课本剧在初中英语教学中的引入是英语教学模式改革的一项积极尝试。学生在学习我地现行的译林译林英语教材后,通过对某一阶段教材或学材的选择与改编,形成与教材联系相对紧密的课本剧,并通过学生团队的编、导、演,利用英语活动课这一特定的平台呈现出来,从而达到巩固语言知识,提高语言能力,熟悉英语文化,拓展知识视野,并最终达到掌握英语语用能力的目的。

一、课本剧在英语教学中运用的相关第二语言习得理论依据。

乔姆斯基认为,儿童生而具有“语言习得机制”,他们会根据普遍语法规则,在特定的语言环境下触发这一机制,并作出假设——检验——修改假设,直到假设符合特定语法为止。韩礼德的“话语交际说”更是指出,学生只有通过话语交际,才可能获得第二语言。课本剧运用于英语教学,使得缺少真实英语语境的中国初中学生,在有意义的语言操练(话语交际)过程中,将这种不断的语言使用的 “假设——检验——修改假设”进程成为了可能。

克拉森在20世纪70年代的“自我监测说”是课本剧运用于英语教学的另一理论依据。克拉森提出了语言能力的获得有两种方式:语言习得(学习者通过自然交际,无意识的获得语言,类似于第一语言的获得,它强调语言的流利程度)与语言学习(学习者通过有意识的学习语言规则获得语言能力,它强调语言的准确程度)。在他看来,有意识的语言学习无法导致语言习得。课本剧在英语教学中的运用正是希望创设大量不同的语言环境,让学生通过相对自然的交际,实现语言的习得。

情感过滤假设是克拉森对第二语言习得理论的另一重大贡献。他认为,学习者的学习动机、自信心及焦虑是影响第二语言进度的情感因素。课本剧运用于英语教学,正是通过学生的合理组合,让学生通过大量的互动操练,不断的舞台经验,相互磨合,并发挥其在表演前以及表演中的主观能动性,达到语言的自动化的程度,从而提高学习动机,增强自信心,降低学习焦虑。

交际语言教学法是课本剧运用于英语教学的直接理论依据。交际语言教学法认为,交际时人们运用语言来完成一些功能(如:争论、劝导许诺等);而这些功能只有在特定的社会语境中来实现的。这些情景是他们在真实的汉语语言生活中接触过,而又是习得英语的不可缺失的环节。课本剧在英语教学中的引入,正可以通过创设模拟真实的语言交际情景,让学生实现语言的交际功能。

二、英语教学改革的理念与思路为课本剧在英语教学中的运用指明方向。《英语课程标准》阐述的教学改革的理念为:开展全面的素质教育,突出学生在学习中的主体地位及尊重个体差异,提倡通过多种活动让学生体验参与,注重学生的发展及过程评价,开发课程资源、拓展语用渠道。课本剧在英语教学中的使用注重学生整合课本中的语言知识,通过自编、自导、自演,用课本剧这一灵活开放的形式,让学生发挥个体的特长及集体的智慧,通过主动搜索信息,积极体验参与,从而实现形成语用能力,促进学生个体的发展。

“新课标”也明确的指出:“基础教育阶段英语课程的总体目标是培养学生的综合语言运用能力。”而这一总体英语课程目标是以学生语言知识、语言技能、情感态度、学习策略和文化意识的基础上形成的。而在“实施建议”部分,新课标倡导“任务型”教学途径,建议组织开展生动活泼的活动。学生在组织编写以及排演课本剧时,必然以语言知识为载体,综合运用听说读写语言技能;当出现已有语言知识无法恰当表达出自己的意图时,会运用资源策略,认识策略,查资料,问同学,问老师,或用肢体语言结合口语,综合运用交际策略,调控策略;在课本剧的编演过程中,也会注意语言与文化的关系,以免弄出“国际笑话”;同时在课本剧的事先大量的准备过程中,使学生对将要进行的表演任务非常熟练,从而不断降低语言焦虑,提升学生英语学习的兴趣,自信心,语言学习的自我效能感等,从而发展了自己的情感态度。因而,课本剧的编演是学生在一个阶段学习过程后,在英语活动课上帮助学生巩固语言知识,发展语言能力,最好的方式之一。

三、《译林初中英语》教材的特点使课本剧运用于英语课堂教学成为可能 《译林初中英语》教材编写按照任务型教学原则设计语言实践活动,每个单元围绕一个话题;这使得学生可以围绕某个主题编排课本剧,并合理安排故事冲突,达成故事情节。

本套教材内容贴近学生社会生活实际,体现了时代精神,语言素材典型,情景真实,符合语言学习认知规律;这使得学生一方面已经做好了生活经验上的准备,并在课本剧的编排进程中体现出来,同时学生也具备运用已有的信息获取能力,结合自己对英语本身以及对课本剧的浓厚兴趣,主动搜索相关的语言材料,丰富自己语料库,并使的课本剧从形式到内容上更加丰满;同时在真实情景下,学生能够降低情感障碍的消极作用,从而实现语言学习向语言习得的转化。

教材编写体例上突破了传统,体现语言教学的整体性及综合性;这使课本剧在内容编排上可以更加具有逻辑性,学生的表演更具有挑战性,学生通过课本剧这种形式操练与巩固的语言知识与能力更加全面。

四、初中学生的自身语言学习特点使课本剧运用于英语教学成为现实 初中阶段是学生小学与高中学习生活的过渡期,学生的身心发育逐渐走向成熟。处于这一阶段的学生,一方面与小学生相比,已经为课本剧在英语教学的运用上作好了相关的准备(如,生活阅历、表演经验、才艺积累等),并具有一定程度的表演能力,使得课本剧的编排演在此后的英语学习过程中成为可能。

另一方面,处于初中阶段的学生,个体的独立性发育上尚不完全,但表现自我的意识最为强烈;性格的叛逆性在此阶段表现的最为明显;在人前的表现欲较强,因而他们与高中学生相比,具有更强烈的表演欲望。在接受了必要的戏剧编导与表演素养的训练后,初中生完全有能力胜任通过对某一阶段的教材或其它学习材料的选择、解析、改编与重组,自编相对完整的课本剧剧本。

在现行的英语课程设置上,活动课的安排给课本剧运用于英语教学提供了编排的空间。学生在进行了一个单元针对某一话题的专门学习后,具备针对这一话题深入探讨的能力。在这一时候,学生通过在活动课上,自由组合,编写剧本,导演剧目,彩排与最终表演课本剧,从而达到巩固语言知识,提升语言能力,优化学习心理的目的。因而,课本剧运用于英语课堂教学,是英语教学,特别是活动课教学的一次积极、有效的尝试。

教后反思:

本节课主要呈现了四个传统节日,在五上教材中,学生已经学习了Christmas Day, Teachers’ Day 等节日,本课则是学习中国节日的。所以在教学过程中,我呈现新词festival后,立刻以旧知为切入点,讨论节日的相关内容,为新知的学习作了很好的铺垫。

课前,我让学生在预习的基础上进行小组自主学习,互帮互助,先解决生词的朗读,并让读得较好的学生带动其他学生认识新词,激发了学生自主学习的兴趣。并且让学生收集了其他一些中国传统节日。课上,先让学生找出课文的结构(节日的名称、时间、活动、食物),然后学生与老师一起学习节日Spring Festival和Dragon Boat Festival,从时间,活动和食物三方面入手,详细了解春节,并让学生联系自己的实际生活来说说自己在春节的活动和饮食。然后放手让学生按照方法来学习其他两个节日,让他们提问、回答。在学生了解文章的基础上,我将教学要求进行提升,让学生复述单个节日,在复述节日时可以选择一个自己喜欢的节日,也可以选择四个节日的某个方面来说,为后面谈论更多的中国传统节日埋下伏笔,提供了大量的素材。最后以欣赏一组传统节日图片来结尾,激发了学生对传统节日的喜爱以及爱国之情,情感得以升华。

在整个教学过程中,还应更加大胆地放手让学生来自主学习,这样也可以让学生有更多的时间来谈论更多的中国传统节日,真正做到学以致用。

本节课能够合理的安排各种活动,增加课堂学习气氛,提高学生学习兴趣,特别是情景对话这个活动,许多学生都有踊跃参加。不足的地方是,因为情景对话的活动用的时间比较长,所以,到了后半节课的时候,恐怕课上不完,会有点赶。如果能够在最后下课前十分钟让学生们自习效果会比较好,因为学生到了最后十分钟并不能很好的集中精神听课。
