Dear children, please tell me aloud: are you happy? Dear children, in our eyes you are as sweet as angels, and it is happy to accompany angels, so you

THE PRESIDENT: Hello, everybody! Thank you.Thank you.Thank you, everybody. All right, everybody go ahead and have a seat. How is everybody doing today? (Applause.) How about Tim Spicer? (Applause.) I am here with students at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. And we\'ve got students tuning in from all acro America, from kindergarten through 12th grade. And I am just so glad that all could join us today. And I want to thank Wakefield for being such an outstanding host.Give yourselves a big round of applause.(Applause.)

I know that for many of you, today is the first day of school. And for those of you in kindergarten, or starting middle or high school, it\'s your first day in a new school, so it\'s understandable if you\'re a little nervous.I imagine there are some seniors out there who are feeling pretty good right now -- (applause) -- with just one more year to go.And no matter what grade you\'re in, some of you are probably wishing it were still summer and you could\'ve stayed in bed just a little bit longer this morning.

I know that feeling. When I was young, my family lived overseas.I lived in Indonesia for a few years. And my mother, she didn\'t have the money to send me where all the American kids went to school, but she thought it was important for me to keep up with an American education. So she decided to teach me extra leons herself, Monday through Friday. But because she had to go to work, the only time she could do it was at 4:30 in the morning.

Now, as you might imagine, I wasn\'t too happy about getting up that early. And a lot of times, I\'d fall asleep right there at the kitchen table. But whenever I\'d complain, my mother would just give me one of those looks and she\'d say, \"This is no picnic for me either, buster.\" (Laughter.)

So I know that some of you are still adjusting to being back at school. But I\'m here today because I have something important to discu with you.I\'m here because I want to talk with you about your education and what\'s expected of all of you in this new school year.

Now, I\'ve given a lot of speeches about education. And I\'ve talked about responsibility a lot.

I\'ve talked about teachers\' responsibility for inspiring students and pushing you to learn.

I\'ve talked about your parents\' responsibility for making sure you stay on track, and you get your homework done, and don\'t spend every waking hour in front of the TV or with the Xbox.

I\'ve talked a lot about your government\'s responsibility for setting high standards, and supporting teachers and principals, and turning around schools that aren\'t working, where students aren\'t getting the opportunities that they deserve.

But at the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, the best schools in the world -- and none of it will make a difference, none of it will matter unle all of you fulfill your responsibilities, unle you show up to those schools, unle you pay attention to those teachers, unle you listen to your parents and grandparents and other adults and put in the hard work it takes to succeed.That\'s what I want to focus on today: the responsibility each of you has for your education.

I want to start with the responsibility you have to yourself.Every single one of you has something that you\'re good at.Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is.That\'s the opportunity an education can provide.

Maybe you could be a great writer -- maybe even good enough to write a book or articles in a newspaper -- but you might not know it until you write that English paper -- that English cla paper that\'s aigned to you.Maybe you could be an innovator or an inventor -- maybe even good enough to come up with the next iPhone or the new medicine or vaccine -- but you might not know it until you do your project for your science cla.Maybe you could be a mayor or a senator or a Supreme Court justice -- but you might not know that until you join student government or the debate team.

And no matter what you want to do with your life, I guarantee that you\'ll need an education to do it.You want to be a doctor, or a teacher, or a police officer? You want to be a nurse or an architect, a lawyer or a member of our military? You\'re going to need a good education for every single one of those careers. You cannot drop out of school and just drop into a good job.You\'ve got to train for it and work for it and learn for it.

And this isn\'t just important for your own life and your own future. What you make of your education will decide nothing le than the future of this country. The future of America depends on you. What you\'re learning in school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future.

You\'ll need the knowledge and problem-solving skills you learn in science and math to cure diseases like cancer and AIDS, and to develop new energy technologies and protect our environment.You\'ll need the insights and critical-thinking skills you gain in history and social studies to fight poverty and homelene, crime and discrimination, and make our nation more fair and more free.You\'ll need the creativity and ingenuity you develop in all your claes to build new companies that will create new jobs and boost our economy.

We need every single one of you to develop your talents and your skills and your intellect so you can help us old folks solve our most difficult problems. If you don\'t do that -- if you quit on school -- you\'re not just quitting on yourself, you\'re quitting on your country.

Now, I know it\'s not always easy to do well in school.I know a lot of you have challenges in your lives right now that can make it hard to focus on your schoolwork.

I get it.I know what it\'s like.My father left my family when I was two years old, and I was raised by a single mom who had to work and who struggled at times to pay the bills and wasn\'t always able to give us the things that other kids had. There were times when I mied having a father in my life. There were times when I was lonely and I felt like I didn\'t fit in.

So I wasn\'t always as focused as I should have been on school, and I did some things I\'m not proud of, and I got in more trouble than I should have. And my life could have easily taken a turn for the worse.

But I was -- I was lucky.I got a lot of second chances, and I had the opportunity to go to college and law school and follow my dreams. My wife, our First Lady Michelle Obama, she has a similar story.Neither of her parents had gone to college, and they didn\'t have a lot of money. But they worked hard, and she worked hard, so that she could go to the best schools in this country.

Some of you might not have those advantages.Maybe you don\'t have adults in your life who give you the support that you need.Maybe someone in your family has lost their job and there\'s not enough money to go around.Maybe you live in a neighborhood where you don\'t feel safe, or have friends who are preuring you to do things you know aren\'t right.

But at the end of the day, the circumstances of your life -- what you look like, where you come from, how much money you have, what you\'ve got going on at home -- none of that is an excuse for neglecting your homework or having a bad attitude in school.That\'s no excuse for talking back to your teacher, or cutting cla, or dropping out of school. There is no excuse for not trying.

Where you are right now doesn\'t have to determine where you\'ll end up.No one\'s written your destiny for you, because here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future.

That\'s what young people like you are doing every day, all acro America.

Young people like Jazmin Perez, from Roma, Texas.Jazmin didn\'t speak English when she first started school.Neither of her parents had gone to college. But she worked hard, earned good grades, and got a scholarship to Brown University -- is now in graduate school, studying public health, on her way to becoming Dr.Jazmin Perez.

I\'m thinking about Andoni Schultz, from Los Altos, California, who\'s fought brain cancer since he was three.He\'s had to endure all sorts of treatments and surgeries, one of which affected his memory, so it took him much longer -- hundreds of extra hours -- to do his schoolwork. But he never fell behind.He\'s headed to college this fall.

And then there\'s Shantell Steve, from my hometown of Chicago, Illinois.Even when bouncing from foster home to foster home in the toughest neighborhoods in the city, she managed to get a job at a local health care center, start a program to keep young people out of gangs, and she\'s on track to graduate high school with honors and go on to college.

And Jazmin, Andoni, and Shantell aren\'t any different from any of you. They face challenges in their lives just like you do.In some cases they\'ve got it a lot worse off than many of you.But they refused to give up.They chose to take responsibility for their lives, for their education, and set goals for themselves. And I expect all of you to do the same.

That\'s why today I\'m calling on each of you to set your own goals for your education -- and do everything you can to meet them.Your goal can be something as simple as doing all your homework, paying attention in cla, or spending some time each day reading a book.Maybe you\'ll decide to get involved in an extracurricular activity, or volunteer in your community.Maybe you\'ll decide to stand up for kids who are being teased or bullied because of who they are or how they look, because you believe, like I do, that all young people deserve a safe environment to study and learn.Maybe you\'ll decide to take better care of yourself so you can be more ready to learn. And along those lines, by the way, I hope all of you are washing your hands a lot, and that you stay home from school when you don\'t feel well, so we can keep people from getting the flu this fall and winter.

But whatever you resolve to do, I want you to commit to it.I want you to really work at it.

I know that sometimes you get that sense from TV that you can be rich and succeful without any hard work -- that your ticket to succe is through rapping or basketball or being a reality TV star.Chances are you\'re not going to be any of those things.

The truth is, being succeful is hard. You won\'t love every subject that you study. You won\'t click with every teacher that you have. Not every homework aignment will seem completely relevant to your life right at this minute. And you won\'t necearily succeed at everything the first time you try.

That\'s okay. Some of the most succeful people in the world are the ones who\'ve had the most failures.J.K.Rowling\'s -- who wrote Harry Potter -- her first Harry Potter book was rejected 12 times before it was finally published.Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team.He lost hundreds of games and mied thousands of shots during his career. But he once said, \"I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that\'s why I succeed.\"

These people succeeded because they understood that you can\'t let your failures define you -- you have to let your failures teach you.You have to let them show you what to do differently the next time.So if you get into trouble, that doesn\'t mean you\'re a troublemaker, it means you need to try harder to act right. If you get a bad grade, that doesn\'t mean you\'re stupid, it just means you need to spend more time studying.

No one\'s born being good at all things. You become good at things through hard work.You\'re not a varsity athlete the first time you play a new sport. You don\'t hit every note the first time you sing a song.You\'ve got to practice. The same principle applies to your schoolwork. You might have to do a math problem a few times before you get it right. You might have to read something a few times before you understand it.You definitely have to do a few drafts of a paper before it\'s good enough to hand in.

Don\'t be afraid to ask questions.Don\'t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.I do that every day.Asking for help isn\'t a sign of weakne, it\'s a sign of strength because it shows you have the courage to admit when you don\'t know something, and that then allows you to learn something new.So find an adult that you trust -- a parent, a grandparent or teacher, a coach or a counselor -- and ask them to help you stay on track to meet your goals.

And even when you\'re struggling, even when you\'re discouraged, and you feel like other people have given up on you, don\'t ever give up on yourself, because when you give up on yourself, you give up on your country.

The story of America isn\'t about people who quit when things got tough.It\'s about people who kept going, who tried harder, who loved their country too much to do anything le than their best.

It\'s the story of students who sat where you sit 250 years ago, and went on to wage a revolution and they founded this nation.Young people.Students who sat where you sit 75 years ago who overcame a Depreion and won a world war; who fought for civil rights and put a man on the moon.Students who sat where you sit 20 years ago who founded Google and Twitter and Facebook and changed the way we communicate with each other.

So today, I want to ask all of you, what\'s your contribution going to be? What problems are you going to solve? What discoveries will you make? What will a President who comes here in 20 or 50 or 100 years say about what all of you did for this country?

Now, your families, your teachers, and I are doing everything we can to make sure you have the education you need to answer these questions.I\'m working hard to fix up your clarooms and get you the books and the equipment and the computers you need to learn. But you\'ve got to do your part, too.So I expect all of you to get serious this year.I expect you to put your best effort into everything you do.I expect great things from each of you.So don\'t let us down.Don\'t let your family down or your country down. Most of all, don\'t let yourself down.Make us all proud.

Thank you very much, everybody.God ble you.God ble America.Thank you.(Applause.)

china launched its National Day celebrations yesterday by streing its hosting of the Beijing Olympics and the country\'s first spacewalk, two hard-won succees in a tumultuous year featured by natural disasters, ethnic unrest, and another food safety scandal.

The spacewalk on Saturday strengthened a wave of Chinese pride and patriotism springing from the Olympics, which is still a big news story in the domestic pre one month after it came to an end.China\'s Olympic heroes were honored in a three-hour ceremony at the Great Hall of the People that was broadcast live on national television.

State broadcaster CCTV showed the three returning astronauts, with flower garlands around their necks, waving and smiling as they were treated to a homecoming parade in Beijing.Their miion, including China\'s first spacewalk, put the country closer to building a space station and landing a man on the moon.

Meanwhile, Vice President Xi, who oversaw preparations for the Beijing Summer Games, praised what he said was China\'s realization of a 100-year dream to host the event and said it would keep China on its reform path.

\"The succeful holding of the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics has carried forward the Olympic spirit, improved the understanding and friendship betweenthe world , and it also demonstrates the great achievements of reform and opening and the building of socialist modernization.\"

But Premier Wen Jiabao touched briefly on some of the country\'s troubles so far this year during an addre at a dinner banquet that included many foreign dignitaries.

\"We prevailed over the disasters caused by the heavy snow and sleet storms and the devastating Wenchuan earthquake,\" he said, referring to a freak storm just before February\'s Lunar New Year that left scores dead and hundreds of thousands stranded during the country\'s busiest travel period.

A magnitude 7.9 earthquake in May left nearly 90,000 people dead or miing.

\"We still face many difficulties and problems in our endeavor to advance socialist modernization but we have full confidence to conquer them,\" he said.

The 59th anniversary of the founding of the People\'s Republic of China is tomorrow. This year also marks 30 years since China initiated the economic reforms that turned the country into the world\'s factory floor and transformed all of its major cities.

Economic development has been slower to reach far-flung regions like Tibet, where simmering ethnic tensions boiled over in March.Anti-government riots erupted in the capital of Lhasa,

sparking sympathy protests in Tibetan areas acro western China.however, china can respond to these chanllenges positively, and at last we are convinced that our govenment can lead us into a more promising future.

Australia through My Eyes

When referring to Australia, I am always impreed by its charisma. From the great barrier reef to the vast desert, from the thick forests to the boundle plains, Australia boasts picturesque scenery and abundant natural resources. However, what strike me most are its complicated population map and its diversified culture.Australia is one of the developed countries that embraced and is now continuing opening her arms to many immigrants, who are incorporated into a both culturally rich and economically prosperous society. These immigrants’ multifaceted backgrounds contribute to the country’s cultural diversity. Thanks to the adoption of multicultural policies in Australia Since 1980s, Australia has gradually grown into a harmonious community. As the core value, cultural diversity has witneed its burgeon and boom in Australia. The diversity is the most precious national wealth. As a result, it is supported and encouraged by all the previous governments.People from different cultural backgrounds bring various languages and customs to Australia, which adds to Australia’s overall strength in facing challenges of globalization. It is with this readine and open-mindedne that Australia is now heading for a more promising future.

It is not an easy thing for a government to have its people live without any conflicts. So the multicultural policy, while encouraging the realization of individual value, prioritizes national interests. So when peoples’ interests are in contradiction with national interests, the fromer should give way to the latter.Furthermore, the iue of the nationality still plays an important part under the current circumstances. At any rate, people worldwide are arriving at an agreement that cultural diversity should be maintained, transmitted, and developed.Albeit different historical backgrounds, cultural and social systems between China and Australia, and thus discrepancies in national situations and national policies, China and Australia still share a lot in common in terms of principles and methods of dealing with domestic and international iues.As a result, both countries can share their experiences and expertise in dealing with the ethnical iues. For instance, the idea of coexistence characterized by mutual understanding and mutual tolerance is in confromity with the thought of harmony despite difference in China.

As the anthem of Australia sings, “With courage let us all combine to Advance Australia Fair.” with high freedom, fresh mentality, adventurous entrepreneurship and great ambition, Australia is now striding towards a higher civilization.

The Impact of the Computer on Writing Ability

As we can see, from left to right, there is a brush, a pen and a computer in the picture, which indicates the development of the way people write with.Under eachone of them Chinese characters meaning “handwriting”.Obviously, the two characters under the computer are not as beautiful as the rest ones, which implies that with the popularity of computer people’s writing ability has deteriorated.

This picture brings us the question whether we are going forward or backward after the popularity of computer. There is no doubt that our life has become much easier owing to the conveniences computer has brought, However, people have depended so much on computer that they can hardly do things wewll without it, which result in the degeneration in some abilities, such as writing ability and communication ability,In this sense, computer has made go backward.

Alarmed by the iue reflected in the picture, we should do something to prevent ourselves from the side of computer. As far as I am concerned,we should limit the time we spend on computer and try to develop as many habits as poible in spare time .

>01 The Language of Music

A painter hangs his or her finished picture on a wall, and everyone can see it.A composer writes a work, but no one can hear it until it is performed.Profeional singers and players have great responsibilities, for the composer is utterly dependent on them.

A student of music needs as long and as arduous a training to become a performer as a medical student needs to become a doctor. Most training is concerned with technique, for musicians have to have the muscular proficiency of an athlete or a ballet dancer.Singers practice breathing every day, as their vocal chords would be inadequate without controlled muscular support.String players practice moving the fingers of the left hand up and down, while drawing the bow to and fro with the right arm -- two entirely different movements.Singers and instrumentalists have to be able to get every note perfectly in tune.Pianists are spared this particular anxiety, for the notes are already there, waiting for them, and it is the piano tuner\'s responsibility to tune the instrument for them. But they have their own difficulties: the hammers that hit the strings have to be coaxed not to sound like percuion, and each overlapping tone has to sound clear.

This problem of getting clear texture is one that confronts student conductors: they have to learn to know every note of the music and how it should sound, and they have to aim at controlling these sounds with fanatical butselfle authority.Technique is of no use unle it is combined with musical knowledge and understanding.

Great artists are those who are so thoroughly at home in the language of music that they can enjoy performing works writtenin any entury.

>02 Schooling and Education

It is commonly believed in the United States that school is where people go to get an education.Neverthele, it has been said that today children interrupt their education to go to school. The distinction between schooling and education implied by this remark is important.Education is much more open-ended and all-inclusive than schooling.Education knows no bounds. It can take place anywhere, whether in the shower or in the job, whether in a kitchen or on a tractor. It includes both the formal learning that takes place in schools and the whole universe of informal learning. The agents of education can range from a revered grandparent to the people debating politics on the radio, from a child to a distinguished scientist.Whereas schooling has a certain predictability, education quite often produces surprises.A chance conversation with a stranger may lead a person to discover how little is known of other religions.People are engaged ineducation from infancy on.Education, then, is a very broad, inclusive term.It is a lifelong proce, a procethat starts long before the start of school, and one that should be an integral part of one\'s entire life.Schooling, on the other hand, is a specific, formalized proce, whose general pattern varies little from one setting to the next.

Throughout a country, children arrive at school at approximately the same time, take aigned seats, are taught by an adult, use similar textbooks, do homework, take exams, and so on.The slices of realitythat are to be learned, whether they are the alphabet or an understanding of the workings of government, have usually been limited by the boundaries of the subject being taught. For example, high school students know thatthey are not likely to find out in their claes the truth about political problems

in their communities or what the newest filmmakers are experimenting with. There are definite conditions surrounding the formalized proce of schooling.

>03TheDefinitionof\"Price\"Prices determine how resources are to be used. They are also the means by which products and services that are inlimited supply are rationed among buyers. The price system of the United States is a complex network composed ofthe prices of all the products bought and sold in the economy as well as those of a myriad of services, including labor, profeional, transportation, and public-utility services. The interrelationships of all these prices makeup the\"system\" of prices. The price of any particular product or service is linked to a broad, complicated system of prices in which everything seems to depend more or le upon everythin else.If one were to ask a group of randomly selected individuals to define \"price\", many would reply that price is anamount of money paid by the buyer to the seller of a product or service or,in other words, that price is the money value of a

product or service as agreed upon in a market transaction. This definition is, of course, valid as far as it goes. For a complete understanding of a price in any particular transaction, much more than the amount of money involved must be known. Both the buyer and the seller should be familiar with not only the money amount, but with the amount and quality of the product or service to be exchanged, the time and place at which the exchange will take place and payment will be made, the form of money to be used, the credit terms and discounts that apply to the transaction, guarantees on the product or service, delivery terms, return privileges, and other factors.Inother words, both buyer and seller should be fully aware of all the factors that comprise the total \"package\" being exchanged for the asked-for amount of money in order that they may evaluate a given price.

>04 Electricity

The modern age is an age of electricity.People are so used to electric lights, radio, televisions, and telephones that it is hard to imagine what life would be like without them. When there is a power failure, people grope about in flickering candlelight, cars hesitate in the streets because there are no traffic lights to guide them, and food spoils in silent Refrigerators.Yet, people began to understand how electricity works only a little more than two centuries ago.Nature hasapparently been experimenting in this field for millions of years.Scientists are discovering more and more that the living world may hold many interesting secrets of electricity that could benefit humanity. All living cells send out tiny pulses of electricity. As the heart beats, it sends out pulses of record; they form an electrocardiogram, which a doctor can study to determine how well the heart is working. The brain, too, sends out brain waves of electricity, which can be recorded in an electroencephalogram. The electric currents generated by most living cells are extremely small -- often so small that sensitive instruments are needed to record them. But in some animals, certain muscle cells have become so specialized as electrical generators that they do not work as muscle cells at all. When large numbers of these cells are linked together, the effects can be astonishing. The electric eel is an amazing storage battery. It can send a jolt of as much as eight hundred volts of electricity through the water in which it lives.(An electric house current is only one hundred twenty volts.) As many as four-fifths of all the cells in the electric eel\'s body are specialized for generating electricity, and the strength of the shock it can deliver corresponds roughly to the length of its body.

>05 The Beginning of Drama

There are many theories about the beginning of drama in ancient Greece. The one most widely accepted today is based on the aumption that drama evolved from ritual. The argument for this view goes as follows. In the beginning, human beings viewed the natural forces of the worldas unpredictable, and they sought through various means to control these unknown and feared powers. Those measures which appeared to bring the desired results were then retained and repeated until they hardened into fixed rituals.Eventually stories arose which explained or veiled the mysteries of the rites. As time paed some rituals were abandoned, but the stories, later called myths, persisted and provided material for art and drama. Those who believe that drama evolved out of ritual also argue that those rites contained the seed of theaterbecause music, dance, masks, and costumes were almost always used.Furthermore, a suitable site had to be provided for performances and when the entire community did not participate, a clear division was usually made between the \"acting area\" and the\"auditorium.\" In addition, there were performers, and, since considerable importance was attached to avoiding mistakes in the enactment of rites, religious leaders usually aumed that task.Wearing masks and costumes, they often impersonated other people, animals, or supernatural beings, and mimed the desired effect-- succe in hunt or battle, the coming rain, the revival of the Sun -- as an actor might.Eventually such dramatic representations were separated from religious activities.

Another theory traces the theater\'s origin from the human interest in storytelling.According to this view tales (about the hunt, war, or other feats) are gradually elaborated, at first through the use of impersonation, action, and dialogue by a narrator and then through the aumption of each of the roles by a different person.A closely related theory traces theater to those dances that are primarily rhythmical and gymnastic or that are imitations of animal movements and sounds.

This year summer vacation, I read the American well-known writer Hemingway\'s novel \" old person and sea \".I extremely admire in the novel the senior fisherman\'s will, he let me understand one person certainly must have relentle spirit, only then could obtain succefully.

The novel description is one year near sixty years of age senior fisherman, when alone goes to sea in one fishing, fished one big fish, actually did not pull. The senior fisherman socialized several days after the fish, only then discovered this was the big marlin which one surpaed the oneself fishing boat several fold, although knew perfectly well very difficult to win, but still did not give up.Afterwards and further because in the big marlin wound fish fishy smell brought in several crowds of shark fish snatches the food, but the old person still did not hope like this to give up, finally highlighted encircles tightly, returned to the big fish belt the fishing port, lets other fishermen not admire already.

When I read \" the senior fisherman think: Here to the seacoast really was too near, perhaps could have a bigger fish in a farther place...\" When, I extremely admire this senior fisherman, because he by now already projected on some fish, but he had not settled to the present situation, but was approaches the bigger goal advance.Again has a look us, usually meets one slightly is difficult, we all complain inceantly. We will be the motherland future, will be supposed to like this old person same mind lofty aspiration, will even better pursue even better, the bigger goal.

When I read \" the big marlin start fast to gather round the young fishing boat hover, twined the cable on the mast, the old person right hand lifted up high the steel fork, leapt the water surface in it the flash, did utmost throws to its heart, one wail ended the big fish\'s life, it was static static floats on the water surface...\" When, my heart also liked together the big stone falls.I extremely admire old person that kind do not dread, the relentle spirit, although knows the match strength is very strong, but he not slightly flinches, but is welcomes difficultly above.Just because had this kind of spirit, the senior fisherman only then achieved this life and death contest succe. We also must study senior fisherman\'s spirit in life, handles the matter does not fear the difficulty, only then can obtain succefully.

Was reading the big fish\'s smell of blood is smelled by one crowd of shark fish, struggled swims snatches the food, old person\'s left hand happen to in the convulsions, he only could use the right hand, with wooden stick, the mouth and so on all was allowed to use for the weapon self-defense which attacked, and finally expelled this crowd of shark fish. But the big fish\'s meat was already eaten one most, but the old person also charmingly criticized oneself the left hand \" this work time actually was resting \" time, I also was subdued by the old person optimistic spirit. In the life, some loes are inevitable, we should treat by the optimistic manner, cannot be calculating.

Finally, the novel sees by one youth the senior fisherman fully has 18 foot long big marlin in the measure, once more described this fish\'s hugene, explained senior fisherman overcomes the difficulty was big, non- was more common than.

The novel eulogized the spirit which the senior fisherman fear hard and dangerous diligently did not struggle, we also should like his such, could not satisfy the present situation, should positively to above, do any matter all is relentle, meets difficultly must welcome difficultly above, could give up halfway in no way.Only has this, we only then can obtain a bigger succe and the victory.

4,My comments and some ideas I have already heard of this masterpiece for many years, peope love it,prise it,and respect it.But when I finished it,at the first moment,I just wonder:Actually,Our human-beings don’t know what we really want, what we dream for,and what we fight for. Many people admit and prise this belief that the man is not made for defeat,,a man can be destroyed but not defeated, but what about other creatures in the world,to some extense,in the whole universe? No matter what kind of person we are,or how small or humble we are,it doesn’t matter. What matters most is whether we know what we want to purchase through our life.At finally, what impreed me a lot is that child with great naïve and loveline! The child took the beautiful and bright days back for the old man.We human beings are really a kind of strange creature. We can accept death, but when facing the failure,it will call for all of our strenth and courage. What’s I want to say at the end of this report is that:don’t hesitate any more!Enjoy yourself and your beautiful, even gray days!

An old man sailed on sea for ages, only to bring back a large coloal marlin skeleton,a worn-out boat, and his exhausted body.In Ernest Hemingway’s novel , there is only simple plot, and characters pure as water drops. However, no battle can be more glorious , and no story can be more appealing than it.I firmly refer it to story of hero.

“A man can be destroyed, but he can never be defeated.” The strong notes came out not from the old man’s mouth, but from the bottom of his heart.

Though he doesn’t accomplish his initial goal, he is not a failure. On the contrary, he is remembered as, hero.

Yes, no one can doubt that when he defended for the skeleton of marlin in the billows; When he raised up his powerful arms, grabbing the harpoon when attacked by a troop of sharps; When his profound, sea-like eyes shines the fearle perseverance.

Though I don’t believe in fate, I believe that everything in the world has its limits. When encountering his limits, the old man doesn’t break down.He continues to sail, to fight, to push his boundaries, to challenge with fate and limits.

I realized that our own lives are just like a vast ocean, splendid and miraculous, but dangerous with reefs as well. The waves can push you to an unbelievable climax, but in a blink of eye, it can also take away all your happine without empathy.

So, when it comes to failure, most of us get cold feet conspicuously. As a matter of fact, those who fight with limits are born to be nearer to so-called “failure”.For example, those who have devoted themselves to exploring the mystery of nature invariably end up in vain. Those who are dedicated to reform the society is more likely to be the first sacrifice.Only those comfortably staying in their own limits are constantly succeeding. However, this kind of “succe” only dues to his rival has surrendered long before, or he himself has never engaged in the battle. No applause for this kind of “winning by default”.

After reading this book, I understand that during the course of life, failures only belong to the one that compromise to limits. As long as you haven’t lose heart, you still have faith, you still preserve in fighting against limits till the day your weapon is broken like the old man’s, little by little, inch by inch, you will push the boundaries of hinders forward, and one inch is sure to be a beautiful leap. And that is not how you grow up, but how you stand up on your own.And virtually, that is the way human beings evolve.

Chances are that life gives you little in rewards of your endeavors, and God may leave you with nothing but an empty marlin skeleton. But we ought to set the old man as our model; cling to his is attitude towards life through the changing era.Let’s dance on the wave of life, savor resolute in the gust of wind, and appreciate paion through the waves. For this is what life all about.

Remember, you have become a hero when you fight till the last moment!

Water and life

While we are enjoying the rich fruits of modern industrialization,we are losing something precious on this planet.fresh water, among others,is dwindling down day by day, owing to the large-scale industrialization everywhere in the world.

Just as sunshine is a neceity to lift,so is fresh water.without fresh water, our human society would come to a stop.

As fresh water is such an important resource to the human society that we need to treasure it as we treasure our life, but how to make it?

First of all, our government should have a good plan for the use of fresh water and develop industries that consume le water.Secondly, waste water must be recycled.last but not least, everyone of us should do his bit to save water.

Bad Manners in Public

Bad Manners in Public

Although we consider ourselves as highly advanced beings living in a civilized society, bad manners can still be found here and there. For example, some cyclists run the red traffic lights, many paengers litter waste papers and plastic bags in public places, and some tourists scrabble in tourist attractions, let alone spit on the street. In the cinema, some audience talk loudly on cell phones in front of others.

I’m strongly against talking loudly in the cinema, for this behaviour shows no respect at all to others;what’s worse,it upsets the audience who are in the mood of having fun.

My Opinion om Call Phones

My Opinion om Call Phones

Cell phones do play an important role in people’s daily life, but every coin has two sides.

To start with,a wirele mobile phone is convenient for the user at any time to contact others .Secondly,it’s a helpful companuon. With a multifunctional cell phone in hand, one can easily surf the net, downloading what he needs.

However, the cell phone has many disadvantages. For one thing, the machine itself is very expensive and its local service is very costly, not to mention its global service. For another, the radiation transmitted from the mobile phones might do harm to the user’s health.

In my opinion, with its expenses being reduced sharply, its development will have a brighter future. Therefore its advantages will far outweigh its disadvantages.

My Favorite TV Program

My Favorite TV Program

The News Broadcast is my favorite TV program. This has become a part of my life because almost everyday I turn on the TV at 7:00 p.m.,watching CCTV9news program.

Watching the daily news brings me the following benefits.Firstly,it develops my good language skills, proper pronunciation and greater knowledge and understanding of news around the world.Secondly, watching TV news as a family opens a stage for discuion between family members on a wide variety of topics. What’s more, sharing the news helps kids better understand the world they live in,helps them learn more on different views and on how to act or respond to tough situations if they face it.All in all, watching the news program is informative, communicative and instructive.

Can Money Buy Happine?

Can Money Buy Happine?

Can Money Buy Happine? The answer varies among people. Some believe that money is the source of happine, because money provides food for the hungry, medicine for the sick, and clothes for needly.while others hold that money is the root of evils, because it is the devil of money that drives a person to lie, cheat, steal, and, worst of all,to murder.

In my opinion, money is eential to being well-off,but not necearily to well-being.Happine is a state of mind, not something that can be bought. All in all, happine is le a matter of buying what we want than a wanting what we have.

The Digital Products

The Digital Products

Nowadays, digital products are enjoying growing popularity among people.Take me for example, the first thing I do after waking up is switch on my cell phone to check my texb meages and read the latest news. Then listen to music on my ipod on my way to school. At the end of the day,I enjoy watching TV programs,or surfing the net.

Why are we so fond of those digital products? These two key factors represent the trend of new inventions of modern age that brings in the wide use of digital products.

For Immediate Release September 8, 2009 REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT IN A NATIONAL

ADDRESS

TO

AMERICA\'S SCHOOLCHILDREN Wakefield High School Arlington, Virginia

But whenever I\'d complain, my mother would just give me one of those looks and she\'d say, \"This is no picnic for me either, buster.\" (Laughter.) So I know that some of you are still adjusting to being back at school.

You\'ll need the knowledge and problem-solving skills you learn in science and math to cure diseases like cancer and AIDS, and to develop new energy technologies and protect our environment.

You\'ll

need

the

insights

and critical-thinking skills you gain in history and social studies to fight poverty and homelene, crime and discrimination, and make our nation more fair and more free.You\'ll need the creativity and ingenuity you develop in all your claes to build new companies that will create new jobs and boost our economy.

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you! Hello! (Applause.) Thank you.Thank you.Well, hello, Philadelphia! (Applause.) And hello, Masterman. It is wonderful to see all of you. What a terrific introduction by Kelly.Give Kelly a big round of applause.(Applause.) I was saying backstage that when I was in high school, I could not have done that.(Laughter.) I would have muffed it up somehow. So we are so proud of you and everything that you’ve done. And to all the students here, I’m thrilled to be here.

We’ve got a couple introductions I want to make.First of all, you’ve got the outstanding governor of Pennsylvania, Ed Rendell, in the house.(Applause.) The mayor of Philadelphia, Michael Nutter, is here.(Applause.) Congreman Chaka Fattah is here.(Applause.) Congrewoman Allyson Schwartz is here.(Applause.) Your own principal, Marge Neff, is here.(Applause.) The school superintendent, Arlene Ackerman, is here and doing a great job.(Applause.) And the Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, is here.(Applause.)

And I am here.(Applause.) And I am thrilled to be here.I am just so excited.I’ve heard such great things about what all of you are doing, both the students and the teachers and the staff here.

Today is about welcoming all of you, and all of America’s students, back to school, even though I know you’ve been in school for a little bit now.And I can’t think of a better place to do it than at Masterman.(Applause.) Because you are one of the best schools in Philadelphia. You are a leader in helping students succeed in the claroom.Just last week, you were recognized by a National Blue Ribbon -- as a National Blue Ribbon School because of your record of achievement. And that is a testament to everybody here –- to the students, to the parents, to the teachers, to the school leaders. It’s an example of excellence that I hope communities acro America can embrace.

Over the past few weeks, Michelle and I have been getting Sasha and Malia ready for school. And they’re excited about it.I’ll bet they had the same feelings that you do -- you’re a little sad to see the summer go, but you’re also excited about the poibilities of a new year. The poibilities of building new friendships and strengthening old ones, of joining a school club, or trying out for a team. The poibilities of growing into a better student and a better person and making not just your family proud but making yourself proud.

But I know some of you may also be a little nervous about starting a new school year.Maybe you’re making the jump from elementary to middle school, or from middle school to high school, and you’re worried about what that’s going to be like.Maybe you’re starting a new school. You’re not sure how you’ll like it, trying to figure out how you’re going to fit in.Or maybe you’re a senior, and you’re anxious about the whole college proce; about where to apply and whether you can afford to go to college.

And beyond all those concerns, I know a lot of you are also feeling the strain of some difficult times. You know what’s going on in the news and you also know what’s going on in some of your own families. You’ve read about the war in Afghanistan. You hear about the receion that we’ve been through. And sometimes maybe you’re seeing the worries in your parents’ faces or sense it in their voice.

So a lot of you as a consequence, because we’re going through a tough time a country, are having to act a lot older than you are.You got to be strong for your family while your brother or sister is serving overseas, or you’ve got to look after younger siblings while your mom is working that second shift.Or maybe some of you who are little bit older, you’re taking on a part-time job while your dad’s out of work.

And that’s a lot to handle. It’s more than you should have to handle. And it may make you wonder at times what your own future will look like, whether you’re going to be able to succeed in school, whether you should maybe set your sights a little lower, scale back your dreams.

But I came to Masterman to tell all of you what I think you’re hearing from your principal and your superintendent, and from your parents and your teachers: Nobody gets to write your destiny but you.Your future is in your hands.Your life is what you make of it.And nothing -- absolutely nothing -- is beyond your reach, so long as you’re willing to dream big, so long as you’re willing to work hard.So long as you’re willing to stay focused on your education, there is not a single thing that any of you cannot accomplish, not a single thing.I believe that.

And that last part is absolutely eential, that part about really working hard in school, because an education has never been more important than it is today.I’m sure there are going to be times in the months ahead when you’re staying up late doing your homework or cramming for a test, or you’re dragging yourself out of bed on a rainy morning and you’re thinking, oh, boy, I wish maybe it was a snow day.(Laughter.)

But let me tell you, what you’re doing is worth it.There is nothing more important than what you’re doing right now.Nothing is going to have as great an impact on your succe in life as your education, how you’re doing in school. More and more, the kinds of opportunities that are open to you are going to be determined by how far you go in school. The farther you go in school, the farther you’re going to go in life. And at a time when other countries are competing with us like never before, when students around the world in Beijing, China, or Bangalore, India, are working harder than ever, and doing better than ever, your succe in school is not just going to determine your succe, it’s going to determine America’s succe in the 21st century.

So you’ve got an obligation to yourselves, and America has an obligation to you, to make sure you’re getting the best education poible. And making sure you get that kind of education is going to take all of us working hard and all of us working hand in hand.

It takes all of us in government -- from the governor to the mayor to the superintendent to the President -- all of us doing our part to prepare our students, all of them, for succe in the claroom and in college and in a career. It’s going to take an outstanding principal, like Principal Neff, and outstanding teachers like the ones you have here at Masterman -- teachers who are going above and beyond the call of duty for their students. And it’s going to take parents who are committed to your education.

Now, that’s what we have to do for you. That’s our responsibility. That’s our job.But you’ve got a job, too. You’ve got to show up to school on time. You’ve got to pay attention in your cla. You’ve got to do your homework. You’ve got to study for exams. You’ve got to stay out of trouble. You’ve got to instill a sense of excellence in everything that you do.That kind of discipline, that kind of drive, that kind of hard work, is absolutely eential for succe.

And I can speak from experience here because unlike Kelly, I can’t say I always had this discipline.See, I can tell she was always disciplined.I wasn’t always disciplined.I wasn’t always the best student when I was younger.I made my share of mistakes.I still remember a conversation I had with my mother in high school.I was kind of a goof-off.And I was about the age of some of the folks here. And my grades were slipping.I hadn’t started my college applications.I was acting, as my mother put it, sort of casual about my future.I was doing good enough.I was smart enough that I could kind of get by.But I wasn’t really applying myself.

And so I suspect this is a conversation that will sound familiar to some students and some parents here today. She decided to sit me down and said I had to change my attitude. My attitude was what I imagine every teenager’s attitude is when your parents have a conversation with you like that.I was like, you know, I don’t need to hear all this.I’m doing okay, I’m not flunking out.

So I started to say that, and she just cut me right off.She said, you can’t just sit around waiting for luck to see you through. She said, you can get into any school you want in the country if you just put in a little bit of effort. She gave me a hard look and she said, you remember what that’s like? Effort? (Laughter.) Some of you have had that conversation.(Laughter.) And it was pretty jolting hearing my mother say that. But eventually her words had the intended effect, because I got serious about my studies. And I started to make an effort in everything that I did.And I began to see my grades and my prospects improve.

And I know that if hard work could make the difference for me, then it can make a difference for all of you.And I know that there may be some people who are skeptical about that.Sometimes you may wonder if some people just aren’t better at certain things. You know, well, I’m not good at math or I’m just not really interested in my science claes.

And it is true that we each have our own gifts, we each have our own talents that we have to discover and nurture. Not everybody is going to catch on in certain subjects as easily as others.

But just because you’re not the best at something today doesn’t mean you can’t be tomorrow.Even if you don’t think of yourself as a math person or a science person, you can still excel in those subjects if you’re willing to make the effort. And you may find out you have talents you never dreamed of.

Because one of the things I’ve discovered is excelling -- whether it’s in school or in life -- isn’t mainly about being smarter than everybody else. That’s not really the secret to succe. It’s about working harder than everybody else.So don’t avoid new challenges -- seek them out, step out of your comfort zone, don’t be afraid to ask for help.Your teachers and family are there to guide you. They want to know if you’re not catching on to something because they know that if you keep on working at it, you’re going to catch on.

Don’t feel discouraged; don’t give up if you don’t succeed at something the first time.Try again, and learn from your mistakes.Don’t feel threatened if your friends are doing well; be proud of them, and see what leons you can draw from what they’re doing right.

Now, I’m sort of preaching to the choir here because I know that’s the kind of culture of excellence that you promote at Masterman. But I’m not just speaking to all of you, I’m speaking to kids all acro the country. And I want them to all here that same meage: That’s the kind of excellence we’ve got to promote in all of America’s schools.

That’s one of the reasons why I’m announcing our second Commencement Challenge. Some of you may have heard of this.If your school is the winner, if you show us how teachers and students and parents are all working together to prepare your kids and your school for college and a career, if you show us how you’re giving back to your community and your country, then I will congratulate you in person by speaking at your commencement.

Last year I was in Michigan at Kalamazoo and had just a wonderful time.Although I got to admit, their graduating cla was about 700 kids and my hands were really sore at the end of it because I was shaking all of them.(Laughter.)

But the truth is, an education is about more than getting into a good college. It’s about more than getting a good job when you graduate. It’s about giving each and every one of us the chance to fulfill our promise, and to be the best version of ourselves we can be.And part of that means treating others the way we want to be treated -- with kindne and respect. So that’s something else that I want to communicate to students not just here at Masterman but all acro the country.

Sometimes kids can be mean to other kids.Let’s face it.We don’t always treat each other with respect and kindne. That’s true for adults as well, by the way.

And sometimes that’s especially true in middle school or high school, because being a teenager isn’t easy. It’s a time when you’re wrestling with a lot of things. When I was in my teens, I was wrestling with all sorts of questions about who I was.I had a white mother and a black father, and my father wasn’t around; he had left when I was two.And so there were all kinds of iues that I was dealing with. Some of you may be working through your own questions right now and coming to terms with what makes you different. And I know that figuring out all of that can be even more difficult when you’ve got bullies in a cla who try to use those differences to pick on you or poke fun at you, to make you feel bad about yourself.

And in some places, the problem is even more serious. There are neighborhoods in my hometown of Chicago, and there are neighborhoods right here in Philadelphia where kids are doing each other serious harm.

So, what I want to say to every kid, every young person -- what I want all of you -- if you take away one thing from my speech, I want you to take away the notion that life is precious, and part of what makes it so wonderful is its diversity, that all of us are different. And we shouldn’t be embarraed by the things that make us different. We should be proud of them, because it’s the thing that makes us different that makes us who we are, that makes us unique. And the strength and character of this country has always come from our ability to recognize -- no matter who we are, no matter where we come from, no matter what we look like, no matter what abilities we have -- to recognize ourselves in each other.

I was reminded of that idea the other day when I read a letter from Tamerria Robinson. She’s a 12-year-old girl in Georgia. And she told me about how hard she works and about all the community service she does with her brother. And she wrote, “I try to achieve my dreams and help others do the same.” “That,” she said, “is how the world should work.” That’s a pretty good motto.I work hard to achieve my goals and then I try to help others to achieve their goals.

And I agree with Tamerria. That’s how the world should work. But it’s only going to work that way if all of you get in good habits while you’re in school. So, yes, each of us need to work hard.We all have to take responsibilities for our own education. We need to take responsibility for our own lives. But what makes us who we are is that here, in this country, in the United States of America, we don’t just reach for our own dreams, we try to help others do the same. This is a country that gives all its daughters and all of its sons a fair chance, a chance to make the most of their lives and fulfill their God-given potential.

And I’m absolutely confident that if all of our students -- here at Masterman and acro this country -- keep doing their part, if you guys work hard and you’re focused on your education, you keep fighting for your dreams and then you help each other reach each other’s dreams, then you’re not only going to succeed this year, you’re going to succeed for the rest of your lives. And that means America will succeed in the 21st century.

So my main meage to all of you here today: I couldn’t be prouder of you.Keep it up.All of you I know are going to do great things in the future. And maybe some time in the 21st century, it’s going to be one of you that’s standing up here speaking to a group of kids as President of the United States.

Thank you.God ble you, and God ble the United States of America.Thank you.(Applause.)

Hello, everybody! And I want to thank Wakefield for being such an outstanding host.Give yourselves a big round of applause.(Applause.) I know that for many of you, today is the first day of school. And for those of you in kindergarten, or starting middle or high school, it\'s your first day in a new school, so it\'s understandable if you\'re a little nervous.I imagine there are some seniors out there who are feeling pretty good right now -- (applause) -- with just one more year to go.And no matter what grade you\'re in, some of you are probably wishing it were still summer and you could\'ve stayed in bed just a little bit longer this morning.I know that feeling. But whenever I\'d complain, my mother would just give me one of those looks and she\'d say, \"This is no picnic for me either, buster.\" (Laughter.) So I know that some of you are still adjusting to being back at school. But I\'m here today because I have something important to discu with you.I\'m here because I want to talk with you about your education and what\'s expected of all of you in this new school year. Now, I\'ve given a lot of speeches about education. And I\'ve talked about responsibility a lot.I\'ve talked about teachers\' responsibility for inspiring students and pushing you to learn.I\'ve talked about your parents\' responsibility for making sure you stay on track, and you get your homework done, and don\'t spend every waking hour in front of the TV or with the Xbox.I\'ve talked a lot about your government\'s responsibility for setting high standards, and supporting teachers and principals, and turning around schools that aren\'t working, where students aren\'t getting the opportunities that they deserve. But at the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, the best schools in the world -- and none of it will make a difference, none of it will matter unle all of you fulfill your responsibilities, unle you show up to those schools, unle you pay attention to those teachers, unle you listen to your parents and grandparents and other adults and put in the hard work it takes to succeed.That\'s what I want to focus on today: the responsibility each of you has for your education.I want to start with the responsibility you have to yourself.Every single one of you has something that you\'re good at.Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is.That\'s the opportunity an education can provide.Maybe you could be a great writer -- maybe even good enough to write a book or articles in a newspaper -- but you might not know it until you write that English paper -- that English cla paper that\'s aigned to you.Maybe you could be an innovator or an inventor -- maybe even good enough to come up with the next iPhone or the new medicine or vaccine -- but you might not know it until you do your project for your science cla.Maybe you could be a mayor or a senator or a Supreme Court justice -- but you might not know that until you join student government or the debate team. And no matter what you want to do with your life, I guarantee that you\'ll need an education to do it.You want to be a doctor, or a teacher, or a police officer? You want to be a nurse or an architect, a lawyer or a member of our military? You\'re going to need a good education for every single one of those careers. You cannot drop out of school and just drop into a good job.You\'ve got to train for it and work for it and learn for it.And this isn\'t just important for your own life and your own future. What you make of your education will decide nothing le than the future of this country. The future of America depends on you. What you\'re learning in school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future.You\'ll need the knowledge and problem-solving skills you learn in science and math to cure diseases like cancer and AIDS, and to develop new energy technologies and protect our environment.You\'ll need the insights and critical-thinking skills you gain in history and social studies to fight poverty and homelene, crime and discrimination, and make our nation more fair and more free.You\'ll need the creativity and ingenuity you develop in all your claes to build new companies that will create new jobs and boost our economy. We need every single one of you to develop your talents and your skills and your intellect so you can help us old folks solve our most difficult problems. If you don\'t do that -- if you quit on school -- you\'re not just quitting on yourself, you\'re quitting on your country. Now, I know it\'s not always easy to do well in school.I know a lot of you have challenges in your lives right now that can make it hard to focus on your schoolwork.I get it.I know what it\'s like.My father left my family when I was two years old, and I was raised by a single mom who had to work and who struggled at times to pay the bills and wasn\'t always able to give us the things that other kids had. There were times when I mied having a father in my life. There were times when I was lonely and I felt like I didn\'t fit in.So I wasn\'t always as focused as I should have been on school, and I did some things I\'m not proud of, and I got in more trouble than I should have. There is no excuse for not trying.Where you are right now doesn\'t have to determine where you\'ll end up.No one\'s written your destiny for you, because here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future.That\'s what young people like you are doing every day, all acro America.Young people like Jazmin Perez, from Roma, Texas.Jazmin didn\'t speak English when she first started school.Neither of her parents had gone to college. But she worked hard, earned good grades, and got a scholarship to Brown University -- is now in graduate school, studying public health, on her way to becoming Dr.Jazmin Perez.I\'m thinking about Andoni Schultz, from Los Altos, California, who\'s fought brain cancer since he was three.He\'s had to endure all sorts of treatments and surgeries, one of which affected his memory, so it took him much longer -- hundreds of extra hours -- to do his schoolwork. And I expect all of you to do the same.That\'s why today I\'m calling on each of you to set your own goals for your education -- and do everything you can to meet them.Your goal can be something as simple as doing all your homework, paying attention in cla, or spending some time each day reading a book.Maybe you\'ll decide to get involved in an extracurricular activity, or volunteer in your community.Maybe you\'ll decide to stand up for kids who are being teased or bullied because of who they are or how they look, because you believe, like I do, that all young people deserve a safe environment to study and learn.Maybe you\'ll decide to take better care of yourself so you can be more ready to learn. And along those lines, by the way, I hope all of you are washing your hands a lot, and that you stay home from school when you don\'t feel well, so we can keep people from getting the flu this fall and winter. But whatever you resolve to do, I want you to commit to it.I want you to really work at it.I know that sometimes you get that sense from TV that you can be rich and succeful without any hard work -- that your ticket to succe is through rapping or basketball or being a reality TV star.Chances are you\'re not going to be any of those things. The truth is, being succeful is hard. You won\'t love every subject that you study. You won\'t click with every teacher that you have. Not every homework aignment will seem completely relevant to your life right at this minute. And you won\'t necearily succeed at everything the first time you try.That\'s okay. And that\'s why I succeed.\" These people succeeded because they understood that you can\'t let your failures define you -- you have to let your failures teach you.You have to let them show you what to do differently the next time.So if you get into trouble, that doesn\'t mean you\'re a troublemaker, it means you need to try harder to act right. You might have to read something a few times before you understand it.You definitely have to do a few drafts of a paper before it\'s good enough to hand in.Don\'t be afraid to ask questions.Don\'t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.I do that every day.Asking for help isn\'t a sign of weakne, it\'s a sign of strength because it shows you have the courage to admit when you don\'t know something, and that then allows you to learn something new.So find an adult that you trust -- a parent, a grandparent or teacher, a coach or a counselor -- and ask them to help you stay on track to meet your goals. And even when you\'re struggling, even when you\'re discouraged, and you feel like other people have given up on you, don\'t ever give up on yourself, because when you give up on yourself, you give up on your country. The story of America isn\'t about people who quit when things got tough.It\'s about people who kept going, who tried harder, who loved their country too much to do anything le than their best.It\'s the story of students who sat where you sit 250 years ago, and went on to wage a revolution and they founded this nation.Young people.Students who sat where you sit 75 years ago who overcame a Depreion and won a world war; who fought for civil rights and put a man on the moon.Students who sat where you sit 20 years ago who founded Google and Twitter and Facebook and changed the way we communicate with each other. Most of all, don\'t let yourself down.Make us all proud.Thank you very much, everybody.God ble you.God ble America.Thank you.
