But for whatever reasons, many friends have become distant from me and some even are giving me the cold-shoulder treatment.

Your letter makes me feel very bad not because of your situation but on how you feel.你说是因为同学嫉妒你。
You are saying it is because clamates are jealous of you.

If a person always uses his own strengths to compare with others’ shortcomings, then not only that he would stop progreing, but he would also be very isolated and lonesome.
