them beaming like stars in heaven; one of them fell, the lights streaming behind it like a long, fiery tail.“now some one is dying,” said the little girl, softly, for she had been told by her old grandmother, the only person who had ever been kind to her, and who was now dead that whenever a star falls an immortal spirit returns to the god who gave it.she struck yet another match against the wall; it flamed up, and surrounded by its light, appeared before her that same dear grandmother, gentle and loving as always, but bright and happy as she had never looked during her lifetime.

没有了对手和较量,没有了危机和竞争,任何事物都会因松懈而倦怠,从而走向颓废甚至灭亡——我们的教科书上就是这么写的!” chicken, hunter and other patterns, three children each hold one vice.the rules of the game are: tiger can sweep the deck, but the two hunters killed a tiger; a hunter can kill a wolf, but two wolf can eat a hunter; tigers and wolves have been eliminated, a sheep can eat a dog.he be not a little bewildered, how can there be such a logic? japanese children s answer is: tiger and wolf are gone, the dog will be in a relaxed state, then, not only sheep can eat it, two even death in our textbook -- its written on!

六、周怡雪,19岁,上海 i believe in our future honorable judges, fellow students: good afternoon! recently, ther is a heated debate in our society.the college students are the beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education at extraordinary places.but will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against all odds? will we be able to better the lives of others? will we be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of our country? the cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation.but again, the cynics are wrong.we care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth.last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer. as college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives.we all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country.i believe in all my fellow clamates.though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish.i believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities.we are preparing to aume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to make our world a better place.i believe in our future.

change the ingredients of your life if kindne is added to a strange you will have a friend; but if hostility is added, you will have an enemy.if love is added to a pile of red bricks you will have a home, but if hatred is add to those bricks , you will have an concentration camp. so my dear friend, if faith, hope, love, endurance are added to your life, you will find the confidence to conquer your limitation and embrace new challenges.and hopefully with my speech included, you will have a fantastic speech contest.

六、杨颖,21岁,海南 when two cultures meet, there may be things in one culture, which do not fit into the tradition of the other.when this happens, we need to learn to understand and respect the customs of another culture.then there are certain things some people may not like.to this, i will say, if you do not like it, please try to tolerate it.to learn to tolerate what you personally don’t like is a great virtue at a time when different cultures mix and merge.before us, there are two rivers, eastern and western cultures.at present, they may run in different courses.but eventually, they will converge into the vast sea of human culture. right now, i can see peoples of eastern and western cultures, standing side by side, singing the olympic theme song: we are hand in hand, heart to heart, together we will shape a beautiful tomorrow! thank you!

At present, a wide vareity of credit cards iued by major banks and shopping malls are thriving in colleges and universities acrothe nation, with a multitude of college students ma-ki-ng up a growing population of card holders.Indeed, one out of five students is estimated to be in poeion of at least one credit card, and the figure is expected to be on the steady increse, the latest data published by Yangtze Evening Post suggests。

Like anything prior to the emergence of this small piece of plastic, the increasing popularity of credit card on campus has both bright and dark sides. On the one hand, young adults in college, free from the trouble of pocketing a considerable sum of cash, could enjoy the convenience of credit cards and purchase expensive goods by installments.

On the other hand, however, the irresponsible and exceive use of the cards by these youngsters, the majority of whom are fresh out of middle school incapable of budgeting their money, can make them heavily in debt which will take them years to pay off。

On my personal level, while enjoying a host of conveniences the credit card may bring, we couldn‘t afford to ignore a conspicious fact: in most cases, parents are our sole financial of spending without any restrict, we are supposed to put studies on the top of our agenda and move ourselves beyond heavy dependence upon our parents。
