The 2004 Olympic Games were held in Athens in August and last 17 days.The Games were wateched by four billions of people all over the world.This was the biggest number of people ever to watch a sports event.More than 11,000 sportsman and sportswomen from 202 countries took part in the Games, with a large number of sportswomen than ever before.
The largest number of medals was win by America, with 35 gold medals.
When the chinese Olympic sportsmen and sportswomen returned back to China after the Games, many peopl came to see they at the airport.They were very proud of their heros.The sportsmen and sportswomen were also vey proud.
“My country, I love you!” said Liu Xiang, the winer of the hurdling gold medal.
Moving out, moving back
In the country all over the world, people are leaving the countryside in huge numbers to find jobs in the cities .They leave because the countryside is more poorer than the city, and often there isn’t much work there.Services such as hospitals and transport is usually much good in ciites than they are in the country.They hope that their lives will improver when they move to the city.
But in the big cities of Europe and America----London, Paris, New York, people are moving out of the city.These are usually families who have some money, and want to live a quieter life.They are tiring of the noise and the dirt of the city, tired of the crowded streets, crowded train and buses.They don’t want to sit in traffic any more.They want a house with a garden, and cleaning air that isn’t polluted.
