In the ruins of the Old Coventry Cathedral is a sculpture of a man and a woman reaching out to embrace each other.The sculptor was inspired by the story of a woman who croed Europe on foot after the war to find her husband.在考文垂大教堂的废墟遗址上，有一组雕像，一个男人和一个女人伸手在拥抱彼此。这组雕像的灵感来源于一个故事，一个女人在一战后徒步横穿欧洲来寻找他的丈夫。 Casts of the same sculpture is simply called Reconciliation.相同的雕像被简单地称为“和解”。

In 1914, many people thought the war would be over by Christmas, but sadly by then the trenches were dug and the future shape of the war in Europe was set.1914年，许多人以为战争会在圣诞节结束，但令人悲哀的是，那时候，战壕已经挖好了，未来欧洲的形势已成定局。

A role model of reconciliation and forgivene, he stretched out his hands in love, acceptance and healing.Christ’s example has taught me to seek to respect and value all people, of whatever faith or none.耶稣•基督是和解和宽恕的典范，他伸出仁爱、接纳和拯救之手。他教会我们，无论人们是否信仰基督教，我们都要尊重并看到他们的价值。
Sometimes it seems that reconciliation stands little chance in the face of war and discord.But, as the Christmas truce a century ago reminds us, peace and goodwill have lasting power in the hearts of men and women.面对战争和*，仿佛很少有机会和解。但是，一百年前的圣诞休战提醒我们，和平和善良在人人心中有着持久的力量。
That carol is still much-loved today, a legacy of the Christmas truce, and a reminder to us all that even in the unlikeliest of places hope can still be found.《平安夜》这首歌今天仍然深受喜爱，它是圣诞休战的遗产，提醒着我们，即使在最不可能的地方仍然会有希望在。
