Steve Jobs’s Resignation Letter to Apple
The following is the resignation letter from Steve Jobs to the Apple board:
CUPERTINO, Calif.–August 24, 2011–To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community: I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know.Unfortunately, that day has come.I hereby resign as CEO of Apple.I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.As far as my succeor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succeion plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it.And I look forward to watching and contributing to its succe in a new role.I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

在此，我宣布辞去苹果首席执行官职务。如果董事会认为合适的话，我想担任董事长，或者董事甚至普通职员都可以。
至于我的继任者，我强烈建议实施我们已定的继任计划，并提名蒂姆·库克担任苹果CEO。
我认为，苹果最光明和最具创新力的日子还在后头。我期待着在新的岗位上看护苹果的成功并为此做出贡献。
在苹果我交了一些生命中最好的朋友，我要感谢多年来与我共同努力的所有人。
